Chapter 196: Chapter 196 I’m Very Worried About You

"What does this string of numbers mean? An address? Coordinates? Or a password?"

Qiao Yi showed Andy’s message to Lu Yanchuan, but he too was unable to decipher any secrets from the seemingly random numbers.

Not understanding Andy’s intention, and hesitant to reply carelessly, Qiao Yi decided to visit Sun Group in person to see if she could meet Andy.

She couldn’t tell Lu Yanchuan about this decision—she was certain he would object—but she simply couldn’t rest easy without checking things out for herself.

The next morning, under the pretext of discussing collaboration details, Qiao Yi went to Sun Group and met with the manager responsible for liaison work.

Fortunately, the manager was patient. Even after Qiao Yi pointed out some trivial issues, he still continued the discussion with a smile.

"By the way, I had previously collaborated with your company, and the person in charge of that project was Andy, the president’s assistant. I haven’t seen her these last few meetings. Is she still unwell?"

When the project was first transferred to this manager, Sun Group had explained that Andy was ill and couldn’t continue with the project, which was why there was a last-minute change of personnel.

Qiao Yi had been holding back until now to ask about Andy, fearing that showing too much concern might cast doubt on Andy’s identity.

The manager’s facial expression stiffened ever so slightly before returning to a smile.

"Miss Andy fell ill quite suddenly and hasn’t been able to return to work since. I’ll convey Miss Qiao’s well wishes to Miss Andy on your behalf."

The manager’s answer was impeccably tight-lipped, but the more flawless it was, the deeper Qiao Yi’s suspicions grew.

She hadn’t missed that fleeting moment of unease on the manager’s face!

"Do you know which hospital Miss Andy is in? I happen to know a decent doctor who might be able to help her," Qiao Yi said, showing no signs of leaving without some answers about Andy’s whereabouts and the reason behind the prolonged silence.

"This..."

"Thank you for your concern, Miss Qiao. There’s no major issue with my health now."

Andy entered through the door, walking in slowly amid the manager’s surprise and Qiao Yi’s delight.

"There’s no need for you to stay; I can continue the discussion with Miss Qiao. You may leave," Andy said, giving the manager a polite but indifferent glance before taking a seat opposite Qiao Yi.

"I didn’t expect Miss Qiao to visit Sun Group personally. Do you have any particular requirements for this project? We can make suitable adjustments based on your needs."

The conversation between Qiao Yi and Andy was harmonious, leaving the manager unable to interject, and he left the meeting room with a sullen face.

"You..."

"It’s almost noon. Allow me to invite Miss Qiao for a simple lunch."

Andy gestured in front of Qiao Yi and, after glancing at her watch, stood up with a polite invitation.

Qiao Yi immediately understood Andy’s intention and followed her out of Sun Group.

Once in the car, Andy took out a small white box, flipped a switch on it, and then began to speak.

"Sun Group isn’t a safe place for conversations. Sun Wenbin has installed many cameras there, and I don’t even know where they all are. It’s better to be cautious."

It’s unthinkable for someone to install so many cameras within their own company. Grandfather must have had his reasons, whether to protect against someone or to capture something else.

Seeing the small box in Andy’s hand, Qiao Yi watched as Andy smiled and passed it to her.

"This is a miniature signal jammer, effective only within a two-meter radius, not very useful."

Despite Andy’s smiling tone, Qiao Yi sensed an undercurrent of gloom in her expression.

It was hard to imagine the kind of environment Andy lived in that required her to carry such a device—the only purpose of which was to block signals and prevent surveillance.

Qiao Yi and Andy chose a private room in a nearby restaurant for their meal, and only after sitting down did Andy finally relax.

"Why did you suddenly visit Sun Group today?"

"The project’s leader was changed, and you had been out of touch. Then you sent me a string of strange numbers. I was worried about you, so I came to see if I could meet you."

Qiao Yi was speaking the truth, but her words brought tears to Andy’s eyes.

"I’m fine. I was out on a business trip with Sun Wenbin; I’ve been watched closely these past few days and couldn’t send messages."

Qiao Yi didn’t dwell on what Andy had been up to, as long as she was safe.

"As for that string of numbers, it’s the password for Sun Wenbin’s office safe and the one in his house’s basement. I couldn’t write it down, so I sent it to you."

Andy explained, prompting Qiao Yi, surprised, to look at her phone again at the string of numbers before asking uncertainly,

"Safe password? How did you get it?"

"I installed cameras in both Sun Wenbin’s house and office. I bought this jammer at the same time—it’s quite effective, shall I send you the link?"

Qiao Yi’s tension scattered amidst Andy’s nonchalance. Seeing that Andy took such matters lightly, Qiao Yi decided not to fuss further.

"Never mind, such a gadget would be useless for me; you keep it."

Now that Andy’s safety was confirmed, Qiao Yi’s mind was at ease, and she didn’t press further about what exactly Andy had been doing.

After all, her relationship with Andy was strictly professional; Andy had no obligation to report her every move to Qiao Yi.

Midway through their meal, Qiao Yi broached the subject of Sun Hua, seeking information from Andy.

"Do you know Sun Hua? The HR Manager of Sun Group."

At the mention of the name, Andy’s body jolted, nearly dropping her chopsticks.

"How do you know about Sun Hua?"

Andy strived to maintain composure, but the tremble in her voice betrayed her unsettled emotions.

It was clear to Qiao Yi that Andy knew Sun Hua and that there was an undisclosed connection between them—a connection that was substantial enough to elicit such a response from Andy. Sun Hua must have been a source of pain for Andy, maybe even an ongoing one.

Though reluctant to distress Andy, Qiao Yi knew the importance of understanding the link between Sun Hua and Jenfors.

"Jenfors met with Sun Hua before kidnapping me, and they even dined together. I suspect Sun Hua is the contact between Sun Group and Jenfors."

While she spoke, Andy managed to regain her composure and hesitantly said,

"I know Sun Hua. He’s Sun Jianguo’s son, my brother, and also Sun Wenbin’s close nephew."
