Foreign Land Reclamation By a Vegetable-growing Skeleton
Chapter 1369 - Chapter 1369 903 This is exactly Anges ability

Chapter 1369: 903 This is exactly Ange’s ability Chapter 1369: 903 This is exactly Ange’s ability “Your name,” the Monarch asked.

“Lise.”

Lise’s story was rather cliche. She had been a landlord’s daughter, owning several dozens of acres. She fell in love with a farmer who worked for her family. Her parents disapproved, so they met in secret, she became pregnant, and her father died from the shock. Her brother inherited the estate and drove her away.

Her farmer husband left their hometown and struggled to make a living. His temper worsened, he drank, became abusive, and even considered selling her. Enraged, she struck her husband with a mallet twice, not knowing if she had killed him, and ran away.

On the road, she experienced labor pains and fainted from the agony, waking to find herself here. A group of orphans living in the Chaotic Burial Mound had rescued her, and she had been living with them ever since.

Lise didn’t understand what had happened to her body, only noticing that the baby had stopped moving. Apart from her enlarged belly, she didn’t feel much discomfort.

Yet even if she was suffering, there was nothing she could do. She had no money to seek a wizard’s treatment and couldn’t possibly return to her former home.

Her brother, who had inherited the estate, would have probably just placed her in some remote house, providing barely enough food to keep her from starving. Life here was no different.

The ones who saved her were a group of orphans, kids who could barely fend for themselves but still kindly shared their already scarce food with her, giving her the largest share because she was pregnant.

After recovering, Lise also tried hard to sustain herself, but, heavily pregnant, she was unable to do much. Begging in the city was forbidden; offenders were thrown into slave camps.

As the orphans’ food supplies started running low, Lise picked a fruit from a corner of the tomb to eat.

The orphans stopped her: “That’s a Deadman’s Fruit, the living can’t eat it–eat too much, and you’ll turn into one of the undead.”

Already somewhat despondent, Lise responded by biting into it aggressively: “Good, I don’t want to live anymore.”

The fruit tasted quite good. Lise ate three and thought it would be nice if death came swiftly. Yet after four or five days, not only had she not died, but she had also gained a little weight.

Moreover, after eating the fruit, she felt a slight movement in her belly again, reigniting her hope.

From then on, she survived on these commonly known Deadman’s Fruits. She discovered something else–if she sucked hard on them first, Deadman’s Fruits turned into something even a normal person could eat.

And with each suck, the fetus inside her grew stronger.

By this time, she realized that the fetus might not be normal anymore, but she stubbornly believed it was her child, no matter what it turned into.

Thanks to these unwanted Deadman’s Fruits, she and the cemetery’s orphans managed to survive. One winter passed without the loss of a single life, a miracle considering that normally half of these street children would die off during the winter.

However, as winter approached and the Deadman’s Fruits dwindled, Lise had to find a way to grow them. Discovering they could thrive in the dark tomb, she transplanted some trees she found outside into the warm tomb.

Initially planted in soil, the trees struggled in the tomb’s dampness and began to rot. So, she used moss as a growing medium.

Using moss didn’t improve the trees’ health much, but those near a corner where water pooled grew well. Consequently, she tried using water from the pooled area, eventually finding that water left overnight worked best.

Thus, Lise managed to secure part of their food supply, while the roaming orphans figured out how to cover the rest. Together, they fiercely survived two winters. It was now Lise’s third year here, and her greatest regret was that her child had not yet come.

The Monarch listened to her story and was somewhat surprised, “You mean this is your third year here, so you’ve only been here for two years and a new soul has already formed a Soul Heart? That quick?”

In the Undead Empire, a Soul Heart already belonged to higher-class undead–Golden Skeletons, Iron Skin Zombies, Undead Saints, Dark Knight Emperors, and so on; even these top-tier undead only had Soul Hearts.

Of course, Soul Hearts also varied in strength, but no matter how weak, it was impossible for one to condense in just two years.

Lise nodded, “Really, it’s only been two years; this year is my third, around the same season too.”

Lise cooperatively spoke; the past few years had made her grow a lot. She was no longer the naive farm girl she once was; she had long learned to read situations and people.

The immense ‘man’ before her focused on the soul and showed no reaction to her experiences, obviously not caring about her matters, only seeking information.

Therefore, his help was probably just an exchange–she mustn’t entertain the thought of using pity to garner sympathy. With this realization, Lise became very cooperative.

However, when Ange brought the necessary tools, Lise still couldn’t keep calm, frantically saying, “You… what are you going to do?”

Because the tools Ange brought included a shiny dagger. Previously, Ange didn’t need a knife for dissection, but now it was different; if not handled well, it could split a body in two. His Face Purification Technique couldn’t be used carelessly like before; it was better to conserve it.

Ange explained the steps, “Cut open, take out, treat, vitalize, rebirth.”

“Cut open? And I can still live? And my child too? No, no, I thought you could let me give birth naturally. I don’t want to be cut open.” Lise jumped up in fright; she had never heard of anyone surviving having their belly cut open.

Unfortunately, she had already agreed, and it wasn’t as simple as just saying no. Ange grabbed her, knocked her out, sliced open her belly, removed the stone fetus, then pinched the belly skin back together and applied the Face Purification Technique.

Her belly skin healed quickly, and even the pregnancy marks vanished without a trace due to the Face Purification Technique, leaving her skin white and tender. She might even doubt she’d ever been pregnant once she awoke.

After dealing with her, Ange turned to the stone fetus, first extracting the Soul Heart and handing it to the Monarch.

The soul had been nurtured from the fetus and wasn’t the fetus itself but merely an undead entity. Because of its presence, Lise could absorb the breath of death from the fruit.

After the soul was removed, the remaining stone fetus was the most difficult to handle. Essentially, it was already an undead carcass; the best way to revitalize and resurrect it was with Insect Ash Liquid.

But Ange didn’t have Insect Ash Liquid now; he could only use the mighty Life Force of the World Tree combined with the Face Purification Technique, barely vitalizing it halfway. The other half depended on itself, as it was still a fetus and could continue to grow.

If it weren’t for this fact, Ange wouldn’t dare say he could resurrect it; he had no materials on hand now.

Ange punched it in the heart–Rebirth Technique, then immediately applied the Face Purification Technique; the underdeveloped fetus grew rapidly, from seven months, to eight, to nine, until finally it cried out loudly.

The rapid-fire procedures left the Monarch stunned; he was experienced in cutting people down, but saving them? He was not familiar with that. Could it really be done this way?

“You revived a toughened carcass and gave it consciousness? Isn’t it said that consciousness cannot be created?” the Monarch said in shock.

Ange replied, “I am a Law Breaker.”

The Monarch suddenly remembered; Ange, the Law Breaker, defied the Second Law of the Void–consciousness cannot be created. Creating new consciousness was indeed Ange’s ability.
