Chapter 614 - 334 Tomb

Chapter 614: 334 Tomb

It’s not hard to understand their behavior.

Indeed, now that everyone is wearing masks, nobody knows who anyone else is.

If those around you are all enemies, rashly revealing your identity could lead to an untimely death, could it not?

Thus, under the circumstances of being unable to determine if others are friends or foes, fleeing is undoubtedly the most sensible choice.

"Hey, where are they going?"

Xigou was perplexed and couldn’t quite grasp the situation for a moment.

Fang Zhixing conveyed via psychic message, "Be careful, this is the Ancient Imperial Forbidden Zone."

Xigou was greatly startled and looked around cautiously.

Suddenly, he saw a massive structure in the distance beyond the jungle, shaped like a pyramid.

The pyramid was immensely majestic, appearing thousands of meters tall, its apex piercing the clouds.

Upon seeing this, Xigou was just about to alert Fang Zhixing.

But he heard Fang Zhixing convey via psychic message, "Create a Shadow Clone to check the external environment."

Without a second word, Xigou’s shadow swelled immediately.

The Shadow Clone formed, sniffed the air, then jumped off the pillar and strolled around the jungle.

Shortly thereafter, the Shadow Clone returned, jumping next to Fang Zhixing.

Fang Zhixing crouched down, took a close look, and his expression changed instantly.

He saw that the Shadow Clone’s body had unexpectedly swelled with numerous variably sized tumors.

"The radiation in this restricted area is extremely severe!"

Xigou conveyed via psychic message, "This Shadow Clone is ruined, I can’t keep it."

Having said that, the Shadow Clone disintegrated and perished.

Fang Zhixing stood up, looked at the metal mecha on his body, and mused aloud, "Hmm, this suit of armor is too important. If it gets damaged, we will be exposed to intense radiation, and it will be doom for us."

Xigou quickly asked, "Do you know how to leave the Ancient Imperial Forbidden Zone?"

Fang Zhixing shook his head, raised his left hand, looked at the ring, and asked, "Can you provide any information about the Ancient Imperial Forbidden Zone?"

The ring emitted a beam of light, displaying a segment of blurry text, "This restricted area is filled with deadly poison. It is advised to leave as soon as possible."

Fang Zhixing was pleased, raising his eyebrows, "What is that pyramid in the distance?"

Ring, "A fortress built by the rulers of the previous dynasty..."

The text became even more blurred; the last few words were completely illegible.

"Is the signal bad?"

Fang Zhixing clicked his tongue and quickly asked, "How do I leave here?"

Ring, "The exit is in the fortress, be careful of the inside..."

The writing completely blurred.

Worse still, the ring flickered a few times then slowly dimmed, as if the power had run out.

Fang Zhixing was momentarily speechless.

Xigou couldn’t help but criticize, "What a piece of junk, it fails right at the critical moment!"

Fang Zhixing responded, "The exit is inside the fortress, regardless, we must make our way there."

Xigou had no objections.

So the man and his dog jumped off the pillar and swiftly ran towards the pyramid.

Suddenly, a cloud of dust arose from beneath the pyramid.

Fang Zhixing’s gaze flashed; he caught a glimpse of a figure dashing incredibly fast towards the pyramid, then vanishing in a flash.

"Not good, someone has gotten ahead of us and entered."

Xigou exclaimed, his body surging with power as he intended to increase his speed.

Fang Zhixing responded, "It doesn’t matter, having someone ahead to scout for us is a good thing."

Xigou thought about it and decided not to accelerate.

The pyramid drew nearer and nearer.

At that moment, Fang Zhixing and Xigou noticed that the entire pyramid was golden, seemingly formed naturally.

Apparently, this fortress had been cast from a massive block of gold, awe-inspiring!

Right at the base of the pyramid, there was an irregular aperture, trapezoidal in shape.

Fang Zhixing glanced at it; the trapezoidal aperture led to a pure golden corridor that reached into the depths.

"Let’s go!"

Fang Zhixing didn’t pause, directly charging into the aperture, his feet landing on the corridor.

Looking ahead, the corridor was very long, seemingly bottomless.

"Hey, there are murals!" Xigou suddenly exclaimed.

The walls on both sides of the corridor were carved with shallow reliefs.

Fang Zhixing first saw a stunning war painting depicting two armies battling.

One side was entirely composed of metal mechas, while the other was human.

Walking further, the second scene depicted the conclusion of the war.

The humans were utterly defeated!

The third scene depicted a man wearing a crown, presumably the Emperor, kneeling on the ground.

Above the Emperor’s head floated twelve people, walking on air, divine and majestic.

These twelve individuals happened to be wearing the Twelve Zodiac masks, draped in battle armor.

The Twelve Zodiac Battle Armor, identical to what Fang Zhixing and his companions were wearing.

The fourth scene was carved with the endless ocean and several massive ships traversing the seas.

The fifth scene, a continent appeared at the end of the ocean.

The Emperor stood at the bow of the ship, facing the wind, spirited, with countless subjects cheering and weeping with joy behind him.

The sixth mural depicted the Emperor leading his subjects to clear the land and establish a series of giant cities.

Before he knew it, Fang Zhixing had reached the end of the corridor.

Two pathways appeared ahead, one to the left and one to the right.

He looked back at the murals once more and mused, "This is most likely the process of the establishment of the former dynasty."

Xigou exclaimed in amazement, "The people of the former dynasty, they all came from overseas?"

Fang Zhixing nodded, "They were defeated by the mechas, forced to relocate their families, fleeing overseas, and ended up on this continent."

Xigou blinked in shock and speculated, "Could it be the Mechanical Empire?!"

Fang Zhixing deeply agreed, clicking his tongue, "Beyond our continent, indeed there are other lands."

Xigou looked left and right and asked, "Which way?"

Fang Zhixing released his Divine Soul Perception, but the very next second, he frowned deeply.

"Interesting!"

Fang Zhixing smacked his lips, "The building materials here can suppress spiritual power and disturb Divine Soul Perception."

He randomly chose the right side and stepped forward.

Before long, a carving of a door abruptly appeared on the walls of the corridor.

With a thought, Fang Zhixing raised his hand and pushed.

As soon as his hand touched the wall, there was a snap!

The golden door first receded inward, then slid to the right, revealing a large hall.

Fang Zhixing focused his gaze for a quick scan, his pupils involuntarily constricting.

Inside the hall, rows of golden cabinets were aligned, looking more and more like coffins.

"What is this?"

Xigou tiptoed forward, approaching the first golden coffin.

He sniffed the surface of the coffin and transmitted, "There’s a fishy smell."

Fang Zhixing paused momentarily and instructed, "Open it and let’s have a look."

Xigou stepped back and swept his paw downward.

Instantly, a gust of wind whooshed out, striking the golden coffin.

Crack!

A layer on top of the golden coffin moved and then flew off.

Xigou swatted the coffin lid away and peered inside.

"Damn, it’s a corpse!"

Xigou exclaimed.

Fang Zhixing walked up cautiously, constantly watching his back.

Fortunately, the door did not suddenly close on its own.

He looked down closely and saw a mangled corpse lying in the coffin.

It was a young man, stark naked, without any clothes on.

The young man was missing an arm, and there was a huge hole in his chest.

This body had been lying here for who knows how many years.

Strangely, the corpse was still very fresh, as if the person had just died, and even the blood had not completely coagulated and dried.

Fang Zhixing pondered, "When the previous dynasty fell, many people must have fled into the Ancient Imperial Forbidden Zone; this man should be one of them."

Xigou glanced around and clicked his tongue, "So that means all of these are coffins!"

Fang Zhixing nodded and said, "This pyramid is essentially a tomb."

Xigou realized this and looked at the body again, then suddenly said, "It seems like there’s something pressed under him."

Fang Zhixing waved his hand and, without touching the body, conjured a gust of wind.

The body flew up and crashed onto the ground.

The bottom of the coffin was fully exposed in an instant.

There was a long sword, with a jade token still tied to the handle.

Fang Zhixing immediately noticed the engraving on the jade token, which read "Imperial Guard."

"Well, well, this person was actually an Imperial Guard!"

Xigou came to a realization, continuously saying, "He must have died in battle for the Emperor and was subsequently buried with him."

Fang Zhixing nodded and said, "Perhaps, the body of the previous dynasty’s emperor is also somewhere in this pyramid."

Xigou was excited, "The Emperor’s burial artifacts must be extremely luxurious!"

Fang Zhixing hummed an acknowledgment and turned to walk towards the door.

Xigou hurried after him, asking, "Aren’t you going to open the other coffins for a look?"

Fang Zhixing shook his head and said, "They’re just a bunch of Imperial Guards; there’s nothing good."

Indeed, that long sword was only a Third Level weapon.

Fang Zhixing naturally disdained it.

The man and the dog continued forward.

Shortly after, they encountered another golden door.

But this door was open.

Fang Zhixing approached the door, scanned it, and then saw a large hall.

This hall was relatively empty, not filled with many golden coffins, just four of them.

At that moment, a Metal Mecha in pig’s head mask stood in front of the four coffins.

The figure also became immediately aware of someone outside and swiftly turned around.

The air seemed to solidify.

Fang Zhixing and the pig’s Head Mecha eyed each other tensely, as if on the brink of battle, entering combat mode.

After a long moment, the pig’s Head Mecha suddenly spoke, "Who might you be?"

Fang Zhixing indifferently replied, "And who might you be?"

The pig’s Head Mecha fell silent, then slowly said, "If we fight now, the outcome is uncertain, but continuing like this will only benefit others who seize the advantage. How about we coexist peacefully instead?"

The corners of Fang Zhixing’s mouth lifted, and he retracted his murderous intent.

The pig’s Head Mecha seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and continued, "There are four coffins here; if I’m not mistaken, they enclose four eunuchs’ corpses."

Fang Zhixing asked, "Four eunuchs, why do they occupy a whole hall on their own?"

The pig’s Head Mecha continuously explained, "Most likely they were the personal eunuchs of the previous Emperor, holding relatively high positions."

Then he stepped back a few steps, showing goodwill, "Four coffins, let’s each check two, and I’ll let you pick first."

Fang Zhixing continually said, "Everything has its order; you pick first."

"Alright!"

The pig’s Head Mecha was not overly polite and casually said, "Then I’ll pick these two on the left."

Fang Zhixing walked directly to the right, raising his hand in a sweeping motion.

Clang clang~

The lids of the coffins flew off, exposing two naked corpses.

From between their legs, it was undeniable that they indeed were eunuchs.

Both eunuchs had an aged and withered appearance, their bodies shriveled, and their deep wrinkles resembled old tree bark.

Bang!

Suddenly, the pig’s Head Mecha kicked out, destroying the two coffins on the left.

Two corpses rolled out, along with some burial goods.

"Oh, so they were the Emperor’s personal scribes!"

The pig’s Head Mecha picked up a jade token and sneered, "They indeed were the Emperor’s servants, privileged enough to assist the Emperor in managing state affairs."

Fang Zhixing observed and raised an eyebrow, "These four eunuchs show no injuries; they seem to have died of old age."

The pig’s Head Mecha pondered, "Those people from the previous dynasty who fled here must have lived for a while before they gradually passed away."

Fang Zhixing asked, "Did you find anything?"

The pig’s Head Mecha shook his head and sighed, "Ah, just eunuchs, what good burial goods could they have?"

That said, he picked up two black pearls and quickly stuffed them into his pocket.

Fang Zhixing also moved aside the two old eunuchs’ corpses and discovered a long sword under each coffin.

Unfortunately, both swords were broken, seemingly snapped on purpose.

The hilt was inlaid with a black pearl, the same kind the pig’s Head Mecha had just taken.

Fang Zhixing didn’t know the use of these black pearls but decided to collect them for now.

Turning around, he then saw the pig’s Head Mecha walking out...
