Chapter 60: Mana Condensation
Chapter 60: Mana Condensation
A month later, Kaiju was currently defending against the heavyweight long arrows bolted by Qwanisha each second. Each single one of them needed to be redirected two times of his dagger before he was able to defend against them. He had to move his limbs in a quarter of a second. If it was not for Kaiju’s agility and strength attribute points, reaching the Awakened state, he would not have been able to achieve it.
Qwanisha arrows’ strength was not to be taken lightly either as it was also coated with mana, this just showed how difficult to receive it. In fact, Kaiju was supposed to evade it, if it was in a normal fight, but since this was a training to increase his dagger mastery, they had been at it for a month now.
In addition, Qwanisha was benefiting from this training as well, as it increased her mental and physical endurance to remain accurate and precise for hours. In addition, Kaiju was free to change location from time to time, too.
Kaiju began to perspire and Qwanisha suddenly sensed Kaiju’s face changed drastically. Kaiju seemed to have given up even controlling the muscles on his face, even letting his mouth hang and a tongue inevitably wiggled outside of his teeth. Qwanisha grinned.
This monster is entering the flow again. Is he about to break through now? Qwanisha thought. Of course as his teacher in the training for today, she needed to guide Kaiju to break through the wall. She recalled Kaiju sharing that he finally faced the wall and this was his first attempt to break it.
Given how a monster Kaiju had shown from the past two months, Qwanisha was confident Kaiju would succeed. Qwanisha intensified the condensed mana on her arrows making it heavier, but at the same time, she pulled the strong a bit longer now, making it not only faster but impactful, as well.
As expected, Kaiju appeared to be taken aback but eventually got accustomed to it. Qwanisha observed for a while and continued to increase the intensity of her attacks, as though she did not possess a limit. In fact, Qwanisha was using her advanced mastery in archery, causing Kaiju to face difficulty. In the end, Kaiju was about to break down, his arms were visibly shaken.
Qwanisha saw Kaiju was still in the flow state, so she did not hold back and continued while observing. She was attentively watching Kaiju’s dagger. In the advanced mastery of weapons, any weapon can be condensed with mana, dramatically altering the power of the wielder. The moment Kaiju ascended to become Awakened, elevating his dagger mastery to advance was only a matter of time.
At this moment, the mana he coated on his dagger condensed and this was the time Qwanisha knew he was about to break through. Soon, Kaiju condensed his mana to the daggers to the point it even elevated the effects of his Rare grade dagger, glistening it with red and blue light. At the same time, her arrows were not just deflected but sliced in half.
She was surprised. However, it was expected since her arrows were only common grade. Being an archer was expensive, indeed. Her Rare grade arrows were only reserved for special occasions.
Qwanisha glanced at Kaiju and appeared he was still in the flow state, not fully aware of his breakthrough. Qwanisha grinned and went all out. Her arrows were still common grade but she utilized her advanced archer mastery to the full extent. Qwanisha wickedly thought of destroying Kaiju’s daggers.
She released the first arrow and it almost broke the barrier of sound. It’s noise seemed to be quieter and even if the world slowed down in Kaiju’s vision. However, he managed to react in time, breaking the arrow’s speed with his frost dagger and deflecting the other arrow with the bloodthorn.
Swoosh!
Just after he deflected the first strongest arrow, another whistle resonated once again, causing his hair to stand on ends. He was able to awaken from his reverie, as a result, and did not hesitate to use his Shadowveil Hood ultimate effect, Umbral Step.
Kaiju appeared in another shadow four meters away from his previous location. He quickly swept his gaze and barely saw the arrows whistling, piercing through the gargantuan trees. Although it was not able to slice the entire trunk, it was colossal to begin with, and the hole... if Kaiju could not be able to block it, there would be no remains of him.
Kaiju stood frozen, failing to control his face, widening his eyes and mouth. He gripped his daggers tightly and heaved a sigh of relief, knowing he did not sacrifice them for his life.
"What? Are you awake now?" Qwanisha’s teasing voice reverberated in his ears.
He slowly turned his head and laughed awkwardly. "You don’t have to go that far, Big Sister. What will you do if I die? Will you and others’ efforts not turn to waste?"
"But you are alive, right?" Qwanisha giggled. "Look at you, you can even waste your saliva and oxygen talking."
Kaiju sighed. "Alright. Thank you for letting me live, then."
Qwanisha nodded.
Hiss!
An infuriated his directed at Qwanisha while Snow slithered towards her master. Through her deep connection with him, she also empathizes with his master for facing the deadly arrow. She could not help but be enraged.
"You almost killed my master, auntie!"
Qwanisha was stunned and guffawed. "You really know how to manipulate me, Snow. Anyway, stop worrying about your master. You will die first before him.
"As it should be!" Snow instantly replied.
She jumped towards her master’s right shoulder. Little Gorilla landed on Kaiju’s left shoulder, but it was not with peace. Snow asked her with a voice filled with exasperation, "Are you not worried for master earlier, little brother?"
"What to worry about?" Little Gorilla shrugged. "Like Big Sister Qwansiha had said, we will die first before him."
"I believe you."
Qwanisha was in disbelief.
She shook her head and glanced at Kaiju. She said, "You will take a rest now. You must get accustomed to the advanced mastery of dagger. We only have a month left."
Kaiju nodded solemnly, watching Qwanisha disappearing into the shadows.
