Chapter 111: No Clue

After the awkward encounter with Jiao Liangchen, Sian hastily apologized, took the oversized bear prop, and exited to continue their romantic skit—albeit before a different audience.

It was evident that a particular individual was less than thrilled to be subjected to such public displays of affection.

Or in another language:

Clearly, someone was not pleased to be force-fed that much dog food.

As for the competition and its winner, the outcome was clear to everyone.

At that moment, still reeling from the shock of Sian’s performance on stage, his sorrowful yet breathtaking song, everything had already been decided.

Song Zijian went on to perform after Sian, regardless of the storm of emotions churning within him.

At the end, Sian clinched the win without suspense.

In a twist of irony, both Jin Ruohan and Song Zijian vehemently challenged the results of the competition, claiming that Sian had collapsed on stage, unable to finish his performance. They argued that such an incident called into question his suitability for the title of "singer," let alone the honor of being the "winner." Their passionate assertions highlighted not only the drama of the moment but also the weight of competition and the standards they believed should define true artistry.

However, the event’s most startling twist occurred when the renowned musical genius, Liang Zixuan, publicly defended Sian.

He openly chastised the two, exposing their envy and malevolence during a live broadcast.

Liang Zixuan even proclaimed that Sian’s voice and talent were unparalleled, even surpassing his own, rendering comparisons to those "flies" who claimed superiority over Sian laughable.

Song Zijian nearly shattered his charming and virtuous image under the weight of the insult, but managed to restrain his anger. He proceeded to challenge the competition’s results, invoking its rules in an attempt to disqualify Sian entirely.

Unfortunately for him, a review of Sian’s performance video revealed that, even as he collapsed, he continued singing, completing the entire song just in time before losing consciousness and being carried offstage.

Realizing he couldn’t refute Sian’s victory, Song Zijian swiftly altered his strategy. Without a hint of shame, he praised the program’s fairness and excellence, then inquired about the second-place winner with a feigned sense of integrity.

Though he might be a duplicitous "black lotus," Song Zijian’s talent in singing—and even more so in acting—was undeniable. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to deceive millions of fans with his angelic facade.

Thus, Song Zijian secured second place, advancing to the second round of the Top Star competition.

Following the brief onstage drama that day, Sian’s fame soared once more, especially after Liang Zixuan publicly acknowledged and admired his talent.

Liang Zixuan, who rarely offered praise to any singer or musician, made an exception for Sian.

Sian’s performance video and the surrounding drama dominated the hot news section for an entire week.

As usual, Sian remained oblivious to the events that transpired after he fainted, not that he cared to know.

With eight full days remaining until the end of the competition’s first round, only twenty contestants would advance to the next stage.

The rest would eventually return home empty-handed.

Surprisingly, the eight days passed swiftly and without incident, but this wasn’t necessarily good news for Sian and his team.

Even with assistance from He Jinyun and intelligence from Jiao Liangchen—and even the military’s involvement after Lan Qisheng reached out to his grandfather and his connections—there was still no news of the missing minister, the organization responsible for his abduction, or their motives.

"Today is our last day on this island. After the farewell party planned for the evening, we’ll be moving to the next location for the second round. And still... no news," Sian said, his expression stoic.

In the room sat Lan Qisheng and Jiao Liangchen, both wearing the same grave expression as Sian.

After He Jinyun confirmed that the kidnappers of the prime minister and his family were still on the island and nearby, they thought it would be easy to flush them out. But after all these days, they were on the verge of giving up.

"Did that man call? Any news from his side?" Jiao Liangchen asked in a heavy tone.

Sian knew exactly who he meant.

Ever since meeting He Jinyun, both he and Lan Qisheng referred to the man as "that man."

It was clear they didn’t like him.

Well, to be fair, no one from intelligence or the military would like a wanted criminal.

The fact that they hadn’t arrested and jailed him already was a miracle in itself.

"He called last night, but nothing new. Every time his men get a lead, the evidence is destroyed almost immediately."

The two men fully understood the implications of "cutting off the leads and destroying the evidence."

It was clear that the organization treated people’s lives like disposable commodities.

If you’re useful, you’re welcome.

But the moment you become a burden, you’re eliminated without hesitation.

"Damn it." Lan Qisheng stood up and paced the room in frustration. "At this rate, we’ll never catch those bastards."

"It’s not that simple yet."

"What do you mean? Did that man say something else?"

"Well, he said there’s been a lot of suspicious activity in the criminal world recently. Some big names are starting to move. And there’s plenty of evidence pointing to something major happening soon." Sian paused, then added with a harsh and serious tone: "You two should contact some people and arrange patrols at the party. I have a feeling something’s going to happen tonight."

Seeing Sian wasn’t joking—and knowing he possessed supernatural powers—the two men sprang into action.

They treated Sian’s words like a prophecy, immediately contacting their networks and arranging for a large number of undercover support forces at the party, which would be broadcast live.

If Sian ever found out, they thought he had some kind of future-seeing power...

Who knows? He might crack their heads open with a military knife just to check if their brains were made of anything useful.

"I hope nothing happens," Sian muttered, concern written all over his face.

But unfortunately...
