Chapter 250: First Battle Against Void God
He wanted to look at both carefully, but he knew it wasn’t the right time or place to do it.
"Let’s go," Apollo said.
Serena quickly took out the life essence stones and divine stones, paid the auction bids, and after calmly putting the two items away, they left the VIP room to make their way outside.
The two then stepped out of the VIP room, their presence instantly drawing the attention of those still lingering in the auction house. Conversations ceased as eyes turned toward them, some filled with envy, others with barely concealed greed.
Yet no one dared to move or speak openly; the oppressive aura that now cloaked the surrounding area had put everyone on edge.
Apollo and Serena didn’t try to hide or run away; they calmly walked straight in front of everyone to see.
As they exited the grand hall and made their way outside, the atmosphere grew even more foreboding. The streets, usually bustling with life and activity, were eerily empty. It was as if the city itself had sensed the brewing storm and recoiled in fear. Even the air seemed heavier, charged with an ominous sense of dread.
Apollo glanced around, his expression unreadable. The absence of bystanders only confirmed his suspicions. "They’ve cleared the area," he remarked, his tone almost amused. "How thoughtful of them."
A faint ripple of energy coursed through the surroundings, subtle but unmistakable. They were being watched, and the watchers were preparing to act. The oppressive aura grew more intense with each passing moment as if the predators circling them were readying to pounce.
Not only that but almost all the VIPs and guests who had come to the auction were now keeping their distance, hiding in the shadows as they waited to see how the situation would unfold. Everyone was anticipating the inevitable chaos, hoping for an opportunity to claim the treasure for themselves.
However, no one dared to be the first to make a move. The tension was intense, and the entire place was shrouded in an eerie silence, with speculation on what would happen next.
But finally, among the VIPs, someone could not wait anymore and made his move.
"Oh finally." Apollo smiled as he felt movement and a group of people appeared in front of him.
Surprisingly, they were not human. Although they had humanoid shapes, their skin was a pale shade of blue, emitting a faint, otherworldly glow. Leading the group was a young man who shared their features but carried an air of elegance and mystery that set him apart.
"Human, surrender immediately and hand over the key," the young man demanded, his voice sharp and commanding. Apollo and the others instantly recognized him as the occupant of VIP Room 14, the same voice they had heard earlier during the auction. His tone left no room for negotiation, exuding both confidence and an underlying threat.
"Quite the confidence you have; then let’s see what you can do," Apollo replied calmly, stopping Selena from directly crushing them.
The young man’s eyes narrowed; his calm expression changed for a brief moment. "You’re courting death," he spat.
The air crackled with tension as the group prepared to strike, but Apollo remained unfazed. He stepped forward, his gaze sharp and unyielding. "I was wondering when someone would finally step up. It’s been far too quiet."
The young man sneered. "You’ll regret this arrogance, human. Kill him!"
The group surged forward, their movements a blur as their glowing forms became streaks of blue light.
Serena’s aura flared up instinctively, but Apollo raised a hand, his calm voice cutting through the chaos.
"Let them come," he said, his tone almost playful. "I want to see what they’ve got."
The group that attacked first were half-gods. Twenty half-gods seemed to form a formation and attacked him directly with full force.
Their aura seems to have combined and become extremely strong as it seems to reach close to the Void gods.
Apollo remained standing, and their combined attack in the form of an energy beam came towards him. To which he lifted his hands, and like swatting some fly, he moved his hand.
Clap!
Deflected the powerful energy beam, which exploded after some distance, creating a massive explosion.
Boom!
The massive explosion illuminated the surroundings, its shockwave rippling out and causing the very ground to tremble. Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring vision for a moment.
When the dust settled, Apollo stood in the same spot, completely unscathed. His hand, which had casually swatted away the combined attack, lowered as if nothing had happened. His expression remained calm, even bored.
The group of Half-Gods, who had pooled their strength into that attack, froze in disbelief. Their carefully coordinated formation, which could rival a Void God in power, had been rendered useless with a single, dismissive motion.
The young leader of the blue-skinned group scowled; his earlier confidence seemed shaken a bit, as even he himself, being one of the strongest half-gods of his clan, could not do this.
"How... is this possible?" One of the attackers muttered, their glowing forms flickering with uncertainty.
Apollo finally moved, taking a slow step forward. Each step he took seemed to weigh on the attackers like a mountain pressing down. The overwhelming pressure of his presence alone was enough to make some of the weaker Half-Gods falter, their knees trembling.
"That was your best shot?" Apollo’s voice was calm but carried a mocking edge. "Pathetic."
The young man from VIP Room 14 growled, his aura flaring as he shouted, "Fools! Don’t be afraid."
"Tch, Uncle Seventh, it looks like you have to take action." Seeing that the group wasn’t doing well, he quickly asked the middle-aged blue-skinned man standing beside him.
The moment he said that the aura of the seventh uncle seemed to slowly climb up, and even the people hiding and watching from afar felt a terrifying breath changing their expression.
"Finally, Void God is making his move." Although they were surprised to see Apollo’s strength in taking an attack from twenty half-gods, they didn’t think much as they knew Void Gods were the real deal that would decide the outcome.
The moment the middle-aged blue-skinned man, referred to as "Uncle Seventh," began to move, the atmosphere shifted drastically. His aura surged, an oppressive wave of energy rolling out in all directions.
"Finally," Apollo murmured, his smirk deepening. He stood still, his body radiating an aura of absolute confidence. He looked almost amused as if welcoming the challenge.
The Void God’s aura continued to rise, and the space around him distorted, crackling under the sheer pressure. The spectators, both near and far, were awestruck. Void Gods were beings who had transcended mortal limits, and their power was undeniable.
"Human," the Void God spoke, his voice resonating with an otherworldly authority, "you’re talented, but this ends here. Hand over the horn, and I might consider sparing your life."
Apollo chuckled softly, his voice dripping with mockery. "Sparing my life? That’s cute. Let’s see if you can even scratch me."
The Void God’s eyes narrowed, his aura coalescing into a visible, shimmering field around him. He raised a hand, and a massive, translucent blue spear of energy formed in the air. Its tip radiated a deadly brilliance, and the sheer pressure it exuded made the weaker beings watching from afar buckle to their knees.
Without hesitation, the Void God hurled the spear at Apollo. The weapon tore through the air with a deafening roar, leaving behind a trail of destruction. The space cracked and splintered under its sheer force, and the entire place within a few miles felt dark as it approached.
Apollo didn’t move until the spear was mere moments away. Then, with a flick of his wrist, he punched with all his strength. Time seemed to slow down as his small fist and the massive spear collided.
BOOM!
A cataclysmic explosion happened that seemed to have torn the space and created a small space storm that seemed to want to swallow everything in its path.
The explosion that followed shook the station, a shockwave radiating outward and forcing everyone nearby to brace themselves. When the light faded, Apollo was still standing, completely unharmed. The spear had been shattered into countless motes of light, which slowly dissipated into the air.
"Is that all?" Apollo asked, his tone mocking. He, even after taking an attack from the Void God, seems alright, like it wasn’t worth something.
The crowd watching from the shadows gasped audibly, their faces painted with a mixture of awe and disbelief. Whispers broke out among them like ripples in a pond, each hushed voice trying to make sense of what they had just witnessed.
"Did he just deflect a Void God’s attack... effortlessly?" One onlooker muttered, their voice trembling with incredulity.
"Impossible," another whispered, their eyes wide. "Even among Void Gods, that level of power shouldn’t be this easily countered by someone so young and clearly having a half-god realm aura."
In one of the hidden corners, Lady Ysera and a young figure narrowed their eyes, their composure cracking. "Who is this human? What kind of monster hides beneath that calm demeanour?"
