Chapter 204: The Emperor Appears, Desperation for All; Fantasy Authority Unlocked, I’m Invincible, Do as You Please (2)
Meanwhile, the Goblin Emperor continued its self-aggrandizing speech. Unbeknownst to it, Rong had silently cloaked herself in the shadows, inching closer.
"There’s no need to hide, my sneaky friend in the dark."
The Goblin Emperor’s gaze swept across the group, growing even more confident.
Rong was moments away from losing her concealment but still hadn’t found an opening to strike. The Emperor had anticipated her capabilities from the start.
Sistine, her nerves taut, lost patience when the Goblin Emperor turned toward Rong. She launched a full-force assault!
Her white figure streaked forward like a moonlit wisp, her sword cutting through the air with an energy wave so potent it seemed to ripple through the space around her.
It was 'Moon Waltz', a secret technique of the Queen of the Moon.
Silver energy surged as her golden hair danced wildly. Sistine’s blade, brimming with power, slashed toward the Goblin Emperor.
The other girls watched the dazzling Sistine in mid-air, their eyes lighting up with hope.
Surely, the Saintess of the Sword would succeed, right?
However, hordes of goblins charged forth, forming a wall of bodies to block the energy wave.
Even with Sistine's fifth-tier strength, the overwhelming numbers were too much. She couldn’t break through!
Countless goblins fell to her sword, only to be replaced by even more flooding in.
"Magic barrage!"
The Goblin Emperor's voice echoed from behind the goblin ranks.
At its command, goblins wielding frost blades and fiery winds unleashed their magic, scattering Shia's group.
Caught off guard, the tightly knit team was forced apart.
Frost-blue goblins and flame-red goblins stood at a distance, launching relentless magic attacks.
These were the Emperor’s trump cards.
Green-skinned goblins with stone axes charged in alongside archers firing arrows from the shadows, creating chaos.
In mere moments, the balance of power had completely shifted.
Sistine noticed the team’s difficulties and instinctively tried to retreat and protect them. But goblins surged forward, blocking her path and dragging her into a drawn-out fight.
The others were split into smaller groups, surrounded by goblins and forced into fierce battles.
Though their enemies wielded crude weapons, the sheer number of goblins made reuniting nearly impossible. The goblins were executing a divide-and-conquer strategy to perfection.
Separated, the girls faced attacks from all directions, unable to coordinate or regroup.
Shia’s gaze fell on the heavily guarded Goblin Emperor. Even goblins could employ such intricate tactics!
The Emperor’s scepter-hand bore a bracelet that emitted a spreading mist, gradually blanketing the area.
The mist clouded the girls’ rationality, increasing their agitation. Their attacks grew frantic and uncoordinated.
If this dragged on, defeat was inevitable.
Sistine, still battling, felt the mist's influence and the mounting desperation of the situation.
She realized the trial had turned into a deathtrap.
Her eyes flashed with determination.
Summoning all her power, she channeled it into her sword. Energy surged around her, radiating a soft, moonlit glow. Sistine transformed into a beacon of light.
Moonlit Guardian!
Her sword shone brightly, spinning in a sweeping arc. A radiant barrier of energy enveloped her allies, blocking the mist from spreading further.
Her strength spent, Sistine staggered and fell back a few steps, her face pale.
Though she had done her utmost to protect everyone, the battle was far from over.
Goblins continued to swarm relentlessly, threatening to breach the barrier.
Shia, Rong, and Violet were cornered together, surrounded by an endless tide of grotesque goblins.
In the face of this deadly crisis, even Violet—normally so haughty—revealed a rare moment of vulnerability.
With a carefree smile, she raised her voice.
"Shia, if we survive this, I might just give you a chance to court me!"
Despite the dire situation, Shia couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
"We’re not dead yet. Stop dreaming!"
Violet pouted, displeased.
"Couldn’t you at least play along for once? Let me lose gracefully, damn it."
"Don’t jinx it," Rong chimed in.
The trio stood back-to-back, defending each other. Rong cut down an advancing goblin and glanced toward Violet.
"I believe in him. Master will find a way."
Her gaze, filled with unwavering trust, annoyed Violet.
"Hey, don’t be so lovesick! Look at the mess we’re in—how could he possibly turn this around?"
Rong was unbothered by Violet’s retort.
"That’s the difference between you and me."
Violet’s jaw tightened.
"I believe in Master no matter the situation. But you? You’re too proud to admit how you really feel."
As Rong's sharp gaze locked onto Violet, her words cut through the tension like a blade.
"And that’s why the Master chose me. You? Always destined to fail."
Violet, silenced by Rong’s piercing look, found herself stunned into submission.
Her mind replayed the events of the previous night—those intimate, unbearable moments that had left her flustered. The vivid memories of conversations she had overheard, the ones that had filled her with a sense of defeat, played back cruelly. It had been nothing short of an overdose of dog food, forcibly stuffed down her throat.
