Chapter 1488: Chapter 1049: This Abnormal and It’s Not Even the Main Body?
There is no Goddess of Beauty... not even a proper one. Lisa is merely the Goddess of Harvest, temporarily acting on behalf of the Goddess of Beauty.
There’s no one Lisa can’t win over. Very quickly, Deke was so thoroughly charmed that he lost his sense of direction. The power of the Goddess of Beauty was indeed potent—one touch of the Holy Light, and vitality could be restored. Deke simply couldn’t resist such temptation.
"Alright, the first treatment is complete. If you undergo twelve sessions in total, you should be able to recover to a state like mine," Lisa said with a smile.
Lisa didn’t restore Deke to a fully vibrant and lively state all at once. After all, the most profitable business is never about curing someone in one go—it’s about prolonging the process, turning acute diseases into chronic ones.
Although Lisa didn’t need to make money now, extending the treatment gave Anthony ample time to gather information, gave the silver coin plenty of opportunities to conduct business, and kept Deke hooked, which gave her more leverage to influence him.
Looking at his skin, which no longer oozed wax after just one "session," Deke was grinning ear to ear. Whatever Lisa said was golden to him, and he obediently followed. Soon, he gathered a group of Witch Demons to introduce them to Lisa.
The Witch Demons huddled around Deke, chatting animatedly as they touched his face and alchemical prosthetics.
While Lisa was busy charming Deke, Ange and the rest had already started inspecting the territory that had been allocated to them.
After making a round, Anthony gazed pensively toward the distant Undead City and said, "I thought this place was just a chaotic pile of trash and ruins. I didn’t expect it to be a forbidden zone that condenses the Laws of the Void. It appears to have exploded outward from some kind of core, forming ’petal-like’ trajectories. I wonder what lies at the core?"
It wasn’t only Anthony—everyone felt awestruck by the sight of the Undead City. The entire city resembled an exploded "flower cluster," with at least sixteen trajectory lines radiating outward from the core, erupting and then converging back to the center, forming a pattern that was near-circular at its thickest but flattened further out.
A significant amount of matter had spread along these sixteen trajectories, ultimately consolidating at the central core, resembling a colossal "flower sphere."
On the flattest plane farthest from the core gathered countless Undead. The closer to the core, the fewer Undead there were. What was referred to as the "outer layer" encompassed these flat planes, and Deke was considered the ruler of that layer.
Beyond the entire "flower cluster" lay a few floating smaller ruins. The area Deke assigned to them was one such "small" ruin. However, calling it small was misleading—its size rivaled, if not exceeded, the Giant Crystal Plane, though it wasn’t as compact.
How to describe it... it’s like a blast of molten lava erupted, bubbling and hardening as it cooled. Eventually, it formed into a porous, featureless piece of volcanic rock, which then accumulated mud, sand, stones, ice fragments, and other debris, taking the shape we see now.
Whether it was the ruins or the "flower sphere," they were both primarily structured with this kind of "volcanic rock" as their skeleton.
After observing for a while, Durken spoke. "I’ve been analyzing this place since I arrived. It feels as though something struck the plane’s core, blowing it apart. The magma inside exploded and cooled, scattering in all directions. But now that I’m looking again, it doesn’t seem to be the case."
"This resembles more of an implosion—a massive pressure binding the core from within until the binding couldn’t hold, and then the pressure was released violently, causing the explosion you see. But then, that doesn’t explain what’s outside. How is the house where the Sacrificial Mask was located still so intact? Clearly, that area doesn’t bear the signature of such an implosion’s power."
Negris nodded in agreement. "If it was an implosion, the area where the Sacrificial Mask was located couldn’t possibly remain this intact. That section of the ruins seems more like it was detached from the plane entirely by some powerful shockwave, then over a very long time, it gradually fragmented and spread out."
Anthony chimed in, "Didn’t the Sacrificial Mask claim that something struck with one blow and fragmented the plane? Sacrificial Mask, what did you see back then?"
Before the Sacrificial Mask could respond, Durken swiftly removed it from his face and held it up to the side.
Durken had realized the downside of wearing the Sacrificial Mask. When people spoke to the Mask, they also addressed him directly—especially Anthony, who exuded an overwhelming aura of authority when speaking to the Mask, gazing down with a pressuring demeanor.
After all, the Sacrificial Mask was new to the group, and if no one reined it in occasionally, it might forget its position, which would be bad for team cohesion. The problem, though, was that the Mask was on Durken’s face.
But that was simple to solve. Durken held the Mask up with one hand so it could converse with Anthony while his other hand began fiddling with his Gold-touch Stick and some materials. Soon, he created a piece of shoulder armor equipped with energy circuits.
He fastened the shoulder armor onto his shoulder and mounted the Sacrificial Mask on it. The shoulder armor featured a double-rotation structure, with two degrees of freedom allowing the Mask to rotate 270 degrees horizontally and 70 degrees vertically.
The only downside to this modification was that Durken couldn’t sense Dark Element anymore. It didn’t matter; he already had an idea—he’d get Ange to help later.
After a lengthy discussion between Negris, Anthony, and the Sacrificial Mask that led nowhere, Negris turned his head just in time to see Ange scratching his skull.
"Did you figure something out?" Negris immediately asked.
This Dead Skull always noticed plenty, but he usually wasn’t interested enough to speak up. Constantly pestering him wasn’t practical—if he got annoyed, nothing would get done. So unless it was critical, no one typically asked him.
Ange pointed to the very center of the "flower cluster" and stated, "It blocked something."
Negris’s expression shifted in shock. "Are you saying something blocked the kind of attack that could destroy an entire plane?"
Ange nodded.
Durken slapped his thigh and exclaimed, "That’s right! Whatever lies in the plane’s core blocked the initial attack. The resulting shockwave blew away the surface soil, exposing the molten magma beneath. It was only the second strike that managed to shatter the magma core!"
"Hiss—" A chorus of sharp, drawn breaths followed. Negris gasped, "Forget about the attack destroying the plane—there’s something out there capable of withstanding it? Could it be the Plane Consciousness itself?"
"It must be the Plane Consciousness. What else could withstand such devastating force? But still, how was the magma core shattered? Even if the surface layer was blown away, exposing the magma core, it wouldn’t necessarily lead to this implosion-like effect," Durken mused in confusion.
Everyone turned their gaze to Ange.
Ange clenched his hand, and a black sphere appeared in his palm. Instantly, the surrounding light dimmed. The others felt an uncontrollable pull toward the black sphere, as if being drawn into it.
Then Ange released his hand. With a soft "pop," the black sphere exploded, sending out a faint shockwave. Only then did that pulling sensation vanish.
Negris exclaimed, "Big Mouth? Are you suggesting that someone used Big Mouth’s power to bind the Plane Consciousness and the magma core together, then detonated it to cause the implosion?"
Ange nodded.
Anthony couldn’t help but give a bitter smile. "If that’s the case, we’re dealing with the Void Origin. Could Big Mouth have brothers or sisters here?"
"Ange, should you summon your true body? If it’s Void Origin, you likely can’t defeat it in your current state," Negris suggested, looking to Ange.
Ange scratched his skull in contemplation without answering, seemingly lost in thought.
Meanwhile, the Sacrificial Mask turned toward Durken, whispering, "What do they mean by that? True body? Is the Lord not in his true form already? If he can’t win now, would summoning his true body make any difference? How could someone capable of destroying a plane in one blow be beaten?"
Durken replied in a whisper, "The Lord is precisely that kind of being... Well, forget it. You wouldn’t understand the Seven Forces Unification of Farming Origin."
Durken initially intended to explain but realized it would be too complicated, so he left the Sacrificial Mask confused and bewildered.
Suddenly, Deke flew over, looking at Ange’s group with curiosity. "Hmm, I just sensed the Sage of the Abyss’s presence. Did you see him? I was just about to search for him. Could I have mistaken the feeling? No, that can’t be—the Sage’s aura is one of a kind."
Negris and the others exchanged glances. Anthony feigned confusion and asked, "The Sage of the Abyss? Which esteemed entity is that? What does his aura feel like?"
Just as Deke was about to respond, Ange lifted his head to glance toward the Undead City. Everyone else also looked up, and soon Deke shouted, "He’s here, he’s here! The Sage of the Abyss has arrived. I knew I wasn’t mistaken about sensing his aura!"
An indistinct shadow appeared, seated on a slab of rock as it extended its hand forward. The stone slab slid rapidly, moving ahead with speed.
