Chapter 1775: Chapter 1336: The Old Immortal’s Body Shines Brighter and Brighter

Everyone thought Ange was preparing to resurrect an Undead Army. They had witnessed how terrifyingly consuming time reversal could be. Ange’s previous actions had already pushed him to his limits, and now with over seven million corpses involved, they couldn’t imagine anyone capable of reversing time.

However, Ange went ahead and did it, and surprisingly, it worked? The consumption was even beyond their expectations.

"Why is it like this? Over seven million corpses, how can it work? Has Ange’s power suddenly increased?" Negris asked in shock.

"Could the master’s true form be closer, but that’s not likely; the master’s aura hasn’t changed much, except becoming more skilled than last time," Anthony said puzzlingly.

Last time, when reversing time, Ange was quite clumsy. He didn’t even manifest the Space-Time Compass beneath his feet and instead held everyone in his hands, operating with one hand.

The Space-Time Compass is the control center of the entire Space-Time Domain, manifested by the Primordial Dragon God. Once Ange mastered the domain’s manipulation techniques, he could manifest it and shrink it to carry with him; it is an enlargable or reducible manifestation object.

With it, everyone had a place to stand, and Ange could free his hands for operations and manifest different powers into statues, solidifying them on the chessboard for convenient use.

Speaking of which, its function is somewhat similar to a Simulated Magic Formation, and Ange was very accustomed to using it.

Accustomed to the Space-Time Chessboard, Ange could free his hands, but it couldn’t possibly change so much, enough to reverse the time of over seven million corpses.

Ursman pondered and said, "I have a guess; could it be that the changes to the deceased corpses aren’t significant, so the consumption for reversal isn’t large?"

"Is there such an explanation? Minimal changes lead to minimal consumption during reversal?" Negris hesitantly asked.

"Yes, last time the master reversed eight million years without much energy consumption until the Dragon God appeared. But the Dragon God is special; it’s also the owner of this domain, so it and the master actually pierced through the eight million years of temporal gap to see each other. Their encounter was very brief because they used time stop to converse; otherwise, they would have missed each other in an instant," Ursman said.

Anthony and Negris recalled the scene and couldn’t help but agree with Ursman. This meant that if the other party weren’t the Dragon God, even if Ange reversed eight million years, it wouldn’t be possible to converse with the other party.

The consumption of conversing with the Dragon God clearly wasn’t proportional to the consumption of the Little Dragon Man’s degradation, so the Dragon God was illusory, and the Little Dragon Man was real. The greater the material change, the greater the consumption needed.

"These Dragon Men, after death, their bodies have remained intact without decomposing, meaning they were just dehydrated. This state of minimal change is why the consumption is so little. Could it be the Dragon God arranged this cemetery for future time reversal?" speculated Anthony.

"So, Ange reverses to the moment of their death but doesn’t let them come back to life; otherwise, the changes from resurrection would be too vast, and the energy consumption would be unsustainable?" Negris also speculated.

Everyone exchanged glances and nodded in agreement, regretting that Ange had no time to engage with them, else Negris would surely seek confirmation.

Thus, while Ange kept reversing time, as the breath of death emerged, the Monarch would draw it down; accumulating a ground full of corpses, the breath of death grew increasingly dense.

The Monarch occasionally took a deep breath, consuming the carefully accumulated breath of death in one go. However, the corpses continued to brew breath of death, and with more and more corpses, the Monarch became somewhat overwhelmed.

After observing for a while, Negris said, "Old Immortal, don’t absorb so quickly; otherwise, no Dragon Souls can be nurtured."

"Oh, speaking of Dragon Souls, do you think these bodies, reversed to shortly after death, still have their souls?" Ursman suddenly pondered the question.

"They should still be there; otherwise, where does the breath of death come from?" hesitated Anthony.

Ursman said, "If their souls also reversed back, what about those that were devoured by King Fei Lie? If there weren’t King Fei Lie, all these Dragon Souls would have transformed into the Undead, and if their souls reversed back, would it mean there’d be an additional identical soul, or would the one that had transformed into an Undead dissipate?"

"No, it’s not like that." Being the spokesperson of the Pope of Light and the Undead God, Anthony, knowledgeable in this theory, promptly said, "Living beings don’t have souls, only consciousness; consciousness is attached to the body and not until they die does a Soul Fire emerge."

"If lucky, with a short time frame, its consciousness can attach to the Soul Fire, transforming into the Undead and retaining memories of its previous life."

"If unlucky, and its consciousness fails to attach to the soul, this Soul Fire will be blank, creating a primitive Undead rather than the rebirth of a living being."

Anthony himself once was a reborn UnUndead, but Ange and the Monarch were primal Undeads, bearing no memories of a past life, with the Undead being their original state.

Ursman nodded in sudden comprehension, "So, the soul is cultivated by these bodies, but the consciousness and memories within are unique to the body in life. Reversing to this phase doesn’t result in an extra Dragon-Man with identical memories?"

Anthony nodded.

Ursman clapped his hands, "I understand. The master is essentially restoring dehydrated quick-growing vegetables back to fresh ones, without altering anything, without adding anything, which is why consumption is low."

Anthony clapped his hands, Negris clapped his claw, and everyone reached a consensus.

Having reached an understanding, no more words were spoken, and the group exchanged silent glances, waiting... waiting... waiting...

It wasn’t known how much time had passed, but as the floating corpses became fewer and fewer, Ange found time reversal becoming easier.

On the contrary, the corpses on the ground piled up more and more, leaving no room to step, but since Negris had earlier said, ’Don’t absorb too quickly,’ the Monarch had not moved, allowing the dense breath of death to nurture abundant Dragon Souls.

As soon as the Dragon Soul was born, it merged into the body of a Dragon-Man, immediately causing it to tremble as if to rise, yet a scythe swiftly swiped through, directly extracting the Dragon Soul without damaging the body.

The Monarch inhaled forcefully, clearing the breath of death from the scythe and its surroundings in one go.

Repeating this cycle countless times, Negris suddenly noticed a glowing issue: "Huh, is it me, or is the Old Immortal getting brighter?"
