Chapter 692: 373 Exposure

The youth with blond hair lay on the ground with a bruised nose and a swollen face, unable to get up, moaning as he clutched his broken ribs.

Seeing this, the burly man’s brow furrowed with a hint of helplessness and disgust as he shouted to the bar, "Is everyone dead? Get two people to send this stinking kid to the hospital."

After a while, two youths ran out and helped the blond-haired youth onto a car and left.

At that moment, the burly man noticed someone watching him. He turned his head, and his gaze collided with Fang Zhixing’s in midair.

At first, the burly man was startled, and upon taking a closer look at Fang Zhixing, surprise and suspicion appeared on his face.

Fang Zhixing walked up slowly, smiling, "Big brother, we are from out of town. Could we treat you to a drink and ask you a few questions?"

The burly man nodded after a brief silence, "Sure, please come inside."

The group entered the bar, and the bustling atmosphere hit them.

The spacious hall was crowded, with small tables spread out, each seating groups of three or five, all occupied.

In the middle, there was a small stage with a woman performing a striptease.

People were enjoying drinks, chatting, and watching the striptease, having a great time.

However, Fang Zhixing and his party stood out too much; as soon as they entered, they attracted everyone’s attention and the place fell silent.

Many of the drunken patrons caught sight of Jun Yao and were instantly mesmerized, their eyes glued to her, swallowing their spit uncontrollably.

"Come, sit over here."

The burly man walked to a table and waved his hand.

The youths at the table quickly stood up to give up their seats.

Fang Zhixing sat down with ease.

The burly man asked with a smile, "What would you like to drink?"

Fang Zhixing glanced at the bar, which had many kinds of drinks on display, all unfamiliar brands.

The burly man introduced, "Our most famous drink is ’Widow of the Twilight,’ a local specialty. Want to try?"

Fang Zhixing had no objections and nodded his head.

The burly man then signaled to the bartender and shouted, "Ten glasses, put it on my tab."

The barmaid brought over the drinks, which resembled wine and tasted somewhat sweet and spicy.

After taking a sip, the burly man curiously asked, "Where are you folks from?"

Fang Zhixing replied, "Ancient Imperial City. We’re here on a visit."

The burly man nodded in realization and laughed, "That’s great. Our Twilight Town has beautiful scenery. The residents live on traditional hunting and still maintain the lifestyle of the old civilization era."

Fang Zhixing understood and asked, "Are you a Martial Artist?"

"Indeed!"

A hint of pride surfaced between the burly man’s brows as he patted the badge on his chest and nodded, "I am a Second Level Martial Artist."

Fang Zhixing pondered and said, "Second Level is, Great Python Realm?"

The burly man perked up and chuckled, "Great Python Realm is an ancient term. Now, we uniformly call it Second Level."

At this point, he suddenly realized something and continued, "Could it be that the Ancient Imperial City still uses the ancient Realm divisions?"

Fang Zhixing replied, "I am a researcher of ancient cultures."

The burly man suddenly understood, laughing, "No wonder your clothes are full of classic style."

Fang Zhixing then asked, "Are there any mechanically enhanced people in Twilight Town?"

The burly man responded, "Just one, our town mayor. He’s a Second Level enhanced person."

Fang Zhixing inquired further, "Stronger than you?"

The burly man spread his hands and said, "Of course, he’s stronger. How could a Second Level Martial Artist possibly defeat a Second Level mechanically enhanced person?"

Fang Zhixing continued, "Both being Second Level, in what aspect is he stronger?"

The burly man explained carefully, "Our town has passed down the martial art ’Snake Form Fist’ from generation to generation. The mayor has modified his right arm into a mechanical snake arm. The arm’s strength has been enhanced, not inferior to a Third Level Martial Artist."

Fang Zhixing then asked, "Why haven’t you undergone enhancement?"

The burly man laughed bitterly, "If I had that much money, I would have been enhanced long ago."

Fang Zhixing posed another question, "Are there restrictions on enhancing the flesh? Is it only Martial Artists who are eligible for enhancement?"

The burly man was suddenly surprised and blurted out, "You don’t know this? Could you possibly be a follower of the ’Cult of Life’?"

No sooner had he spoken than he abruptly looked up toward the entrance.

Fang Zhixing focused his gaze and saw three more people entering, wearing uniforms.

"The chief of police is here!"

The scene fell silent once more, as everyone showed a look of reverence.

The chief of police and his two companions went straight to the bar, took off their hats, sat down, ordered drinks, and began to drink on their own.

Suddenly, they noticed Fang Zhixing and his party, their gaze lingering on Jun Yao, unable to move away.

The chief of police put down his drink, picked up his hat, and walked over.

His two deputies followed closely behind.

"Chief Duan." The burly man stood up and greeted the officer with a smile.

Chief Duan gave a casual nod, took a good look at Fang Zhixing and his companions, and asked, "These folks look very unfamiliar. Who are they?"

The burly man quickly said, "Just met some friends, they’re visiting from out of town."

The chief of police hummed in response, then his face turned serious as he said sternly, "I am Duan Junfeng, the chief of police of Twilight Town. Due to my duties, I’m going to need to see some identification to check your identities, thank you for your cooperation!"

Fang Zhixing replied indifferently, "That item, we didn’t bring with us, it’s left at the hotel."

Duan Junfeng’s lips twisted into a mocking smile.

The burly man frowned and looked at Fang Zhixing with a skeptical eye.

Seeing the situation, Fang Zhixing pursed his lips, realizing he had misspoken.

Duan Junfeng straightened up, placed his hands behind his back, and chuckled coldly, "I thought you were someone, but it turns out you’re just a bunch of wild carbon-based refugees."

Fang Zhixing calmly asked, "What do you mean?"

Duan Junfeng hehe’d, pointing at his head, and said with a smirk, "You don’t understand that? Every citizen of the Mechanical Continent has an identity chip implanted within their body from the moment of birth. Those without identity chips are stateless, not entitled to citizen rights!"

He pulled out white gloves, putting them on with no hurry, and huffed, "According to the Refugee Management Act, I am now arresting you."
