Game World's Awakening
Chapter 148: Information

Chapter 148: Information

"Just what I want." Elliot replied, leaving Erick speechless.

He leaned back in the chair, looking at him in shock.

"I understand if you’ve awakened, Elliot, but... Are you crazy? Did you break down in your head doing it?" He asked seriously.

"I think I’m quite right in the head recently, Erick."

"Impossible!" Erick was direct and gave a little thump on the table. "Who in their right mind would choose to come to Agora to buy information from the House of Fire? They are local leaders, Elliot! While they may not be the strongest, they are still political leaders and have a lot of strength as a guild."

Elliot already knew all that, so he nodded.

"I already know all that."

"Then-"

"I still have to buy it. It’s important." Elliot interrupted him.

Erick was shocked once again and lay back down. Using one hand, he brought it to his hundred, feeling it start to ache.

"There’s no point in coming to me either, if you want that. Are you sure you’re okay?" said Erick with a sigh. "You have been working with us for a long time, and you should know how this world works for us. We are shunned and treated like dirt. We have to sign a confidentiality agreement because of that. There’s nothing I can do about it."

"Confidentiality contracts still have holes in them."

"Even if there are..."

"I’ll pay you enough so you can have a good life with your wife and daughter. I’ll even allow you to leave here and go wherever you want. If you desire, you can go to the Dragon Kingdom or the Lux Kingdom."

Erick was forced into silence. Not only because Elliot had interrupted him again, but because of what he had said.

The opportunity to have a good life with his wife and daughter is too important to him. His wife is a normal civilian. She doesn’t deserve a life of misfortune like he can bring being here.

And his daughter will surely have a great future ahead of her. He had a dream that his daughter would not become an awakened one. He longs for her to remain a civilian all her life. That would guarantee her more of a future than trying to awaken and fail like her father.

But all that... would only be achieved if he could live a quiet life, away from the trash of this world.

Something that he would not be able to achieve in this city, perhaps in this kingdom.

This kingdom is rotten in all areas. It simply has no future.

That was why he had to think about it.

"Are you serious?" he asked, carefully.

"I’m totally serious. It’s just that you’ll have to help me with information every so often. It won’t take long. In less than one month, you should be traveling to your next destination, " he replied.

Erick nodded softly, thoughtfully.

"How much money do you think you can give me?" He asked.

"Ten million, minimum."

"T-ten?"

"Minimum." Elliot nodded.

Shit.

Erick was stunned.

Even though he’d worked hard all his life, he still couldn’t grasp the magnitude of receiving $10 million.

That was too much money, 10 times more than he imagined Elliot would tell him.

This time, Erick really had to give it some serious thought.

In the meantime, Elliot occasionally threw a few words at him to urge him.

And after a while, Erick made his decision.

"In Agora, all the Misfits are under the command of the House of Fire. That’s why they’ve managed to control the information of every section of the city." He spoke. "But there are still some guilds that are against them." f .r e\ewebnov(e)(l).c om

He seemed to write the initials of different guilds on paper and passed them to him.

The House of Fire used its influence in the government to obtain information about all the Misfits in the city, of which there are too many. Agora is the coastal city with the most Misfits because they come from other cities to seek a better future here.

They also have some influence on the Loen Misfits, so they have no shortage of information and can learn of betrayals and possible revenge against them with relative ease.

But, according to Erick, an important part of the Misfits—more than 70%, according to recent studies by a guild—are against the House of Fire.

Recently, a shocking case happened for the first time in hundreds of years: a guild defended the rights of the Misfits before the courts. Everything was born because the House of Fire is abusing its power to have the Misfits do jobs that do not correspond.

Thanks to the fact that this rather strong guild got its hands on it, it is possible that more than 80% of the Misfits are now dissatisfied with the House of Fire, waiting for what the courts say.

Although all this information was incomplete, it was enough to point Elliot in the right direction regarding this issue.

After 1 hour of talking, Elliot got up.

"I’ll look for you later to give you another assignment. For now, have this. Go pack your bags." He said and gave her some money.

About $100,000, more or less. More than Erick would earn in 10 years.

Erick couldn’t exactly say goodbye because he was stunned after seeing so much money.

But he smiled.

’A risky bet... it could backfire.’ He thought. His heart raced as he felt the fear of this going wrong. fre ewebno(v)e\l.(c)om

But he soon calmed down.

He knew. Those courts would appeal in favor of the House of Fire, and soon, like many of his friends, he would die in one of those mines. Being sent inexperienced to those places would only cause cave-ins, so surely, they just wanted to cleanse the city’s population of Misfits by doing so.

That’s why he had to take the risk.

His end would be no different if it goes wrong, though he might drag his daughter and wife along with him. But if it goes right... freeNovelFire

It would change his whole life.

He got up with the $100,000 and left the house through another door.

No one saw this transaction.

As he walked back to the hotel, Elliot took a few detours to martial arts centers and gyms. After a while, he appeared from behind the hotel but frowned.

"You’re pretty resilient." He said suddenly. The road was lonely.

But someone was hiding.

That someone didn’t answer.

"Aren’t you going to show yourself? Are you just a spy sent to report?"

Just then, a young man jumped out of one of the yards of the nearby houses.

"Oh. I saw you earlier with that bastard."

"Haha, I didn’t think I’d run into the famous Elliot here. Looks like you took the bait." he said, smiling softly and standing before him.

"Do you intend to catch me all by yourself? Are you going to collect that kind of money for yourself?"

"Yes." He smiled. "With me, that’s enough. I’ll tell you one thing, Leader of the Star Knights of Loen. The difference between a Star Knight of Loen and one of Agora is immense."

Saying so, he moved extremely fast, seeking to strike him.

"And I was the 2nd of the Star Knights back in the day. You don’t stand a chance." He roared.

But then, the blow that should have hit him in the face barely pinked a strange energy figure. And soon he received an accurate blow to his stomach.

The impact arched his figure and sent him flying backwards.

"When you fight a Summoner, be mindful of their summons, you idiot." Right behind where he would strike, three other summons met him by striking him with ferocity, and at the same time, Elliot drew his sword for a moment...

It was only half a second, but in the next instant, this guy already had his heart pierced through.

The blood rushed up his throat, and he looked in shock at Elliot. "...M- Master Rank..." He muttered before his body succumbed to the coldness of death.

Elliot retracted his summons and looked at the system, announcing that he had gained a few stat points.

’Even though it’s only two, it’s not bad. I’ve noticed that after reaching Master Rank, the point gain has slowed considerably.’ He thought.

But he didn’t think much of it. 2 points were already good enough.

He put the guy’s corpse away so as not to arouse suspicion and returned to the hotel.

Jenna hadn’t returned yet.

So he took out two human corpses.

He planned to use them.

In God’s Trial, I was able to create summonings with humans. I should be able to do it here too.’ He thought.

He began to make one. Although they were the same size, he had decided to make a tall and small one, because they would be used for different tasks.

After he finished making the taller one, the more difficult one, he stepped aside and patiently waited for the creation process to finish.

It was only a few seconds, but they felt eternal. He wanted it to work because this would help him enormously in his future mission.

He would have to use beastly invocations if it didn’t work, but he was certain it would work. He had become incredibly versatile in the God’s Trial, creating these invocations.

That had to have done the trick.

In fact, thanks to that, he was able to create it in less than 5 minutes.

And a few seconds later...

[You have created an invocation of a Type-1 Race]

[When he goes through the "Awakening his Hidden Talent" process, he will awaken impressive additional enhancements. He has 5 points of Sense added per Race.]
