Chapter 1276 - Chapter 1276 Chapter 839 Lets Not Move
Chapter 1276: Chapter 839: Let’s Not Move Chapter 1276: Chapter 839: Let’s Not Move If Ange’s fighting style was precise and flawless, the Undead King’s style was overbearing and fierce. Every stream of dark energy unleashed from the energy orb was split through the air by the Scythe of the Undead.
Or during a tactical retreat, he would whittle them down before cleaving them apart. Those unaware might think the Monarch was wielding not a scythe, but an axe.
Shadows burst repeatedly from the energy orb, angrily entangling in a brawl with the Undead King. Amidst a flurry of slashes, the shadow’s form was split into seventeen or eighteen segments, falling back into the orb. After a while, a new shadow surged out again.
The entire process kept repeating, seemingly for a considerable length of time.
Seeing that the Monarch was not in any danger, Ange and the others quickly withdrew back into the mist, quietly hiding and watching from a distance.
Anthony and Negriss lacked the ability to observe from afar, not to mention doing so stealthily. They could only share Ange’s vision while the Abyssal Big Mouth had to rely on its own methods to observe.
In the Chaos Mist, the ability to perceive was vital. Even if you could see just ten meters further than others, it could give you an enormous advantage.
As for those with narrow vision, they wouldn’t live long in the Chaos Mist, often dying without even knowing how.
The moment Anthony and Negriss shared Ange’s vision, they immediately noticed it had changed. Before, Ange’s distant vision comprised of dotted lines that would distort upon encountering matter or force fields, highlighting them.
But now, Ange’s vision was composed of countless dots representing matter and force fields. Any changes in those would radiate outward, forming an image akin to a dot matrix.
Anthony murmured in the Soul Network, “This looks like some kind of energy fluctuation diagram?”
“Dark Element,” Ange replied.
Negriss startled, “You’ve learned to observe the outside world with the fluctuations of the Dark Element?”
Ange didn’t respond, but Negriss, familiar with his habits, guessed that he was either nodding or shaking his head.
The Dark Element was omnipresent and highly penetrative, indeed an excellent method for observation. However, it required adjustment to use as it couldn’t show clear outlines and colors of objects, nor any light and shadow effects, only the radiating dot matrix.
Yet, the details it provided were exceedingly rich. Every movement of the Undead Ruler and the New Dark Source, the actions of their fingers, even the ripples of their speech, could be presented in this manner.
Suddenly, a very regular wave of fluctuations radiated from the New Dark Source, and immediately after, its angry voice reached everyone’s ears, “Damn Undead Ruler, why don’t you get tired?! Months, aren’t you exhausted?!”
“Hehe, not tired, but a bit bored,” the Monarch leisurely responded. “You keep repeating the same few moves. Do you have any new techniques? Switch it up and entertain me with something new.”
“Damn, I’m asking you why you’re not tired, and you’re telling me to change moves? Where does your power come from? How is it that after three months, it’s still not exhausted?!” The New Dark Source roared with a face expressing a collapse in its worldview.
The Monarch held the huge scythe, picking his brain with the tip of the blade, and casually said, “You already call me the Undead Ruler, so of course my power comes from an immortal, undying soul. You don’t really think you could trap me with this broken realm and drain me to death, do you?”
“Damn it, where are there any souls here!?” New Dark Source roared in anger.
“Heh, if I kill you, won’t there be one? Change up your moves; otherwise it’ll be so boring.” The Monarch’s smile was amiable, but his moves were swift–within moments, he had sliced the attacking shadow into seventeen or eighteen pieces.
Within Ange’s Soul Network, Anthony and Negriss rapidly exchanged opinions: “Your Majesty seems not to need our help; it feels like he can handle it by himself.”
“If he could handle it, why hasn’t he? It’s been almost three months–doesn’t he worry about being drained to death? Where does he even get Soul Energy replenishment? He hasn’t established a Soul Network in the Chaos Plane, so he has no subjects offering him their power,” Negriss remarked.
“That’s true; Your Majesty hasn’t established a Soul Network in the Chaos Plane but has become much more powerful than before. Where does His Majesty’s power come from? It can’t all be from plundering those Ancient Gods, can it? How many Ancient Gods would he have to slay?” Anthony couldn’t help but be astounded.
“Didn’t you hear what the Little Moon Demon King and the others said? Every Ancient God that encountered him was slain by him. Think about how long he’s been in the Chaos Plane? At most, not even eight hundred years. To the Ancient Gods of the Chaos Plane, that’s just the blink of an eye, and in such a short time, he’s made a name as the Undead Ruler; it’s unimaginable how many he’s slaughtered,” Negriss commented sarcastically.
“But no matter how many Your Majesty has slain, he’s at a disadvantage now. Haven’t you noticed? When New Dark Source is killed, its form falls back into that Dark Element mass, meaning that New Dark Source suffers almost no loss. If this continues, there will come a day when Your Majesty will be exhausted by it,” Anthony said with concern.
“Then why doesn’t he just finish it? What’s with all this dragging out?” Negriss said irritably.
“There must be some concern, I guess. With Little Dark Source and Locke missing, could they have been trapped in the Energy Orb?” Anthony speculated.
After discussing for a while and coming up with no plausible explanations, they exited the Soul Network and approached Abyssal Big Mouth to ask, “The current situation seems a bit different from what we expected. What do we do now?”
Abyssal Big Mouth spread his hands: “Your Undead Ruler seems not to need help.”
“We do need it. Your Majesty is currently at a stalemate; there could be some concern. We should first try to rescue Little Dark Source and Locke, which might alleviate Your Majesty’s concern. You understand the power of Dark Origin better–is there a way to rescue them? Can we use the Abyss Ball?” Anthony inquired.
Abyssal Big Mouth immediately waved his hands, “No, no, we can’t use the Abyss Ball in this situation. Otherwise, it would be equivalent to sending energy to New Dark Source. Before I lost contact with Little Dark Source and the Undead Ruler, we were in the process of a ‘pull,’ which is why I wanted to use this method. Now that the door has been sealed, forcefully pulling it might cause a collapse.”
“What should we do?” Anthony asked, distressed. He was uncomfortable with the lack of control. He was always the kind of person who had multiple contingency plans for any situation, but now the scene before him was far beyond his understanding. He had no idea what would work, let alone have a backup plan.
“Shall we just wait and see?” Abyssal Big Mouth was also troubled. It had always been the type to swallow anything into the Abyss. If it weren’t for the ultimate target being the Void Will, it wouldn’t be so cautious.
At this moment, Negriss suddenly raised a finger to his lips, gave a soft ‘shush,’ and gestured toward Ange.
Everyone looked, only to see Ange crouching and sneaking, carefully and lightly, reaching toward the back side.
“He seems to have found something. Let’s not move.”
