Chapter 227: Chapter 227: Don’t Speak Without Thinking

"You’re going to participate in a variety show with Feng Siyu?"

When Lu Yanchuan got the news, Qiao Yi was already packing her luggage, ready to depart.

"Do you still remember that incident when Feng Siyu got injured in country T?"

"Of course I remember, but this time I’m just going to participate in a show; there won’t be any danger like that."

Qiao Yi had gone through the general script with the director’s team and roughly knew what kind of process there would be. There were no projects involving life safety at all, otherwise Qiao Yi herself wouldn’t have participated, and she may even have asked Feng Siyu to give up on this show.

Lu Yanchuan had words of persuasion for Qiao Yi on the tip of his tongue but didn’t know how to say them.

He had a subconscious feeling of unease, but it was baseless and inexplicable even to himself, let alone believable to Qiao Yi.

As for Qiao Yi, when she heard that a hot new celebrity, President Yang, was among the resident guests, she became ecstatic.

With this opportunity to go out and meet a hunk, nobody was going to stop her!

Seeing Qiao Yi determined to go, Lu Yanchuan found himself unable to voice his plea for her to give up; he could only repeatedly tell her to be careful and that he would send someone to secretly protect her, but Qiao Yi herself must absolutely not take any risks!

Qiao Yi, with her suitcase in hand, left Lu Yanchuan, who was fussing like an old maid, behind and followed the crew members onto the plane heading to the filming location of the show.

That’s right, the director’s team had come to Qiao Yi’s home, and the recording started from the moment the guests started calling their friends.

Apart from the two guests invited by following the script of the show’s crew, the other guests had to personally find people, and of course, they had rejections too, which would all be shown as behind-the-scenes clips later on.

Someone as straightforward and prompt in agreeing like Qiao Yi was only Feng Siyu, which immediately made Feng Siyu look good in front of all the other guests.

Qiao Yi was followed by a cameraman and two directors en route, responsible for chatting with Qiao Yi to produce entertaining variety show effects.

However, in just a short time, Qiao Yi’s charm had already conquered these three people, and they chatted warmly, arriving at the recording site before they knew it.

Since Qiao Yi arrived quite late, a few other people had already gotten there and were eating dinner at the hotel restaurant. Qiao Yi handed over her luggage to the director and went directly to the restaurant to find Feng Siyu.

The dining room was booked by the show’s crew, with nine people sitting around a large table and a row of cameras set up on the side.

Honestly speaking, Qiao Yi didn’t feel much when facing a single camera, but now sitting here facing a dozen cameras, she was actually a bit nervous.

"My baby! You finally came! I thought you were going to stand me up!"

From afar, Qiao Yi heard Feng Siyu’s voice, and as she saw her running over in high heels, Qiao Yi feared she might sprain her ankle.

"I promised you I’d come, so of course I would."

The two hugged when they met, and Feng Siyu whispered to Qiao Yi that this was requested by the show’s crew, to demonstrate their good relationship.

Qiao Yi clearly saw Feng Siyu roll her eyes, then immediately turned around with a smile, pulling Qiao Yi to the table to introduce her.

This variety show was a tailor-made program by Lantai with a lot of effort, and of course, the invited guests were all big names.

From veteran actors to new starlets, the lineup was so extravagant that it could almost be considered the pinnacle of variety shows.

Of course, among all these celebrity big shots, Qiao Yi, a non-celebrity, seemed rather insignificant.

After the introductions, Qiao Yi sat down next to Feng Siyu, and the group chatted casually before the dishes were served.

Qiao Yi had no intention of being too high-profile, she just planned to accompany Feng Siyu and finish recording the show properly. But while she wanted to keep a low profile, someone else didn’t want her to stay unnoticed.

Qiao Yi wasn’t sure if the show’s crew did it on purpose, but four seats away from Feng Siyu, there was another female singer.

Her dress and demeanor were inexplicably similar to Feng Siyu’s, and when the crew introduced them, they were even placed together, so Qiao Yi guessed her identity.

The popular singer Jiajia, following the same fiery and charming route as Feng Siyu, only with a background that was perhaps not as prominent as Feng Siyu’s, longed to surpass Feng Siyu, but was kept under by Feng Siyu’s stable hold.

She was an absurdly appearing rival to Feng Siyu.

"Yuan, I heard your family has a mine. The friend you invited is also a big boss; why don’t you properly introduce him to us?"

Jiajia was one of those who read from the show’s script. Her "friend" was veteran actor Mr. Li, who had good skills and decent status but still lacked in popularity compared to others here, ranking medium among these stars.

She wasn’t satisfied with her "friend," but seeing the "ordinary friend" Feng Siyu brought, she instantly felt pleased.

Feng Siyu had always been flaunting her superior family background and noble status, and now she had brought such a friend; let’s see how she’d get slapped in the face!

"Yuan’s family has a mine?"

The one speaking was a guest sitting on the other side of Feng Siyu, a young guy who didn’t seem too bright. He was introduced as a comedian talking about cross-talk.

Feng Siyu almost couldn’t maintain her cold demeanor.

Jiajia’s words were clearly provocative and sarcastic, but this silly boy actually took it seriously!

"No mine. The minerals found on our land do not belong to any individual; they are national assets that cannot be unlawfully owned."

Qiao Yi’s indifferent comment immediately silenced everyone.

With her there, someone actually dared to bully her bestie—clearly a fool looking for trouble!

"Sister, you’re really joking..."

Even the silly boy realized the stiffness in the air and started scratching his head with a dry laugh.

But Qiao Yi had no intention of letting this opportunity slip and set down her chopsticks, getting serious as she started educating the silly boy.

"The mineral resources spread across our nation are not owned by any one person; these are the nation’s assets, and their ultimate ownership should belong to the country..."

The table was taught a five-minute lesson on the law, and by the end, the silly boy who had started the conversation was seeing stars, and Qiao Yi’s lips curled slightly with satisfaction.

"...So, in the future, don’t recklessly say such brainless things. Be careful or the police uncle will take you away!"

The silly boy nodded, seeming to have undergone a thorough enlightenment, both physically and spiritually.

He probably wouldn’t want to hear the words "law" ever again.

Jiajia nearly cracked her teeth in anger; Qiao Yi’s words were clearly mocking her—for being brainless, for speaking without thought!

Sure enough, she was a friend of that bitch Feng Siyu, just as annoying as her!
