Chapter 1594: Chapter 1155: I’ll Know Once I Take a Bite
The Star Progeny Master looked at the scene, the same question flashing repeatedly in his mind: "What on earth are these things?"
Under the Star Descendant, apart from North Corona and South Coronet, there wasn’t a third Celestial Descendant Clan. A body without consciousness was just a mere husk, so the Star Progeny Master would often transfer his consciousness into this husk, walking among the world as one of the Celestial Descendant Clan.
Due to certain special reasons, his true form couldn’t easily leave the Star Realm. For tasks that must be carried out outside the Star Realm, apart from delegating them to South Coronet, he could only personally handle them himself.
Because of the unique nature of the Star God, his method differed from mere projection; it was a complete transfer of consciousness, becoming an entirely independent entity.
This method had its pros and cons—the advantage was that he could fully unleash the power of the Star God’s Body. However, if the transfer couldn’t be completed in time, both his body and consciousness could potentially be annihilated.
The disappearance of North Corona was most likely due to his consciousness being eradicated or trapped in a place capable of confining consciousness.
The Star Progeny Master didn’t believe there was anything capable of eradicating his consciousness, nor did he believe a place existed that could imprison it. He especially didn’t believe there was a situation where he wouldn’t escape in time, so naturally, he didn’t dwell on such highly improbable outcomes.
He simply hadn’t expected to encounter these individuals again so soon. South Coronet’s "Southern Crown Strike"—a technique uniquely self-created by South Coronet—had just caused the Star Progeny Master to break out in cold sweat. It was an attack capable of annihilating both his consciousness and body simultaneously.
Unexpectedly, after forcing him out, the opponent withdrew their attack, probably due to the immense consumption of power.
The principle behind South Coronet’s move wasn’t complicated, but why hadn’t others created something similar? Because it consumed too much.
This type of technique, concentrating power for a single devastating shot, had both advantages and drawbacks. While immensely powerful, it could consume all your strength in one go, leaving no room for continued battle. Facing hundreds of Fierce Spirits like these, using such a move again wouldn’t be wise.
Thinking he had deduced correctly, the Star Progeny Master quickly saw Ange ignite the leading Fierce Spirit, burning it into smoke-like ashes. Once again, the question flashed through his mind: "What on earth are these things?"
"Certainly not human. Let me out, just one bite and I’ll know." In the Star Progeny Master’s hand, a ball of smoke struggled fiercely, occasionally bulging into a grimacing face, glaring venomously into the distance.
Clearly, this ball of smoke shared a deeply-rooted connection with the Star Progeny Master, evident from how it understood his thoughts.
The Star Progeny Master said, "No need, thank you."
"I want one bite; no need to thank me. Let me out," the grimacing face sneered defiantly.
"No. Shut up," the Star Progeny Master retorted firmly, squeezing harder. The grimacing face’s eyes nearly bulged out, wearing an expression that looked constipated but did indeed stop talking.
Soon, the Star Progeny Master saw a Little Angel rise up from the ashes, and the question once again surfaced in his mind: "What on earth are these things?"
At his level, he no longer judged beings by their physical forms, as on his tier, changing bodies—or even shedding the need for one—was trivial.
Thus, what Ange appeared to be outwardly mattered little; the key was the essence of his power.
Initially, he assumed his opponent was also of the Celestial Descendant Clan, but the highest-level Black Crystal Skeleton stood beside him. If his opponent were an Undead, then what was this newly summoned being?
"It seems like the Lord of Light’s power. Could this be a Deity? Let me go bite once; I’ll know." Since the grimacing face’s vow of silence had ended, it regained the ability to speak, yet it couldn’t abandon its fixation on "let me out for a bite."
The Star Progeny Master ignored its demand and reiterated: "Lord of Light?"
His eyes flickered rapidly for a few moments, and he soon retrieved information on the Lord of Light: "A Deity of the Friel Empire, already fallen."
"Fallen? Then I must have mistaken them. Let me go bite; I’ll know," chimed the grimacing face.
"The Lord of Light’s power indeed restrains Undead creatures. Summoning her is meant to counter my Fierce Spirit army? They’d better summon more than one," said the Star Progeny Master, glancing back at the Fierce Spirits.
He saw the second, third, fourth, and fifth Fierce Spirits had fully awakened, shrieking malevolently as they charged toward Ange.
The Fierce Spirits behind them also struggled to free themselves from spatial bindings. To preserve these spirits, the Star Progeny Master had instituted unique Prohibition measures, making their full awakening no easy feat.
No matter—over time, the awakening process would accelerate, from one or two at first, to dozens waking at once.
These Mourning Malevolent Spirits were failed iterations in the creation of Mourning Undead Soldiers, having lost reason and memory. Initially without much use, the Star Progeny Master had sealed them up under the principle of "useless now, useful later," and now they truly proved their worth.
Among the Mourning Malevolent Spirits, one peculiar soul—Wraith—had emerged. The one in his hand: the "bite-one" smoke. The Star Progeny Master hadn’t bothered naming it; "bite-one" could suit well enough.
Though incomplete, Wraith possessed intelligence and a unique ability: it could devour any spiritual body and assimilate its essence into its own power. This explained its unwavering desire to bite everything it encountered.
If Wraith were fed these hundreds of Mourning Malevolent Spirits, what level of soul might emerge?
But the Star Progeny Master had a grander vision—why not feed it even more? The Undead City housed tens of thousands of intelligent Undead. He’d first command the Mourning Malevolent Spirits to consume those Undead, then let Wraith devour the spirits, multiplying soul energy tenfold.
Although encountering some resistance, was a single Angel of the Lord of Light really sufficient to halt his Mourning Malevolent Spirit army?
Just as he was preparing to enjoy the spectacle, a light column ignited in the Void, striking the second Fierce Spirit—Holy Light Flash.
The Supreme Holy Spirit’s Holy Light Flash was terrifying enough to make Locke avoid it, let alone the Fierce Spirits. The second spirit, with no physical form, bore the full brunt of divine power, exploding instantly into fragments.
"Awooo~" The Little Angel cheered joyfully, tears spilling from its eyes, drifting through the Void before secretly being swept away by a ball of smoke.
The Little Angel didn’t enjoy its victory for long before Ange delivered a swift smack to its head: "Ow!"
This scoundrel was wasting divine resources again. With hundreds of Fierce Spirits, how much Holy Light could they afford to cast?
Clutching its head, the Little Angel mulled for a moment, then spun its eyes mischievously. Suddenly, it spread its wings wide, posing as if to embrace all the spirits.
The exploded Fierce Spirit fragmented into tendrils of Soul Energy, slowly converging into a central mass. Then, with a sudden burst, white-feathered wings spread wide.
A pure Four-Winged Angel emerged from the Soul Energy.
"Pfft... Another Miracle? Lord above, this isn’t recorded in the Holy Code. What is this new trick now?" Anthony, the Pope, was dumbfounded in the Void. "Why does a mere hug from the Little Angel transform Soul Energy into Holy Power?"
