Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1275
Chapter 1275: Chapter 1275
Jane McCain really wanted to give herself a thumbs-up.
Allen Rivera’s busy work schedule was an indisputable fact.
But if every time they encountered such a situation, they postponed their dates, they might not see each other more than a few times a month.
The little sparks of love hadn’t even had a chance to ignite the whole field before they extinguished due to lack of fuel—what a pity.
Delivering lunch was a good idea.
Not only could it increase their meeting opportunities and promote affection, but most importantly, the more she delivered lunch, the more people at the Prosecutor’s Office would know that Allen had a girlfriend. This way, she could nip any potential rivals in the bud.
The next day, Jane McCain made plans with Zara Jameson, and the two women headed straight to the supermarket—
to buy groceries.
Jane placed fresh cherry tomatoes, cauliflower, and crab mushrooms into the shopping cart while saying to Zara Jameson beside her, "I specifically asked him, and he has no food restrictions. As long as it’s within the normal range of taste, he can accept it."
Zara Jameson asked laughingly, "What do you mean by within the normal range of taste?"
"I mean sour things can’t be too sour, and spicy things can’t be too spicy," she answered seriously. "Everything should be in moderation; if the taste buds are overly stimulated, it will be hard to appreciate the subtle flavors in food later."
Jane turned her head, smiling sweetly, "Isn’t it really wise and attractive?"
"No, it just feels very health-conscious," Zara Jameson replied.
Jane pouted and hummed, heading to the seafood section to buy shrimp.
Zara Jameson followed her, saying slowly, "This is just the beginning, and you’re already this into it, even taking care of his meals. Do you plan to do his cleaning too in the future?"
Jane responded nonchalantly, "Men and women, it all starts with food. Didn’t Ryan Wesley always help you get food from the cafeteria when he was pursuing you?"
As she spoke, she extended her delicate hand, pinky raised, to pick out a shrimp of uniform size from the bed of crushed ice.
The shrimp seller said, "Miss, you can’t choose the shrimp, they are all the same. How many do you want? I’ll weigh them for you."
Jane said, "Uncle, please help me. It’s my first time cooking for my boyfriend. Whether we can become a real couple depends on these shrimps. Consider it a good deed, will you?"
The shrimp seller sighed repeatedly, "Go ahead and choose, choose."
"Thank you, uncle!"
Zara Jameson couldn’t help but ask, "Do you know how to cook shrimp?"
...
In the evening, Jane McCain dressed up beautifully to meet Allen Rivera.
There were few women in the Prosecutor’s Office, even fewer who were young and beautiful, and those who were young, beautiful, and fashionable were even rarer.
Jane McCain arrived early today, and many people had not finished work yet. As soon as she showed up, she attracted numerous gazes.
Being someone who frequently got approached by strangers outside, Jane was immune to such stares. She stood outside the gate of the Prosecutor’s Office, occasionally using her hand to cover the lunch box, worried that the food would get cold.
Although the lunch box was insulated, she had never delivered food to anyone before, so she had no concept of the thermal performance of such containers.
She saw Allen Rivera approaching from a distance.
The security guard recognized Allen Rivera, so he allowed Jane in even before Allen got close. Jane was thrilled and ran over joyfully with the lunch box.
After a few steps, she felt it didn’t look good.
She slowed down to maintain her composure and handed over the lunch box to Allen gracefully.
Allen took it, held her hand, and asked, "Have you had dinner?"
"Yes, I have," Jane said with a slightly flattering tone, "I was afraid you would forget to eat because you were busy, so I came quickly."
Allen smiled, holding up her hand to look at it—her well-kept fingers were snowy white and delicate, with gradient cherry blossom pink hand-painted nails adorned with sparkling rhinestones. They looked exquisite and elegant, not like hands that could cook.
"Did you cook this yourself?" Allen asked.
Jane’s eyes flickered with spring-like radiance, "I bought the groceries myself, and they are all the freshest."
Allen couldn’t help but laugh.
