Chapter 244 Who is that girl?

Chapter 244: Chapter 244 Who is that girl?

Nan Qiao came out and, seeing the car parked by the roadside, walked over to it.

Li Yehan pushed open the car door from the inside, and Nan Qiao got in and closed the door.

Li Yehan took Nan Qiao’s hand, his eyes filled with helplessness.

The once overbearing and ruthless man almost turned into a puppy dog.

"Qiaoqiao, am I really that disgraceful? Is our relationship something to be ashamed of? Why can’t I come out and wait for you?"

Nan Qiao replied, "It’s rush hour after work. If you stand outside the car, you’ll definitely attract a lot of stares. Li Yehan, don’t you have any idea what you look like?"

Tall stature, perfect facial features, and an air of nobility, especially when he’s dressed in a finely-tailored business suit.

How could anyone not notice Li Yehan!

Li Yehan remained silent.

With all points made by Nan Qiao, he really couldn’t argue against them.

Whatever Qiaoqiao said went; Li Yehan always listened to her.

"I’ll take you to change your clothes," Li Yehan said, smiling as he held Nan Qiao’s hand.

Nan Qiao changed into a white dress, reapplied her makeup, and casually tied up her hair.

Today it was Mo Shaolin’s birthday, and he was the man of the hour.

Moreover, since today’s gathering was between friends, it was better to keep things low key.

Upon arrival, Li Yehan opened the car door, and Nan Qiao got out.

The two stood together, and Li Yehan raised his arm, the gesture meaning more than words could say.

Nan Qiao smiled helplessly but still slipped her hand through Li Yehan’s arm and walked in with him.

Inside the private room, Yun Xia sat next to Mo Shaolin, her head lowered, betraying no emotion.

Mo Shaolin frowned and lifted her chin, forcing Yun Xia to look at him.

Mo Shaolin asked harshly, "Today is my birthday, not my funeral. Who are you pulling that long face for? Do you wish I were dead?"

Yun Xia calmly asked, "Mo Shaolin, I know you saved my life, but saving me doesn’t mean you can control it, right? Why didn’t you call the police and let them help me find my family?"

Mo Shaolin replied, "I rescued you near Demon Island. Do you understand what it means for a woman to enter that area, fall into the sea, and get shot?"

"What does it mean?" Yun Xia didn’t understand.

Mo Shaolin spoke in a lower voice, "Do you think a normal girl would go there? I suspect you stole something from Shui Jing Island and got shot for it before falling into the sea. I rescued you, and you’re not only ungrateful but also want me to call the police? Aren’t you afraid of losing your life?"

Yun Xia stared blankly at Mo Shaolin. She was timid, vulnerable, and frail. She didn’t know who she was or where to go.

But she didn’t want to stay with Mo Shaolin any longer.

"Today is your birthday; happy birthday to you. I’m going back first." Yun Xia ran out.

Mo Shaolin chased after her, "Do you even know where you are? Can you make it out on your own?"

Yun Xia kept running forward, her hair covering her cheeks, "I can make it out; I know where the door is. Don’t think I’ve forgotten the way just because you brought me here!"

Yun Xia ran into Nan Qiao as she was escaping.

With a tearful voice, Yun Xia apologized and ran away in a panic.

Mo Shaolin, seeing Li Yehan’s frown, said apologetically, "Ye Han, you take Nan Qiao to Room 888 first; I’ll be right there."

After chasing after Yun Xia, Nan Qiao turned to Li Yehan, "Why was that girl crying? Is she Mo Shaolin’s girlfriend?"

Li Yehan replied, "I’m not quite sure of the specifics, but Mo Shaolin hasn’t been quite right lately."

Mo Shaolin shoved Yun Xia into the car and locked the doors.

"Let me out!" Yun Xia yelled angrily.

"Stop throwing a tantrum. If you don’t want to attend my birthday party, then I’ll have the driver take you back first. I’ve invited friends over, and I can’t neglect them. You go back first, and I’ll come to you later."

Mo Shaolin got out of the car and instructed the driver to take Yun Xia back.

When Mo Shaolin arrived back at the private room, he only saw Li Yehan and not Nan Qiao.

"Ye Han, where’s your other half?"

Li Yehan responded, "There was an emergency at home, and Qiaoqiao had to leave first."

Mo Shaolin thought, "..." The two really were like brothers in adversity!

Li Yehan paused, then asked, "Who was that girl?"

"Someone unimportant. Come on, let’s drink. We’re not leaving until we’re drunk."

Mo Shaolin picked up the drink and toasted with Li Yehan.

At the same time, Nan Qiao, who had returned home, went to her grandparents’ house.

Granny Bai, seeing Nan Qiao in the white dress, brightened up, "Qiaoqiao looks so beautiful."

Nan Qiao had rushed back, worried that something might have happened to Granny Bai.

Seeing that she was all right, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Grandpa Bai explained awkwardly, "Qiaoqiao, there’s nothing wrong with your granny. She called you because she had a little stomach pain. Did we delay your work?"

"Grandpa, I’m fine," Nan Qiao said smilingly.

Nan Qiao sat down, "Granny, let me take your pulse and check on you."

Granny Bai offered her hand, and while Nan Qiao took her pulse, everyone kept quiet, not wanting to disturb her.

Before long, Nan Qiao spoke, "Granny, you’ve just woken up, so eat less and ease back into your diet slowly."

Granny Bai felt a bit embarrassed as she knew she had overeaten and her stomach couldn’t cope.

"Qiaoqiao, I’m really sorry for making you come all the way here."

"Granny, you’re being too polite. I was planning to come by after work anyway; it just so happened to work out."

Granny Bai took a heavy golden bracelet from her pocket and handed it to Nan Qiao, "Qiaoqiao, this is a little something from me."

Nan Qiao pushed it back, "Granny, you’re my own grandmother; am I charging you for my services?"

It seemed to Nan Qiao that the Bai family really liked to give her gifts.

Granny Bai explained, "It’s not for services; it’s just a token of my affection. All these material things mean nothing to me. Even mountains of gold can’t compare to good health."

Grandpa Bai brought Nan Qiao a plate of pastries and a beverage, "Qiaoqiao, accept what your granny offers you. I’ve just made some fresh pastries this afternoon, try some."

After washing her hands and returning, Nan Qiao started eating the pastries, her eyes lighting up.

"Grandpa, the pastries from your household are really delicious."

Grandpa Bai responded with a chuckle, "Your granny made these, and her pastries are incomparable. Ever since she fell into a coma, I haven’t tasted anything quite as delicious."

Granny Bai said lovingly, "Qiaoqiao, if you like them, take some home. I’ll make different kinds tomorrow; you should try everything I can make."

"Thank you, Granny." Nan Qiao grinned and took another piece.

Seeing someone enjoying her cooking was a great compliment, and the more Granny Bai watched Nan Qiao eat, the dearer she grew in her eyes.

After finishing the pastries, Nan Qiao remembered Ma Guifen and decided to bring her up.

"Grandpa, Granny, do you still remember Ma Guifen?"
