Chapter 56: Chapter 56: That woman also has a child?

Ye Yixing got off the car, still looking dumbfounded at the half stick of kumquat sugar-coated fruits in his hand.

Just now, Cousin Lu Yun kept staring at the sugar-coated fruit in his hand, making him afraid to throw it away.

Just as he was about to toss it into a nearby trash can, a deafening roar suddenly came from behind him.

"Ye Yixing! You’re back so late, where have you been fooling around again?"

Before the words were finished, his ear was grabbed by his own father.

Ye Yixing’s expression twisted more from pain than from eating the sugar-coated fruit just now.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch! Dad! Be gentle!"

"Better fess up! Out so late and not back home, where have you been fooling around?"

Ye Yixing quickly responded, "I wasn’t fooling around, I just came back with Cousin."

"Lu Yun?" In the living room, Ye’s father paused and let go.

Ye Yixing collapsed onto the sofa, motionless.

He knew that as long as he mentioned his cousin, his father would certainly calm down, tried and true.

"Are you sure you’re not lying to your old man?"

"If you don’t believe me, you can ask Cousin, he just dropped me off."

Hearing this, Ye’s father finally dismissed his doubts.

Once Ye Yixing saw that his father had settled down, he went to the bathroom to wash up.

On the coffee table was the kumquat sugar-coated fruit that Ye Yixing had casually tossed there.

Curious, Ye’s father walked over and picked up the sugar-coated fruit.

"What’s this?"

Raised with a silver spoon, Ye’s father saw such a fruit wrapped in sugar snack for the first time.

He leaned in to sniff it; it had a hint of sweetness, and a faint fruit fragrance.

He gave it a lick, it was quite sweet, edible.

So he took a big bite, but just as he was preparing to slowly enjoy it, a sweet-sour with a tinge of bitterness filled his entire mouth.

"Pah! Pah! Pah!"

Ye’s father quickly spat it out, his whole expression changing.

When his son came out of the bathroom, a feather duster swung harshly across his back.

"You unfilial brat, bringing this kind of snack back for me. Are you trying to poison me early so you can inherit my empire?"

Ye Yixing was left bewildered by his father’s hit.

What is this about?

When did he ever intend to harm him?

Stop taking these wealthy family melodramas to heart, okay?

Soon, Ye Yixing noticed the kumquat sugar-coated fruit in his father’s hand and understood.

"Dad, why are you eating this thing? I was going to throw it away."

"Throw it away?" Ye’s father said, "Then why did you buy it in the first place?"

Ye Yixing: "I didn’t buy it, someone gave it to me."

Ye’s father paused: "Who gave it to you? Are they trying to murder you?"

Ye Yixing looked awkward: "It’s not like that, they gave it to me as a kind gesture because I helped them with their kid."

"What? That woman even has a child?"

Saying this, Ye’s father swung the stick at Ye Yixing again.

"You’ve become quite skilled, huh? Claiming you’re not fooling around, yet clinging to someone who’s already got children."

At this time, a whole drama played out in Ye’s father’s mind, thinking his son fell for a married woman.

"Dad! Enough with your wild imagination, I haven’t even said anything like that."

Ye Yixing was completely speechless at the moment.

Ye’s father stopped: "Fine, then explain, what’s the deal with that woman and child?"

"That child is my cousin’s..." Suddenly realizing, Ye Yixing stopped, remembering that his cousin having kids was still under wraps, and his dad, being a big mouth, would make things even worse if it got out.

Ye’s father: "Speak! Why’d you stop?"

"Dad, it’s nothing like what you’re thinking." It’s the only thing Ye Yixing could say.

"I see, you can’t even come up with an excuse to fool me anymore."

Ye’s father picked up the feather duster and swung at him again.

Ye Yixing dodged quickly: "Dad, don’t just swing at people, I haven’t done anything wrong."

"You haven’t done anything wrong? You’re out fooling around all day, I told you to learn from your cousin, and all you bring back is this junk."

Ye Yixing, dodging to the other side of the dining table, muttered defiantly, "I did learn!"

"What did you learn?" Ye’s father, fuming.

"How to show off!"

Ye Yixing said confidently, leaving Ye’s father momentarily dumbfounded.

When he realized, he instantly got angry: "What the hell? I see it’s been too long since your last spanking, your skin’s itching!"

With a feather duster in hand, he ran towards his son.

The two of them ran around the dining table.

Arriving home, Su Xingwan picked up one of the kids and walked inside, while Tang Muya helped by picking up the other one, and Little Su Yan slowly followed Su Xingwan inside.

"I’m heading off now!" Tang Muya said after putting the child in the bedroom.

"Alright, thank you!" Su Xingwan said with a smile.

"No need to thank me." Tang Muya replied with a smile, then left.

Once Tang Muya was gone, Su Xingwan looked at the two little ones sleeping soundly on the bed, and the first thing she did was turn on the warm air conditioning, then carefully took off their cotton jackets and covered them with a blanket.

She turned to Little Su Yan, who was still standing there, "Yanbao, you should get ready for bed too. You’ve got to wake up early tomorrow."

"Mm."

As Su Xingwan went to help him undress, Little Su Yan said, "I don’t need you to help, I can do it myself."

Already used to handling his own matters, Little Su Yan wasn’t comfortable with her approaching.

"Alright, you do it," Su Xingwan didn’t insist.

Once Little Su Yan had taken off his thick jacket, Su Xingwan watched him get into bed, lying next to the two little ones, and she went over to tuck him in.

Then she gently touched his forehead and said, "Auntie is going to sleep now. Sleep well, I’ll wake you in the morning."

After making sure Little Su Yan had his eyes closed and was sleeping, she turned off the small nightlight by the bed and left their room.

After finishing her own evening routine, Su Xingwan returned to her room, turned on the light, lay on her bed, and suddenly felt a bit unaccustomed to not having the two little ones sleeping beside her.

The next morning, at dawn.

The two little ones were the first to open their bright eyes.

"Auntie."

They turned over but didn’t see their aunt lying next to them, instead it was their brother.

And the bed they were on wasn’t the one they had shared with their aunt, but the one they originally slept on.

"Where’s Auntie?"

The two little ones, puzzled, sat up from the bed.

Little Su Yan, disturbed by his younger sibling’s movements, also woke up.

He then saw his siblings immediately searching for their aunt.

After a few seconds of silence, he said, "Auntie is in another room."

The two little ones blinked at his words.

Are we not going to sleep with Auntie anymore?

The alarm clock by Su Xingwan’s bedside rang. She reached out from under the covers to shut it off, then slowly got up from bed, still a bit sleepy, and put on the down jacket that was left beside the bed. When she was about to get down from bed, she noticed two little lumps huddled at her door, peeking in stealthily with their tiny heads.
