Chapter 1620: Chapter 1181: Can’t Get Through the Days?
If the Star Progeny Master were a farmer, the current situation would be akin to him diligently cultivating some crops, only to find that when it’s time to harvest, the land has been seized by others and the crops have been safeguarded by them.
So, he set a fire outside the farm, intending to burn the crops down, but discovered that the fire had been repurposed by others to construct a fire wall, extinguishing his flames.
The Star Progeny Master’s heart was filled with the anger and humiliation of having his harvest snatched away by dogs, and even upon returning home, he was unable to shake off the bitterness.
He forcefully slashed open the Void before him, and with the opening of a massive rift, an intense red light seeped through. Gazing into the fissure, the entire field of vision was filled by an immense fireball, which turned out to be the sphere-like space used to cultivate Mourning Undead Soldiers.
The Star Progeny Master referred to this place as the Origin World, and the massive fireball was the very starting point of everything—the Origin Divine Star.
The Origin World was rarely opened; typically, only the Great Speaker and South Coronet would frequently enter or exit the Origin World. The Star Progeny Master seldom came here, primarily because he had his own Dimensional Worlds.
Secondly, he avoided coming here because he did not wish to face the Origin Divine Star. Although he had already imprisoned the consciousness of the Origin Divine Light, its oppressive presence remained.
This oppression was specifically targeted at him. It had been unleashed the moment he imprisoned the consciousness of the Origin Divine Star. Staying in its vicinity made him uncomfortable, so he made every effort to limit such visits.
However, today he had no choice but to return to this disquieting place. When all other methods were exhausted, the Origin Divine Star became his final resort.
Upon South Coronet’s entry into the Origin World, certain pheromones were introduced as well. Dormant spores that had long been lurking in the area were instantly awakened, growing silently.
The last time South Coronet escaped, Ange had already scattered some spores onto him. However, since then, the Origin World had remained sealed, preventing the Little Sapling’s signals from reaching the spores.
This time, the Star Progeny Master had ventured into the Sea of Omniscience, not only witnessing the dissipation of the Light Disaster but also absorbing some pheromones. Upon returning to the Leo Royal Court, he had briefly interacted with South Coronet, and the pheromones stuck to South Coronet again.
He discarded the human body, retracted his projection, and summoned South Coronet back once more. After several twists and turns, the pheromones finally reached this location.
All of this transpired silently, with the Star Progeny Master completely unaware. Who would take notice of the pheromones lingering on their body?
Anywhere living things exist, such substances drift around like mist. Who would notice themselves picking up a bit of mist?
Only the Star Progeny Master could perceive them, as ordinary individuals couldn’t detect pheromones, much less give them a second thought. Furthermore, after being transferred several times, the traces left on South Coronet were minimal and barely noticeable.
Yet the quantity of pheromones was irrelevant; their significance lay in the information they carried. When the spores blossomed, they conveyed messages to insects: "Come collect..."
Stepping into the Origin World, the fireball’s brilliance illuminated his form, instantly instilling a sense of oppression. Despite the passage of so many years, the residual pressure from the Divine Star still weighed heavily upon him.
Avoiding the massive fireball at the center, the Star Progeny Master moved toward the outskirts, where his gaze was met by desolation.
"It seems more barren than before. What’s going on?" the Star Progeny Master asked.
South Coronet replied, "The soil’s fertility has diminished. The Great Speaker hasn’t delivered fertilizers in a long time."
"How long has it been? He’s only been gone for less than a year, and the fertility is already dropping?" the Star Progeny Master questioned.
"No, no. The Great Speaker has been away for one year, but the last fertilizer delivery was over a hundred years ago. The Great Speaker’s current task involves transporting various supplies, including fertilizers," South Coronet hurriedly explained.
"Over a hundred years ago? Didn’t he claim that he was going to establish a self-sustaining world? He said we could harness the power of the Divine Star to build that world. Has it failed so quickly?" The Star Progeny Master suddenly recalled something.
South Coronet nodded, "It failed. The Great Speaker explained the reason—there are too few species here, and the natural cycle is too fragile. The extinction of even one species could collapse the entire cycle. The only creatures that have endured are the Undead; they seem to be the only ones that are self-sustaining."
The entire Origin World was essentially a sphere encapsulating the Origin Divine Star. The sphere’s inner wall formed the land, which included plains, mountains, seas, as well as flora and fauna.
Yet over tens of thousands of years, only the Undead have persisted. All other creatures seemed to have cycled through countless generations, including intelligent beings.
Every century or two, the Great Speaker would make trips back and forth to the Divine Light Alliance, primarily to gather various "materials."
Regrettably, his skills fell short. No matter how many materials he collected, the Great Speaker never managed to stabilize this world. Periodically, there would be large-scale extinctions of species. If a key species went extinct, urgent replacements had to be made; otherwise, the entire world would collapse.
Failing at "self-sustenance" meant that "growth" was out of the question. It still fell several tiers below Ange’s Dimensional World.
Recently, there’s been a shortage of fertilizer. The grass on the plains barely grows, causing herbivorous animals to starve and accelerating the collapse of the natural cycle.
Therefore, the Great Speaker’s primary mission during this journey was fertilizer collection. But fertilizer isn’t a product of alchemical synthesis; it can’t simply be conjured with the Gold-touch Stick. Animal and human waste must be gathered across various planes; phosphate rock and potassium nitrate deposits must be mined. Meanwhile, shortages have to be avoided since the Divine Light Alliance also requires them.
Annual production had always been fixed, but the Great Speaker’s sudden "large order" had stretched existing supplies thin.
Before the process was completed, the Great Speaker had already rebelled.
It had been decades since the Star Progeny Master last entered the Origin World. The desolation he now witnessed was the accumulation of years, which made it even more pronounced. Yet for those who left a year ago, the situation hadn’t changed much.
The only creatures still self-sustaining were the Undead. Over tens of thousands of years, all incoming creatures eventually died, merging into the breath of death.
After hearing the explanation, the Star Progeny Master nodded. The original purpose of developing this location had been to cultivate Mourning Undead Soldiers. As long as the Undead remained self-sustaining, everything else was irrelevant.
Growing plants and raising living beings had been the Great Speaker’s idea. Now that he had rebelled, no one would bother with such frivolities. He coldly declared, "Just kill them all."
"Huh?" South Coronet stared at the Star Progeny Master in shock.
"Kill all living beings, collect their souls, and throw them into that outer Divine Star to further strengthen the Light Disaster. How many Bodies of Mourning remain? Shove them into the Mourning Malevolent Spirits," the Star Progeny Master ordered. His gaze shifted momentarily to the fireball at the center of the space before grimly gritting his teeth and flying toward it.
South Coronet stood stunned and watched the Star Progeny Master’s retreating figure, feeling completely at a loss. His command had come as a thunderbolt—kill all living beings?
This place contained over a billion living creatures, with at least 80 or 90 million humans alone. Was he truly going to slaughter them all? Outside, he forbade killing the Minotaurs, yet here he planned to wipe out every living being in one fell swoop?
And handing over the Bodies of Mourning to the Mourning Malevolent Spirits? That seemed like a colossal waste. How were they supposed to endure this?
