Chapter 201: 137 Flower Fields

By this point, conditions 1, 2, 3, and 5 had been completed without much fanfare.

Only condition 4 remained.

This particular condition was quite peculiar, requiring Fang Zhixing to live in an absolutely dark space for seven days.

"Locking myself up in solitary confinement?"

Fang Zhixing contemplated for a moment. The places that fit the "absolutely dark space" were nothing more than a cellar or a hidden room.

"Most hidden rooms are privately built for personal use."

Fang Zhixing thought about it, and he knew of just one place that had such a room.

It was the location where the Iron Casting Hall’s Xuanwu Pavilion stored the Martial Arts Secret Manuals.

"It’s impossible for me to stay in that hidden room for seven days without coming out, and ’absolutely dark’ means that during those seven days, I cannot open the door at all..."

Fang Zhixing quickly dismissed this idea, preferring to look for a secluded cellar.

"Hmm, no rush, let’s head back to the camp first."

Fang Zhixing was in high spirits as he embarked on the awning boat.

The boat swiftly made its way to the lakeside ferry crossing.

Fang Zhixing disembarked, cheerfully paid the boatman and the elderly guide, and headed straight back to the camp.

Before long, he learned that less than fifteen miles south of the camp, there was a small village named "Apricot Blossom Village."

Fang Zhixing quickly got himself ready and rode to the village.

Soon, a vast expanse of apricot forests appeared before him.

After the harsh winter, life had revived, and it was the season for apricot blossoms to bloom.

Walking among the apricot blossoms was like drifting in a pink ocean.

Blossoms of apricot trees, white tinged with red, petals moist and translucent, seemed intoxicated, flushed with color on every branch.

"Look at that, pretty nice, huh."

Xigou joyfully jumped up, bit off a tender flower bud, and his mouth was filled with a refreshing fragrance.

Fang Zhixing rode on his horse, slowing down to enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Suddenly, he lifted his head and saw at the end of the path through the forest, a beautiful and peaceful village emerged.

At the outermost perimeter of the village stood a circle of bamboo fences, and within, rows of fenced courtyards were neatly arranged, simple yet elegant.

Each courtyard was filled with various flowers and plants, their fragrance pervading the air while vines draped over the fences, forming leafy shades.

Grass and plants covered the corridors, walls half-enshrouded by purple and green vines.

The place seemed like a pastoral painting, full of poetry and picturesque charm, delightfully intriguing.

"No way, is this Apricot Blossom Village an earthly paradise?"

Xigou was astounded, staring in amazement.

In these unstable times, to find such a quaint and picturesque place far from the turmoil was extremely rare!

Fang Zhixing’s brows wrinkled slightly, equally astonished.

His hand secretly gripped a flying knife, cautiously approaching the village.

Outside the village was a stone.

At this moment, there was a white-bearded old man wearing a bamboo hat leaning against the stone, legs crossed, leisurely smoking a pipe.

Fang Zhixing cupped his fists and asked, "Excuse me, elder, is this Apricot Blossom Village?"

The old man nodded and said, "Yes, are you here to buy flowers?"

To buy flowers?

Fang Zhixing was startled and asked in surprise, "Is Apricot Blossom Village in the business of cultivating flowers?"

The old man laughed proudly and said, "The flowers cultivated in Apricot Blossom Village are famous near and far, all precious and rare varieties, supplied especially for the gardens of the great houses and mansions."

Fang Zhixing quickly understood.

So, Apricot Blossom Village was a flower cultivation base, and all its villagers were flower gardeners.

"No wonder the village is so beautiful, filled with exotic flowers and plants." Xigou also realized it.

Fang Zhixing asked, "Elder, I would like to rent a room that comes with a well-sealed cellar. Is there such a house in the village?"

The old man thought for a moment and replied, "Try asking ’Flower Maiden.’ Go straight ahead, walk to the deepest part of the village, and the largest fenced courtyard is hers."

Fang Zhixing thanked him and rode into the village.

Moments later, he arrived at the end of the road.

What came into view was a large field of flowers, row upon row.

In the center of the flower field stood a spacious and large two-story bamboo building, imbued with an air of antiquity.

Fang Zhixing followed the winding path to the gate of the bamboo building.

"Woof woof!"

Suddenly, a large black dog rushed out, barking at Fang Zhixing and Xigou from behind the fence gate.

Xigou glanced at the black dog with disdain.

Provoked by this, the black dog seemed to get even angrier, barking incessantly behind the gate.

Fang Zhixing dismounted, noticing a bell hanging on the door, and he shook it.

Ding-dong-dong~

The bell’s sound gradually carried.

Soon after, a woman’s head emerged from the second floor of the bamboo building, quickly withdrawing.

Although Fang Zhixing only caught a glimpse, he felt that the woman had an elegant and radiant presence, seemingly a great beauty.

Next, the woman came out of the bamboo building and approached the fence gate.

"Little Black, stop barking."

The woman reached out to stroke the dog’s head.

The big black dog immediately calmed down.

Fang Zhixing looked closely and sure enough, she was extremely beautiful, with delicate features, her skin fair as porcelain, and her figure voluptuous.

Light freckles adorned her cheeks, adding to her charming allure.

Inwardly, Fang Zhixing appraised her; more mature than Luo Qianqian, with a wild beauty that Su Niang did not possess.

"Who are you, and whom are you looking for?"

With the sun high, the woman raised her hand to shield her eyes, examining the tall and well-built Fang Zhixing.

"My name is Fang Zhixing, from Qinglin County. May I ask if you are Flower Maiden?"

Fang Zhixing replied with a smile, "I would like to rent a room with a cellar. Someone told me that you have one."

Flower Maiden fell silent for a moment, then asked with furrowed brows, "What do you need the cellar for?"
