Chapter 1607: There's One More Person

After hesitating for a moment, Connor felt that this might be an opportunity given to him by fate.

After all, if there really was someone inside the secret room, it would definitely be Albert.

And since he wasn't a martial artist, Connor could easily handle him.

If there was no one inside, then it would be even easier for Connor. He could just enter the secret room directly, instead of waiting until another time.

So, he cautiously pushed the iron door.

As he had guessed, the door was actually open.

His emotions were extremely excited as he slowly opened the iron door and walked into the secret room.

Upon entering the room, he found that the lights were on, but there was no one present.

"Could Albert have forgotten to close the door?" he murmured in confusion, then took steps further into the room.

Inside the secret room, he noticed several cabinets containing various kinds of documents.

He picked up a few documents and glanced at them, realizing that they were all related to the Collier family's business, and the contents were quite astonishing. Most of them were records of secretive business transactions.

"I never thought that the Collier family would be involved in arms trafficking..." he sighed softly. "If I were to expose all these documents, even the Collier family might not be able to handle it!"

However, Connor had no deep-seated grudge against the Collier family. He had come here today solely to retrieve Yaakov's backup hard drive, so he wasn't interested in these documents and had no intention of taking them with him.

After flipping through the documents, he finally found a place where the hard drives were stored.

Looking at the dozens of hard drives on the table, Connor's expression became one of frustration. He had no idea which one was Yaakov's.

Initially, he had considered taking all the hard drives with him. However, after some thought, he realized that if he took just one hard drive, the Collier family wouldn't notice within a short period of time.

After all, they wouldn't bother searching for the hard drive unless they needed it to deal with Yaakov. Even if it was lost, it would take some time for them to notice.

So, after a moment of hesitation, he took the hard drives to the computer and began trying them one by one.

But to his surprise, all these hard drives contained evidence of crimes committed by influential individuals.

"I never expected that the Collier family would possess evidence of so many powerful figures' crimes. No wonder their business has thrived so much. If they can control these people, even ordinary individuals wouldn't dare to provoke the Collier family!" he whispered in amazement.

A few minutes later, Connor's expression turned anxious.

He knew that a hacker could control surveillance systems for at most an hour, and after that, the surveillance would return to normal.

It had already been over half an hour since he entered the Collier family's premises. If he continued wasting time like this, he might not be able to leave even after finding the hard drive.

So, he started moving faster.

After trying seven or eight hard drives, he finally found the backup hard drive belonging to Yaakov.

Upon confirming that the contents of this hard drive contained evidence of Yaakov's crimes, his expression turned excited. He placed the hard drive into his clothes and returned the other hard drives to their original places.

With the hard drive in hand, he considered his mission accomplished and turned to leave the room.

"Click, click, click..."

However, at that moment, Connor suddenly heard footsteps.

He hesitated for a moment and then hurried to the door, gently closing the iron door and pressing his ear against it.

He could hear footsteps and faint voices.

"It seems someone is coming..." His expression was one of helplessness. He realized that if he were discovered, he wouldn't be able to leave safely.

So, after a brief hesitation, he rushed to stand in front of a cabinet and opened its door.

As he opened the door, he was utterly surprised.

Because what he didn't expect was that there was another person inside the cabinet – a woman, to be precise.

The woman was exceptionally beautiful, with delicate features that were breathtaking.

However, the woman's expression was tense as she looked at Connor.

He felt that he recognized this woman from somewhere and then remembered seeing a photograph of a little girl when he entered the mansion. The girl in that photo should be the same woman standing before him now.

"Is this woman from the Collier family? Why would a member of the Collier family hide here?"

His expression was puzzled.

By now, he had realized why he was able to enter the secret room so easily.

The door to the secret room had been left unlocked not because Albert forgot to lock it, but because the woman had entered before Connor. She had forgotten to lock the door.

The woman's presence in the cabinet was likely due to her hearing Connor open the door and hiding there to avoid being discovered.

Instinctively, he wanted to close the door and hide in another cabinet.

However, just at that moment, he heard the sound of someone entering the password from outside. Without further thought, he directly entered the cabinet.

Seeing Connor enter, the woman's expression was a mix of surprise. But at this point, she didn't dare make a sound.

The cabinet wasn't very spacious, and there was already one person inside. After he entered, they were squeezed closely together with barely any space.

The woman seemed as though she wanted to say something.

"The person outside is about to come in. I have no other choice. If you don't want to be discovered hiding here, don't make any noise!" he whispered to the woman.

After hearing his words, the woman quickly closed her mouth.

A few seconds later, the iron door was pushed open from the outside.

Both Connor and the woman in the cabinet held their breaths, not daring to make any sound.

However, due to the limited space inside the cabinet, and also to ensure that the cabinet door wasn't accidentally opened from outside, his body was pressed against the woman's body.

The woman had a great figure, and he could even catch the scent of a faint fragrance.

Although he felt quite comfortable, the woman beneath him was feeling a bit uncomfortable.

After all, being pressed by Connor like this was making it difficult for her to breathe.
