Chapter 151: Chapter 151 Diarrhea 2
"Wuuwuu, grandma, we will never eat ice pops again."
The two brothers were frightened by their sweat-drenched little sister and couldn’t help but cry.
The three older siblings had just seen their sister’s distress, and they were worried, heartbroken, and filled with remorse.
"Grandma, it’s all my fault; I shouldn’t have bought ice pops for my younger brother and sister."
Xiao Yu sniffled, "I shouldn’t have given them so much soda ice."
"Wuuwuu~ me too," said Xiao Xue, as she couldn’t help but wipe her tears.
Mrs. Lu patted the little heads of her grandchildren to comfort them, "It’s alright, everything will be fine once we get to the hospital, the doctor will take care of it."
"Okay, now all of you go to sleep, have a good night’s rest, and your sister will be back tomorrow."
"Mhm."
The five siblings finally lay down obediently, closed their eyes, and fell asleep.
After settling the little ones, Mrs. Lu and Lu Xiaogu were too worried to sleep, tossing and turning all night.
Susu was also worried about her little niece, and, hearing the restless movements of the two, couldn’t find a wink of sleep herself.
Hospital
The anxious parents rushed to the hospital, and after the doctor’s examination, it turned out that Lele had a weak stomach, and having both soda ice and ice pops today had caused her to catch a chill.
Fearing that the child would become dehydrated from diarrhea, the doctor prescribed anti-diarrheal medicine. After taking the medication, the little girl gradually reduced the frequency of her bathroom visits for diarrhea.
It wasn’t until the latter part of the night that the little girl finally fell into a fitful sleep.
Susu, seeing her daughter finally asleep, let out a sigh of relief, and turned to look at the man whose stubble was now showing on his face.
"You have to work tomorrow; you should get some sleep."
Lu Xiaoting shook his head, "I’m not tired, you get some rest, wifey. I’ll stay with our daughter."
"No, you sleep if I tell you to sleep."
Susu, irritated, pulled him over to the next empty bed and pushed him down, "Be obedient; I can catch up on sleep tomorrow just the same."
Seeing this, Lu Xiaoting had no choice but to close his eyes and drift off.
Susu looked at the man with the thick, long eyelashes, a slight smile forming on her lips, and she sat back down to watch over her daughter.
The next morning
The two siblings got up early, finished their morning routines and ate breakfast, then, with their backpacks on, eagerly stared outside the door.
Mrs. Lu looked at the time and hastened the children, "Tianyu, Xiao Yu, hurry off to school, so you don’t be late.
Your parents/uncle and aunt will probably be back soon. You can come home and see your sister at noon just the same."
"Oh, got it, grandma."
As the time to go to school approached and they still hadn’t seen their parents/uncle and aunt, the siblings had no choice but to sprint to school.
"Wuuwuu~ Grandma, I want to see daddy, mommy, and sister."
As soon as An’an woke up, he started crying, rubbing his eyes while pouting.
"An’an, be good, don’t cry. Daddy and mommy will bring your sister back soon."
Mrs. Lu said as she held her grandson to pee.
Lu Xiaogu held the sniffling Pingping as he peed?
The two brothers cried as they peed, their urine stream intermittently stopping and starting.
Mrs. Lu and Lu Xiaogu couldn’t help but laugh at the antics of the little ones.
The two brothers were listless all morning, not talking much, just staring outside the window with hopeful eyes.
Mrs. Lu and Lu Xiaogu handled them with extra care, fearing that they might make the little ones cry again.
It wasn’t long before noise could be heard from outside, and Mrs. Lu and Lu Xiaogu quickly came out with the little ones, only to see the old man carrying a net bag.
"Oh, so you’re all out here to welcome grandpa," Father Lu said, smiling from ear to ear.
Mrs. Lu gave her husband a cold look, "You’re always causing trouble every day."
"Heh, this wife of mine, did you swallow gunpowder this morning?"
Mrs. Lu snorted coldly, unwilling to deal with this old fool.
Pingping and Anan called out to their grandpa listlessly, then sat down on a small stool by the door, chubby hands propping up their chins, staring longingly at the doorway.
Father Lu, having heard the story from his sister, now knew what was going on, and his aged face instantly wrinkled into a frown as he sat holding a stool, waiting at the doorstep with his grandson.
After a short while, Lu Xiaoting stopped in front of the house on his bicycle.
"Mom and Dad."
The two boys dashed to the doorway, and before they could say more than a couple of words, their little lips puckered, and tears started to fall.
The couple looked utterly exhausted, with Lele listless in his father’s arms.
"Pingping and Anan, don’t cry, your sister is fine now."
Susu figured the kids must have been scared too yesterday, guiding one son with each hand into the house.
"Dad’s here."
"Mmm, how’s Lele doing?"
"He’s fine now, the doctor said children have weak stomachs, plus he ate too much cold food yesterday, and caught a cold at night.
The doctor prescribed some anti-diarrheal medication and he’s not having diarrhea anymore."
Father Lu nodded repeatedly, "That’s good, that’s very good."
Lu Xiaoting didn’t stay at home for long; after dropping off his wife and daughter, he quickly headed to work.
As soon as Susu got on the kang, the boys clung to her side.
"They surely didn’t sleep much last night either, go to sleep after you eat."
Mrs. Lu brought over the millet porridge she had cooked in the morning, along with two buns and a small dish of pickles.
"Thanks, Ma."
Susu, being straightforward, devoured two meat buns and the millet porridge, and then lay down to catch up on sleep.
Pingping, Anan, and Lele snuggled up next to their mother and soon fell asleep as well.
The three grandparents were careful not to make noise while chatting in the yard, so as not to disturb Susu and the grandchildren resting.
At noon, Mrs. Lu made some millet porridge especially for Xiao Sun, who still felt unwell and dared not eat anything else.
Susu was awakened by the smell of food; opening her eyes, Lele was asking to be held while Pingping and Anan sat quietly on either side of their mother.
"Is Grandpa here?"
"Yes, he’s back."
"Grandma, are mom and sis back too?"
"They are, everyone’s inside. Did you two run back here again? Look at all that sweat."
"Mom, is sis feeling any better?"
The siblings gazed anxiously at their sister.
"She’s fine now, don’t worry. Go wash your faces and hands, it’s just about time to eat."
"Okay."
Seeing that their sister was okay, the siblings were relieved and ran off to wash up.
"Sis, be good, okay? Promise not to eat ice anymore?" Xiao Xue touched her sister’s sweaty hair, tousling the little tufts.
Xiao Lele’s face scrunched up as she shook her head vigorously, "Won’t eat, Lele won’t eat it anymore."
Susu couldn’t help but laugh and cry; that’s just how kids are, refusing now when it hurts, but forgetful once they’re better.
The brothers, seeing their sister was fine, immediately found their appetites, hungrily munching on the meat their grandparents had pulled off the bones.
"Sis, eat the meaty."
The brothers were about to put chunks of meat into their sister’s bowl.
Susu quickly stopped her sons, "You eat it yourselves; your sister can’t have meat right now."
Xiao Lele also shook her head, her little face weary, "Lele doesn’t want the meaty."
...
Yangcheng
Jiang Nan bit her lower lip, lifting her eyes to her man.
"Huai Ze, I have something to tell you."
"Hmm? What’s up?"
