Chapter 434: Mu Yifeng
Chapter 434: Mu Yifeng
Though still far away, the piercing screech was exceptionally sharp.
Qin Sang recalled the information he had obtained from Xiong Li, and his heart tensed. Without a sound, he submerged into the water, concealing his aura entirely while secretly observing the situation.
Before long, a crimson evasion light shot through the southwestern sky, entering Qin Sang’s field of vision.
Someone was flying on a sword!
Qin Sang suppressed his aura and remained motionless. His gaze passed through the water’s surface, locking onto the evasion light. Then, shifting his focus, he looked beyond it.
As expected, a moment later, a second evasion light—this one white—emerged, relentlessly pursuing the crimson light.
The distance was still too great for Qin Sang to discern their auras, but he could vaguely make out the chase between the red and white lights on the horizon.
However, from the intensity of their flight, he could deduce that both were at least late-stage Foundation Building cultivators!
The crimson evasion light in the lead appeared somewhat unsteady, while the white one maintained a calm and measured pace, giving off an air of absolute control, as though the pursuer had already secured victory.
Could this be a Tianxing Alliance cultivator hunting down someone from Small Cold Domain?
Both sides practiced immortal cultivation, and their techniques were largely similar. There was no way to judge their identities by sight alone.
Qin Sang hovered in the depths of the lake, gripping the Yan Luo Banner of Ten Directions as his gaze flickered with hesitation. He watched as the two streaks of evasion light chased each other toward the northeast.
Suddenly, a rumbling sound echoed from the same direction the evasion lights had come from.
Qin Sang’s expression shifted slightly. Turning his head, he saw a treasured vessel speeding toward them, following far behind the two streaks of light, clearly in pursuit as well.
The ship sailed across the water, its body glowing with radiant light, displaying no intention of concealing its pursuit.
As the ship cut through the lake, massive waves surged up, forming two towering walls of water, each over ten zhang high.
Waves crashed violently, sending water droplets flying through the air.
Beneath the scorching sun, a faintly iridescent rainbow shimmered in the ship’s wake, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
Even from beneath the water’s surface, Qin Sang could feel the subtle ripples caused by the ship’s presence.
He narrowed his eyes, focusing past the water walls to glimpse the ship's true form. It had a simple design—both ends were curved upward, and a canopy stood at its center. The hull was small, resembling a common black-roofed boat seen in the mortal world.
Yet, there were no oars, nor was there anyone steering it.
A lone figure stood at the prow, presumably the ship’s master.
Additionally, silhouettes could be seen at the stern—some seated in meditation, others standing.
Most of them tilted their heads slightly upward, their gazes fixed on the two streaks of evasion light ahead. They all seemed to be holding artifacts, ready for battle at any moment.
Due to the distance, Qin Sang couldn’t make out their faces, nor could he gauge their cultivation levels. However, given their relentless pursuit, they were undoubtedly powerful. With so many cultivators aboard, their strength was not to be underestimated.
"Among these three forces, who is friend, and who is foe?"
A contemplative expression appeared on Qin Sang’s face.
If only the two evasion lights were involved, it would be easy to determine their allegiances, and stepping in to assist the right side would be a simple matter. Doing so would also earn him considerable merit upon his return.
Qin Sang had confidence in his ability. As long as he seized the right moment and launched a surprise attack, even without using the Yan Luo Banner of Ten Directions, eliminating a late-stage Foundation Building cultivator wouldn’t be too difficult.
However, if the ones aboard the black-roofed boat were all Tianxing Alliance experts, then he needed to reconsider his approach.
Just as Qin Sang wavered in indecision—
Roar!
A sudden, furious roar rang out, cutting through Qin Sang’s thoughts.
He lifted his head and followed the sound, only to see that the crimson evasion light at the front had unexpectedly halted.
Yet, Qin Sang could not see the figure within the light. Instead, the crimson glow rapidly expanded, transforming into a raging inferno that coalesced into a massive fireball in the sky.
Flames spread outward at a rapid pace, and from the center of the fireball, furious roars continued to echo.
Hearing this voice, Qin Sang’s expression shifted. There was something vaguely familiar about it.
The next instant, the fireball trembled violently. Nine blazing dragons burst forth from the inferno, coiling around the fireball as they soared through the sky. Their bodies were a brilliant crimson, gliding through the heavens with unparalleled grace.
Their form was breathtaking, akin to true dragons.
Qin Sang quickly counted—there were exactly nine of them.
A look of astonishment appeared on Qin Sang’s face.
The next moment, an immense suction force erupted from within the fireball, instantly drawing all the flames back inside. Even the nine fiery dragons rapidly shrank in size, revealing a divine blade!
A lone figure stood tall in the sky, gripping the blade, with nine intricately formed fire dragons coiling around it, roaring furiously at the approaching enemy.
Upon seeing this divine blade, Qin Sang's gaze sharpened, and a familiar silhouette immediately surfaced in his mind.
Mu Yifeng!
The Nine-Fire Divine Blade was Mu Yifeng's renowned artifact.
Qin Sang had met Mu Yifeng at the Xuanlu Stronghold, where they had endured hardships together. Though their time together had been brief, their temperaments aligned well, and they had forged a solid friendship.
Decades had passed since they parted outside the Xuanlu Stronghold after returning from the ancient cultivator’s ruins. He had not expected Mu Yifeng to leave the Xuanlu Stronghold and arrive at the Yuncang Marshlands.
Moreover, Mu Yifeng had also broken through to the late stage of the Foundation Building Realm.
The Nine-Fire Divine Blade had become significantly more powerful compared to decades ago. It was evident that Mu Yifeng had refined the artifact numerous times, pouring immense effort into it.
Since it was Mu Yifeng, then the pursuers behind him were undoubtedly Tianxing Alliance cultivators!
Mu Yifeng stood defiantly in midair, his eyes bloodshot with rage as he glared at his enemies. Both hands gripped the Nine-Fire Divine Blade tightly.
It seemed he had abandoned any hope of escaping and had resolved to fight to the death. He frantically channeled his spiritual power into the artifact.
The Nine-Fire Divine Blade radiated an astonishing force of flames, undergoing a metamorphosis, turning into a material akin to fire jade[1], releasing an incomparably dazzling crimson divine light.
The entire water domain was dyed red by the blade's brilliance, as if set ablaze.
"Kill!"
Mu Yifeng let out a hoarse, earth-shattering roar.
The Nine-Fire Divine Blade shot out of his grasp.
Like rolling thunder, like a shooting star!
The Tianxing Alliance pursuer saw Mu Yifeng risking everything. Locked onto by the blade, he dared not be careless. He immediately halted his evasion light, swiftly flinging out a Purple Crystal Flask, chanting an incantation under his breath.
The flask flipped upside down, its mouth aimed at the Nine-Fire Divine Blade, unleashing a surge of purple radiance, forming a barrier in the blade's path.
Poof!
The two artifacts collided, yet there was no sound.
The purple radiance was like a soft, ethereal cloud. As soon as the Nine-Fire Divine Blade pierced into it, the radiance visibly caved inward, rapidly being devoured by the blade. Although the flask continuously released fresh waves of purple radiance to replenish the barrier, the output simply could not keep up with the blade’s consumption.
The Nine-Fire Divine Blade was only slightly hindered but still carried an unstoppable momentum.
Realizing this, the Tianxing Alliance cultivator clenched his teeth and abruptly pointed a finger at the Purple Crystal Flask. The flask trembled slightly before it shot forward directly, colliding with the Nine-Fire Divine Blade in an attempt to block it.
Both combatants were formidable, their battle unfolding at an astonishing pace.
In the blink of an eye...
By the time Qin Sang realized that the one being pursued was Mu Yifeng, the two artifacts had already clashed.
Even with the naked eye, Qin Sang could tell that Mu Yifeng’s condition was dire. Even if the Nine-Fire Divine Blade managed to slay his opponent, Mu Yifeng would have no strength left to escape the ship that continued to chase him from behind.
