Chapter 239 Zhou Hongqi Collapsed

Chapter 239: Chapter 239 Zhou Hongqi Collapsed

Zhou Hongqi saw the whole scene and was furious.

"Yanfang, how could you keep such a thing from me!" Zhou Hongqi felt suffocated and hurt.

Zhou Jingya looked at Yanfang with tearful eyes, pretending she knew nothing.

Yanfang steeled her heart and spoke, "Old Zhou, I’m sorry. Xiao Ya knows nothing. When I was with you, I didn’t even know I was pregnant."

"So, what? You’ve known all along that Qiaoqiao was not my child?"

Yanfang’s eyes panicked, and she tried to defend herself, but she heard Zhou Hongqi accuse her, "Now I see, because you knew Nan Qiao wasn’t my daughter, nor your daughter, you sent her to the countryside to fend for herself. At first, I didn’t understand why you treated Nan Qiao that way, but now I finally get it. Yanfang, has your conscience been eaten by a dog?"

Yanfang yelled loudly, "Zhou Hongqi, Xiao Ya is not your daughter, but she is my daughter too. Let’s just muddle through as a family, nobody else knows."

Zhou Hongqi replied, "Who says nobody knows? If not for Qiaoqiao reminding me, I wouldn’t have known this. Had I known earlier, I would never have pushed Qiaoqiao away, and I wouldn’t have allowed Zhou Jingya into my house!"

With that said, Zhou Jingya’s heart felt cold.

"Zhou Hongqi, Xiao Ya is my daughter; how can you say such things about her?"

Zhou Hongqi scoffed, "She’s not even my daughter; I even doubt if my son is mine! I’m going to have Xiao Fei return now for a paternity test too!"

Yanfang cursed loudly, "Zhou Hongqi, how can you say such a thing! If Xiao Fei hears about this, how can he concentrate on his studies? Zhou Hongqi, Xiao Fei is indeed your son!"

But Zhou Hongqi couldn’t easily believe Yanfang anymore.

Tears filled Zhou Jingya’s eyes as she looked pitifully at Zhou Hongqi, "Dad..."

"Don’t call me dad; I have no daughter like you! Zhou Jingya, how could I have let you in! Driving away Nan Qiao is the biggest mistake I’ve made in my life!"

Furious, Zhou Hongqi left the house, not wanting to see Zhou Jingya anymore.

...

Zhou Jingya sat on the sofa sobbing pitifully.

Yanfang sat beside her and sighed, "Xiao Ya, don’t mind what Zhou Hongqi said. He wouldn’t foolishly talk about this matter publicly; he has his pride. You can rest assured, you’re still the young mistress of the Old Zhou’s family."

Zhou Jingya lifted her head, wiped her tears, and asked, "Mom, is my brother really Dad’s son?"

Yanfang’s eyes flickered.

Zhou Jingya: "!!"

Life had become unbearable!

...

When Nan Qiao got off work and came downstairs, she saw Zhou Hongqi standing by the door.

With a frown on her face, Zhou Hongqi approached with a smile, friendly and amiable.

Nan Qiao gave a slight smile, but her words were quite heart-piercing.

"So? Zhou Jingya is not your daughter?"

Zhou Hongqi: "..."

His heart was deeply hurt once again, frustrated.

"Qiaoqiao, I bought you chestnuts and your favorite mung bean cake. You like the mung bean paste from that place in Da Xue City, right? I bought some for you too."

Zhou Hongqi was sweating profusely, holding a lot of items.

Nan Qiao found it ironic. Knowing that Zhou Jingya wasn’t his biological daughter, he started to seek a divorce now?

Nan Qiao didn’t take the items, instead coldly refusing, "Take your things back; I won’t accept them. President Zhou, I’m not part of the Zhou family."

"Qiaoqiao, it was all my fault before, I was foolish, I was blind. Qiaoqiao, please forgive me this once."

Nan Qiao remained unmoved, and Zhou Hongqi felt even worse.

"Qiaoqiao, it’s all my fault. What does blood relation count for, compared to the many years we’ve spent as a family? Qiaoqiao, come back home with me."

Nan Qiao didn’t want to listen and turned to leave, but Zhou Hongqi followed her, continuously apologizing.

Zhou Hongqi’s words were something Nan Qiao didn’t want to hear anymore.

When Zhou Hongqi tried to stop Nan Qiao from leaving, she pulled out her phone and said coldly, "President Zhou, are you trying to make me call the police?"

Zhou Hongqi reached out, trying to hold Nan Qiao, hoping she wouldn’t leave.

Li Yehan rushed over, opened the car door swiftly, came up, grabbed Zhou Hongqi’s wrist, and twisted it forcefully.

Zhou Hongqi cried out in pain as Li Yehan pushed him away.

Zhou Hongqi staggered, nearly falling.

Li Yehan stood by Nan Qiao’s side, holding her hand, his eyes fiercely staring at him.

"Zhou Hongqi, it was the Zhou family who pushed Qiaoqiao away first, and now you have the audacity to bother her? Qiaoqiao has nothing to do with your family; keep bothering her, and you’ll face the consequences!"

Zhou Hongqi looked pitifully at Nan Qiao, "Qiaoqiao, you used to call me Dad; please give me one more chance."

Nan Qiao scoffed lightly, "I give you a chance, but who gives me a chance? President Zhou, do not do unto others what you don’t want others to do unto you."

Nan Qiao said to Li Yehan, "Let’s go."

Li Yehan followed Nan Qiao into the car, as Zhou Hongqi watched them leave with a heavy heart.

How could he have been so blind?

Zhou Hongqi was endlessly tormented, detesting Liu Yanfang and Zhou Jingya.

...

Nan Qiao and Li Yehan had dinner together.

Nan Qiao spoke about Zhou Hongqi’s intentions and also about Zhou Jingya’s origins.

Li Yehan was shocked; he hadn’t expected that Zhou Jingya wasn’t Zhou Hongqi’s daughter.

"Zhou Hongqi regretted it and, compared to Zhou Jingya who isn’t his biological daughter, he wanted to win me over to help invest in his company. Even though he didn’t straight out say it, I knew what he was planning."

Nan Qiao understood Zhou Hongqi’s nature too well.

"I’ll send someone to warn him not to bother you again," Li Yehan said.

"No need, I’ll talk to him. I heard Li Ye is back, he’s probably planning to take over the company, right?" Nan Qiao was a bit worried.

Li Yehan confidently said, "Qiaoqiao, don’t worry, Li Ye can’t take the company, and you will be the wife of Li Family’s chairman."

Nan Qiao frowned playfully at Li Yehan, "What are you talking about?"

"I’m stating the facts, so my Qiaoqiao doesn’t worry," Li Yehan said, placing a well-cut steak in front of Nan Qiao.

Nan Qiao took a bite of the steak, no longer engaging in the conversation.

She decided to find out more about Li Ye later, to see what he was capable of.

After finishing the steak, Nan Qiao ate a few bites of salad.

Looking up, she suddenly noticed Li Yehan staring at her.

Nan Qiao: "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Li Yehan’s corner of the mouth curved into a genuine smile as he joyfully said, "I’m happy. Qiaoqiao cares about me, how can I not be happy?"

Nan Qiao: "..."

Li Yehan seemed too easily satisfied.

Does he rarely hear praise from others?

Nan Qiao suddenly thought about Li Yehan’s difficult past.

Nan Qiao decided to praise Li Yehan more from now on.
