Chapter 46: Battle Against Qwanisha
Chapter 46: Battle Against Qwanisha
"That’s only effective against undead and demonic creatures. Do you really believe I’m one?" Qwanisha glared and snorted. With a wave of her hand, a crossbow manifested, firing three arrows at once, pushing the staff backward and losing the vigor of Radiant Fervor from a quick draw.
Little Gorilla was shaken by the immense power by the arrows. He was glad Qwanisha only targeted his staff to block, not to counterattack with an aim to kill him. Hence, without hesitation, strengthen his grasp and danced, swinging his staff once again, activating the Radiant Fervor once more. At the same time, Snow made her move, altering the terrain surrounding Qwanisha to lock down her movements.
{Frozen Venom Trail (Rare)
Description: Snow creates a trail of venomous ice wherever she moves. Enemies stepping into the trail take frost and poison damage, and their movement is significantly slowed.
Mana Cost: 1 mana point for each second leaving a trail.}
Qwanisha’s surrounding terrain was filled with frost–not only that, it was slippery, too. Furthermore, there were some places filled with miniscule spikes filled with toxins. For all that reason, Qwanisha was indeed completely locked down. However, with a casual sweep of her gaze, while blocking the assault of Little Gorilla, she spotted a place where she could jump off and leave.
She grinned. She saw through Snow’s aim. However, she still went to test it. She leapt backward, hover through the altered terrain and landed on what was seemingly normal ground. Yet, her weight suddenly caused the ground to cave in. It turned out to be a hollow concealed by leaves.
{Skill: Basic Trap Creation
Description: Allows the user to create simple, low-level traps using available materials such as wood, rope, and stones, such as snare trap and pitfall trap. These traps are effective for catching small creatures or slowing down weaker enemies.}
Qwanisha snorted. "Like I said, it won’t be effective against the powerful." Qwanisha suddenly regained footing mid-air, while she was about to fall from the pitfall trap, and jumped upward. However, as she was accelerating through the skies, Kaiju suddenly appeared in front of her, wearing a hood.
The bloodthorn was about to slice through her neck when an arrow brandished it away at the right time. Kaiju’s first assassination attempt failed, as he passed Qwanisha. While in mid-air, he suddenly turned his body around and swept his battlegarb sleeves, hiding three throwing daggers. But, it was unluckily blocked by three arrows... or what appeared on the surface.
{Inventory: Throwing Dagger (3/6) (Common)
A set of throwing daggers. It can’t be replenished. The amount will be recorded once stored in the inventory.}
Kaiju’s heart raced. Thankfully, he trusted his instinct and turned around, perceiving three arrows bolting towards him. He did not hesitate to waste his three throwing daggers, even though he did not want to use it.
"Don’t hesitate. What’s the use of saving your trump cards if you are already dead?" Qwanisha mocked. As she was about to land, a powerful bite, the size of her body, manifested, radiating holy power. It was attempting to swallow her. She snorted once again.
"Just like I said, I’m not undead or demonic creatures. Do you really believe I’m one?"
"Yes, you are a demon itself!" Little Gorilla wanted to say out loud after noticing his Holy Fang Strike was ineffective against Qwanisha.
{Holy Fang Strike (Rare)
Description: The gorilla delivers a powerful bite imbued with holy energy, dealing massive damage to corrupted or cursed targets.
Effect: A single-target attack that deals bonus holy damage and has a chance to cleanse the target of certain buffs.
Mana cost: 5 mana points.}
It was not that Holy Fang Strike was totally useless to Qwanisha because she was not a demonic creature, a holy attack is still an attack, even imbued with mana, yet why was it ineffective against Qwanisha? Little Gorilla was about to burst into tears.
However, he was not given enough time to complain when Qwanisha attacked with three arrows once again. The entire time, she was only using her left hand with a common grade crossbow. She was not even using her mana.
Little Gorilla swung his staff, even increasing the efficiency of Radiant Fervor, causing its mana consumption to increase. At the same time, he received a message from Snow and thus, utilized the immense power of the arrows to be propelled away from Little Gorilla.
Qwanisha was finally about to land, but, at the same time, Snow appeared behind her back and activated another skill, blowing a mist towards her.
{Glacial Venom Barrage (Rare)
Description: Snow releases a cloud of venomous frost that spreads in a 5-meter radius, dealing poison and frost damage over time. Enemies in the area are slowed and may experience blurred vision or respiratory effects due to the venom.
Mana Cost: 8 mana points.}
The skill to be fully activated took some time. That was what Snow failed to achieve. Hence, before the surface of the cloud of venomous frost touched Qwanisha, the latter managed to dash away as soon her left shoe connected to the ground.
However, what awaited her again was another dagger coming right straight to her face. She indifferently watched it, while seeing the owner with the hood waiting for her. Her movements suddenly halted, the dagger also seemed to stop moving despite a centimeter away from slicing her face.
Qwanisha stared right through the darkness of the hood, seemingly seeing through the shadows and smiled. "All passive resistance skills, those that you are proud of, will be ineffective if I finish you in one blow."
It turned out, a crossbow below her breast was aiming upward, exactly right through Kaij’s chin. The middle arrow targeted his head, the left aimed to block the dagger, the right to pierce his heart. Kaiju was at a total disadvantage.
Kaiju said, "Which is faster, your arrows or my dagger?"
Qwanisha grinned. "Try me."
"I don’t want to." Kaiju giggled and pulled his dagger. "I admit defeat."
Qwanisha nodded. "That was great team work, to be honest. If I was at your level, even perhaps, slightly above, even a recently awakened, I would die."
"Thank you." Kaiju sighed helplessly. "But you don’t have to."
"You have to know." Qwanisha shook her head. "So you know how to improve and keep track of your levels."
Kaiju nodded.
He ecstatically exclaimed while calling his pets.
"It’s feedback time!"
