Chapter 220: Chapter 220 He’s Not Worthy of You

"Trivial tricks!"

Nan Qiao dodged swiftly, quickly turning around and delivering a kick to the hand of the homeless man.

Clang, the knife in the homeless man’s hand dropped to the ground, and Nan Qiao followed with a kick to his knee, bringing him down with a thud.

Nan Qiao looked on indifferently at the homeless man as passersby, some of whom had already called the police.

A nearby officer rushed over and Nan Qiao recounted the incident.

With the testimony of bystanders, the police understood the whole story.

Nan Qiao said, "I have never seen this homeless man before; someone else is trying to kill me."

The officer responded, "Ma’am, we will take him in for questioning and ensure justice is done for you."

"Thank you, I appreciate the effort."

With the homeless man taken away by the police, Nan Qiao scanned the gathering crowd and smirked coldly.

The news of the incident quickly reached Deng Bingying, who anxiously called Nan Qiao.

"Mr. Qiao, are you all right? Why did a homeless man attack you? It must be that bastard Lu Zhengyang’s doing!"

Nan Qiao laughed, "How can you be sure it’s Lu Zhengyang?"

"Who else could it be? You just exposed his hypocrisy, and now this happens. If it’s not him, then who?"

Nan Qiao hadn’t expected Deng Bingying to suspect Lu Zhengyang.

Not only Deng Bingying, but Nan Qiao also suspected Lu Zhengyang!

It was too coincidental!

Lu Zhengyang, out of his wits, couldn’t seem to come up with a better plan.

Deng Bingying apologized to Nan Qiao, "Mr. Qiao, I’m sorry, this is all my fault for attracting such a rotten peach blossom. I won’t make the same mistake again! With no man in my heart, drawing my sword comes naturally."

Deng Bingying had made up her mind not to pursue men anymore; she just wanted to focus on her career.

"Bingying, I’m relieved you’re fine. Lu Zhengyang isn’t worth your attention; he doesn’t deserve you."

"Mr. Qiao, thanks for your comfort. I’m fine, he’s just a man, and I don’t care."

After hanging up, Deng Bingying called Lu Zhengyang.

Lu Zhengyang thought Deng Bingying was calling to make amends, possibly to continue their relationship.

Lu Zhengyang waited silently for Deng Bingying to beg him, but instead...

Deng Bingying lashed out at him furiously.

"Lu Zhengyang, you dared to arrange for someone to assassinate Mr. Qiao. Were you brainless at birth, left inside your mother’s womb? You’re as disgusting as your uncle’s toenail, do you think I’d fancy you? I was blind to fall for a waste like you!"

Lu Zhengyang: ??

"Deng Bingying, you madwoman!"

"If I’m a madwoman, what are you? Irrecyclable trash?"

Lu Zhengyang, furious, hung up on Deng Bingying and tried to call back, only to find he’d been blocked.

Angry and fuming, Lu Zhengyang parked his car in the basement, preparing to return to the company.

Just as he got out, a person in black, wielding a sharp dagger, slashed Lu Zhengyang’s right arm.

"Ah!"

Lu Zhengyang screamed in agony as the dagger struck his left arm next, and a kick to his knee forced him to kneel.

Kneeling with both legs on the ground, he crashed down, his kneecaps seeming to shatter instantly.

Lu Zhengyang gnashed his teeth in pain, his arms too hurt to move, bleeding profusely.

Just as Lu Zhengyang tried to make out his assailant, he looked up and the person was gone.

Overcome with shock and searing pain, he fainted.

...

When Lu Zhengyang regained consciousness, he was in a hospital, with Ren Yongshi looking at him with concern.

"Zhengyang, what happened? Who did you offend to get slashed like this? Tell me, was it Lu Shen?"

Ren Yongshi was even somewhat excited; if this was Lu Shen’s doing, she could use it to get back at him and his mother Miao Xiuling!

Lu Zhengyang watched Ren Yongshi’s expression, at a loss for words.

"Zhengyang, why aren’t you speaking?" Ren Yongshi pressed.

Lu Zhengyang, pale-faced and with a weakened voice, said, "Mom, do you actually care about me or just want to use this incident against Lu Shen?"

Ren Yongshi frowned, "Wouldn’t it be better if this could hurt Lu Chen? If something happens to Lu Chen, the beneficiary is you, isn’t it?"

Lu Zhengyang: "My injury has nothing to do with Lu Chen, I suspect it’s Nan Qiao or Deng Bingying’s doing."

"You were getting along with Deng Bingying, weren’t you? Why would she harm you?"

Lu Zhengyang relayed the events to Ren Yongshi, who felt numb after hearing it.

"What do you mean? Is Nan Qiao still Deng Bingying’s boss? That’s impossible! Nan Qiao runs a small company," Ren Yongshi asked incredulously.

Lu Zhengyang replied weakly, "When I went to see Deng Bingying, Nan Qiao was sitting in her place. When Deng Bingying entered, she addressed Nan Qiao as Mr. Qiao. Her attitude towards Nan Qiao was very respectful, like a subordinate seeing her master. From what I know, Deng Bingying has neither father nor mother, and she’s the public face as the owner of Huai Xi. As far as I know, Deng Bingying’s design abilities are nothing extraordinary."

Ren Yongshi frowned, surprised by Nan Qiao’s excellence.

"I’ve always said Nan Qiao is better than Zhou Jingya. You’re only seeing the surface, starving, ready to eat anything. Nan Qiao and Zhou Jingya are adversaries, and knowing your relationship with Zhou Jingya, Nan Qiao will never agree to be with you. Lu Zhengyang, look at the mess you’ve made!"

Lu Zhengyang, severely weakened, didn’t want to talk to Ren Yongshi.

No matter what was said, it was always his fault, and Ren Yongshi was used to blaming everything on him, and so was Lu Zhengyang.

Ren Yongshi stood up, pacing back and forth in the hospital room.

"We must find a way to settle this matter. Lu Zhengyang, how petty of you, using a homeless man to kill Nan Qiao. If it’s traced back, you’re in for a lawsuit!"

Ren Yongshi slammed the door and left, trying to figure out how to resolve the issue.

...

When Nan Qiao heard about Lu Zhengyang’s hospitalization, she wasn’t much surprised.

Hou Ze angrily said, "Teaching him a lesson was letting him off easy!"

Nan Qiao laughed, "Houzi, you’ve been quite impulsive lately."

"Boss, if I were truly impulsive, I’d have sent Lu Zhengyang to the king of hell by now. That bastard daring to send a homeless man to kill you, he’s really asking for it! It’s just that the homeless man didn’t spill anything useful; it lets Lu Zhengyang off the hook."

Nan Qiao: "Without leaving evidence, Lu Zhengyang can’t be traced. Keep an eye on those in contact with Deng Bingying for me; I’m worried she might be deceived."

If Deng Bingying were deceived, the company could face problems.

"Sure, I’ll get someone on it right away."

Hou Ze added, "Boss, you’re really something. That Lu Zhengyang, blessed with good fortune, playing two sides. After this incident, he might suspect your identity, so be careful. Uncle Qin and Uncle Dao have been sent elsewhere by you, maybe it’s time to bring them back to protect you."

Nan Qiao: "No need, I will handle things as they come. Uncle Qin and Uncle Dao are training newcomers; they’ll be back after some time. I’m not in a rush."

Having said this, Nan Qiao left Hou Ze with no room for argument; he could only admonish her to be careful.
