Geometric Mage: First Spell, Circle -
Chapter 43: Silver 1 Worm, Facing the Real Boss
Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Silver 1 Worm, Facing the Real Boss
Lian observed the monster with trepidation. The damage he had sustained moments ago was minimal, yet the pain he had experienced was immense. And he had only been struck by one of those needles, unlike Freddy and Seline.
In particular, Seline lay on the ground, her body wracked with involuntary spasms. On the other hand, Freddy was on his knees, struggling to recover.
His body was stronger; he could endure the pain better, his warrior’s resilience a shield against the torment.
Observing the scene, Lian decided to take action. He could not stand idly by, or this time they would truly die!
After firing its blood needles, the worm did not continue its attack, as if it had everything under control, its eerie stillness exuding a sinister confidence.
"Bastard, let’s see how you handle this!" Lian murmured as he prepared a circle in his mind.
With a single thought, the circle grew much larger than he had ever managed before, a vast geometric construct pulsing with newfound power.
"Ignis Arde, Ignis Globus!"
A powerful and enormous fireball appeared in his hand, hovering for a moment before hurtling toward the worm, a blazing orb of destruction that lit up the desolate sands.
The fireball’s speed was faster than before, despite its larger size.
Sensing a disturbance in mana, the worm, which until that moment had its eyes-or rather, its mouth-fixed on Freddy, turned immediately.
With a swift movement, too swift for a creature of its size, the monster dodged the attack by shifting to the side, its massive body moving with unnatural grace.
But Lian had anticipated this move.
Right after launching his fireball, Lian had successfully summoned several fire snakes, each heading in a different direction.
One of them was precisely in the direction of the giant worm, which, not noticing it at all, was struck head-on.
Boom-
A small explosion echoed, sending sand flying everywhere.
"Got you!" Lian smiled.
But his smile froze on his lips at the sight of the monster, completely unscathed.
Its red skin was not even slightly blackened. This meant only one thing: Lian was still too weak.
Fortunately, his action bought precious time for Freddy to stand and launch a ranged attack at the monster.
Slash-
A wind blade sliced through the monster’s body, causing vast amounts of black blood to spill.
But just like before, before anyone could make a second move, the blood from the wound coagulated, being reabsorbed.
The monster had healed itself successfully a second time, its regenerative powers a maddening obstacle.
"Tch, damned worm..." Freddy murmured with a frown on his face.
His attacks were ineffective against a monster capable of healing continuously.
Well, everyone’s attacks were ineffective.
The worm’s head rose into the air again as it prepared to charge at Freddy. After all, he was the only one who could harm it, making him the primary target among the three.
With a swift movement, the worm began zigzagging toward Freddy. Lian made a small gesture to the man, as if signaling him to be ready.
"Look at that... now I’m stuck playing bait-" the man said as he turned to flee, trying to buy time to allow Lian to unleash his attack, his movements calculated to draw the monster’s attention.
Meanwhile, Seline had slightly recovered. Her body had stopped convulsing, but the trauma the pain had caused was too intense to shake off easily.
Observing how Freddy ran, landing a few strikes here and there at the worm, Lian thought about which spell to use.
The fireball isn’t good enough; the monster is too fast and can dodge it easily... the fire snake is the better choice. It seems to have some intelligence, actively moving toward the monster.
Lian was pondering what to do when an idea struck him.
Wait! I have the new form, the square. It’s tied to the earth element, so I can try using that spell.
Lian immediately began to put his plan into action.
"Freddy, start getting closer!" he shouted while closing his eyes, preparing his move.
"Geometric Spell, Square!"
Using the same concept he had unlocked with the circle, variants, Lian began to create a concentric Square variant.
"Let’s try it this way," he whispered as he visualized four concentric squares, each one layered within the other, amplifying the spell’s power.
"Terra Fortis, Saxum Parvum!"
As soon as Lian finished pronouncing these words, an intense amount of mana surged out of his body, rushing toward the sandy ground, a torrent of energy that seemed to shake the earth itself.
"Ugh!" Lian nearly fell to the ground due to the enormous amount of mana used all at once, his body trembling from the strain.
The worm was a few meters away from Lian, continuing to chase Freddy, occasionally firing bursts of acidic blood.
Sensing the sudden release of mana, the worm paused for a moment, trying to discern where the attack was coming from.
But to its surprise, the attack did not come from any visible area, it came from below.
A massive, sharp, and solid stone spike shot out of the ground with ferocity, crashing into the worm’s underbelly, a jagged pillar of earth that erupted with devastating force.
Sensing the attack at the last moment, the monster tried to dodge, but it was all in vain.
With a sharp impact, the spike pierced through its body, impaling it from one side to the other, a brutal strike that pinned the creature like a trophy.
An outrageous amount of blood exploded from its body as the monster writhed like a cockroach-well, technically, a worm-its frantic movements a desperate struggle against its fate.
Observing the scene, Freddy’s eyes widened as he murmured something about the boy’s absurdity.
"Come on, Freddy!" Lian shouted, his eyes fixed on the monster, his hands outstretched, and sweat dripping from every inch of his body. "I can’t keep holding it for long!"
The worm kept thrashing, trying to free itself. The more it struggled, the larger the wound became, but at the same time, Lian’s effort and mana consumption increased---
