Chapter 1249: Chapter 1249

Purple Summers said coldly, "I don’t think a man threatening a woman with murder is irrelevant information."

"He has threatened hundreds of women," Graham Burke replied expressionlessly, "It’s just a kind of perverted game."

"But now Sophia Wilson is dead, right after being threatened by him!"

"Yes, she died in your client’s car trunk, so we arrested your client and sentenced him to death!" Graham Burke looked deeply at Purple Summers, "Maybe releasing the criminal would make you feel accomplished, but not on my watch."

Purple Summers cast him a cold glance but did not respond. She looked towards the judge and stated word by word, "Your Honor, I believe there are significant procedural flaws in the prosecution’s handling of this case. Considering that the death penalty is the most severe charge, I hope my client can receive a fair, open, and just trial."

The judge’s gaze fell on both of them.

"Court session next Tuesday."

...

Leaving the courthouse, Marcel Jefferson joined Purple Summers in the car.

"What’s with that prosecutor just now? He was exploding like he has a personal vendetta against us," Marcel Jefferson couldn’t help but complain.

As Purple Summers’ assistant, Marcel Jefferson had come along to attend the pre-trial motion.

"Ignore him," Purple Summers said, "How’s the investigation on Abigail Thompson going?"

Marcel Jefferson shook his head and replied with difficulty, "Abigail Thompson has always been a good girl since childhood. Forget about affairs, she almost has zero experience in relationships."

Purple Summers sighed silently, "Hurry up, we need to come up with a concrete plan before the court session next Tuesday."

Defense in court is not just blathering; it requires a concrete plan.

If it’s a not-guilty defense, we need to prove the defendant was not at the crime scene. Without an alibi, we need to emphasize other doubts in the case to create reasonable doubt in the jury’s mind.

If it’s a guilty defense, then we need to find ways to prove factors like accidents or negligence, to help the defendant reduce the Criminal Law penalties.

But right now, Purple Summers is facing a mess.

She cannot prove Hans Geoffrey was not at the scene, and the doubts raised lack strength against the absolute evidence. Now, she is pinning her hopes on Abigail Thompson, hoping to uncover valuable clues from this woman.

In a few days, time flew by, Purple Summers’ people almost investigated every possible direction but still found nothing.

On Monday evening, everyone gathered in the living room.

Some were flipping through old files to find new discoveries.

Some were tapping away at their computers, searching for elusive clues.

The photos of everyone related to the case—Hans Geoffrey, Sophia Wilson, Abigail Thompson, Wind Pavilion Garden security guard, the police officer in charge, the lecherous men in the chat group, and even the hypothetical affair partner of Abigail Thompson—were displayed on the projection screen.

"I think the security guard is very suspicious. If I were the guard and saw blood dripping from a property owner’s car trunk, I’d think there’s a dead dog inside, who would think of a corpse?"

Marcel Jefferson continued, "Sophia Wilson came to the villa at 10 PM, the security guard got tempted, swapped shifts with a colleague, and then followed her."

"But how would the security guard know the door code of Hans Geoffrey’s house?" questioned the lawyer beside them, "Without the code, entering would trigger the alarm."

"Maybe he didn’t enter the house at all, he attacked Sophia Wilson outside the villa. Hans Geoffrey opened the door and found Sophia Wilson unconscious at his doorstep, panicked, and hid her in his car trunk. While moving the body, he accidentally touched the ring, leaving fingerprints."

"That doesn’t make sense either. If that were the case, there would be a lot of fresh blood outside the villa, and the murder weapon is Hans Geoffrey’s razor, which the security guard couldn’t have accessed."
