Chapter 1218 - Chapter 1218 Chapter 782 Dont Fight Hurry Up and Leave

Chapter 1218: Chapter 782: Don’t Fight, Hurry Up and Leave Chapter 1218: Chapter 782: Don’t Fight, Hurry Up and Leave Thunder Spear clutched a bottle of beetroot wine tightly, muttering beside Anthony as if he were a junior staffer reporting to a president.

“Are you really not going to harm everyone? These are all my juniors, I watched them grow up, you mustn’t harm them.” Thunder Spear repeatedly confirmed this.

Although Amelia had also verified that they were indeed here to help, Thunder Spear was not very confident about the Church of Light’s credibility.

“Of course not, we are just here to help. Once we put down the things, we will leave. But what about you, are you really sure the third exit leads to the center of the Chaos Plane? Is it near this coordinate point? Are you certain? If not, I will take your wine back and pour it out right in front of you.”

Thunder Spear’s face darkened, but soon he added, “It’s also not okay to capture them, and it’s not a matter of ‘not okay,’ but we’ll need more wine.”

“Why is harming them not okay, but capturing them is? Your standards seem quite flexible,” the innkeeper curiously said.

Thunder Spear sighed, “They’re practically no different from captives now. Maybe being captured by you would even lead to a better life.”

“What do you mean?” Negris was puzzled and couldn’t help but ask.

Thunder Spear sighed, “You’ll see what I mean.”

Soon, everyone understood what Thunder Spear meant, as they saw every member of the Void Clan, who had come to greet them, had a ‘small elf’ with large ears squatting on their shoulders.

Those were creatures the size of a palm, but when Ange and Anthony saw them, they immediately furrowed their brows. Anthony, in a low voice, murmured, “Belief parasite?”

Thunder Spear sighed and said, “You see now, don’t you? I’ve told them, but they don’t believe me. They say those are pets, assistants, companions given to them by the Hole Bugs, helping them survive in the Void. Without these Void creatures, they can’t forge such a reputation for the Void Clan.”

“But why doesn’t Amelia have one?” someone asked, puzzled.

“Of course, because I persuaded her. But I’ve advised many people, and not everyone listens, plus Amelia’s spatial magic is strong. She can survive well without any Void creatures.”

“Yet, these are belief parasites. Once infected, they can never live without these Spirits of Faith. They continuously suck away their faith, making their appearance wither, shortening their lifespans, making them confused,” Negris said.

“Yes, but without these Spirits of Faith, their lifespan isn’t going to be much longer anyways. The Chaos Plane is too treacherous; ordinary people here simply can’t survive,” Thunder Spear said helplessly.

As the Thunder God, Thunder Spear, who possessed godly status, understood well what these Spirits of Faith were–they are tools used by the gods to control believers, parasites that feed off the Power of Faith.

Believers infected by the Spirit of Faith are not in control of their thoughts and souls; they can be devout and fervent at every moment, much like consuming a Blood-consuming Potion.

This sends their strength up a notch, but correspondingly, it continuously burns their Life Force, forming chronic life sacrifices, somewhat like a slow-release version of fanatics like Oke.

Over time, it causes lack of energy, lower back pain, dizziness, lethargy, ED, PE, and so forth.

Yet, all these deficiencies, in the harsh environment of the Chaos Plane, can’t really be considered drawbacks because without the parasitic Spirits of Faith, ordinary people find it very difficult to survive in such conditions.

A single exposure to the Void could be fatal, not to mention the omnipresent low oxygen, low temperatures, and disordered space.

Even before being parasitized by the Spirits of Faith, they would conduct a ritual, clearly explaining to the host the dangers involved, openly telling everyone that choosing such a companion would reduce their lifespan to fifty years.

Upon hearing this, everyone immediately thought: Oh my, isn’t this wonderful? This extends our family’s lifespan.

Because without the Spirits of Faith, the average lifespan of the Void Clan would not surpass thirty-five years.

“If you were in their place, how would you choose?” Thunder Spear said, resigned.

Anthony pondered, “With the Spirits of Faith, there must be gods involved. What are they called?”

“A fellow called the Hole God, claims to be the incarnation of the Hole Bug,” Thunder Spear replied.

“Thunder Spear answered so quickly that Anthony realized something,” Have you fought him? Who won?”

“Single-handedly, I won,” Thunder Spear admitted awkwardly.

“Were there many of them?” Anthony frowned, “How many?”

“The entire Void Clan was with him; I could only run when they all attacked together,” Thunder Spear said helplessly.

Anthony responded helplessly, “What a hassle, forget it, we don’t have time, never mind, just give it back to me.”

Snatching the wine bottle back, Anthony suggested to Ange, “My lord, we drop the light point and leave; we don’t go through here, we’ll take a detour.”

Amelia had once said that the space passage they were in led directly to the edge of Chaos because of the tide, what was once the edge was now deep within the Chaos Mist, and not far from the coordinates the Monarch had left them.

They originally wanted to save some energy by using the space passage to get to the Monarch’s location, because, with the situation in the Chaos Plane now, who knows what they would encounter on the road.

But unexpectedly, the situation inside the space passage was even more complex; those Void Clan people had actually been parasitized by the Spirit of Faith, which was Anthony’s least favorite situation.

Because those parasitized people had no autonomy; their every action was controlled by the gods behind the scenes, beyond Anthony’s persuasion.

A Godman unable to sway his enemies; his most powerful ability effectively nullified; how could he not hate it? Best to just drop the stuff and leave.

As Thunder Spear had said, although it was a parasitic relationship, without the Spirit of Faith’s parasitism, these humans could not survive in the Void.

Just a shorter life, although it couldn’t compare to the average human lifespan under Ange’s rule, in fact, the humans not under Ange’s rule also didn’t have such long lifespans.

Previously, the Eastern Diocese had an average lifespan of only 47.6 years, the Western District barely reached 43 years, and the Land of Fallen was even worse, at just 39 years.

That is to say, in the harsh environment of the Chaos Plane, the Spirit of Faith’s parasitism actually allows ordinary humans to have a lifespan exceeding that of humans under the Church of Light in the plane.

An average lifespan of fifty years might be brief for a Dwarf, but for someone like Anthony who was accustomed to hardship, it was already quite good. Thus, although Thunder Spear spoke tragically, Anthony didn’t plan to do anything; just release the light point and leave.

“Don’t, don’t, don’t,” Thunder Spear tried to rush forward and cling to Anthony’s leg, “Let’s talk it over, leave the wine, we won’t trouble you, just agree to shelter them, I’ll handle the Evil God, how about that?”

“You don’t have the right to define others; that’s the authority of the God of Arbitration,” Anthony bluffed, but he still handed back the bottle, otherwise, Thunder Spear might really cling to his leg.

Thunder Spear angrily glared, puffing his beard; was this an attempt to strip his right to judge? He was the Thunder God, the Dwarf’s God; what did the Arbitration have to do with it?

Anthony made a move to take the wine bottle back.

Quickly forcing a smile, Thunder Spear said, “Okay, okay, okay, the authority of the God of Arbitration, please let the God of Arbitration come and judge his sin, then I’ll go and hammer him, how about that?”

“I’m worried that after you hammer him, these people from the Void Clan will have nowhere to go. Since your Church of Light has established a base here, there should be a place to shelter them. Under your rule, they should live a happier life than being parasitized, right?”

Anthony thought to himself that that might not necessarily be the case, but he said aloud, “The God of Arbitration has committed a crime, has already been judged by the Light, now only the God of Balance reigns under the Light, we are in a hurry, not intending to judge anyone, if you want to return to the Master Plane to see your people, I can take you back, the current Dwarf King is a young man named Copper Hammer.”

“You’re not going to intervene? Isn’t infestation by the Spirit of Faith defined as evil by the Church of Light? Aren’t you going to launch a holy war? Don’t you believe in the Light?” Thunder Spear questioned in astonishment.

“Light can’t illuminate every corner; may you always have wine to drink, farewell,” Anthony said and drifted toward Amelia, indicating by his manner that if Thunder Spear kept bothering him, he wouldn’t take him back.

Amelia was describing the situation to a few clan members who had come to meet her, but somehow a disagreement arose, and when Anthony drifted over, one of Amelia’s clan members pointed sharply at Anthony and shouted, “Sound the alarm; catch them!”

Amelia suddenly pushed with both hands, producing a Dimension Shield to block her companions while she turned and shouted, “Don’t fight; you guys get out of here; they don’t believe me, they want to capture you…”

She didn’t finish her sentence when one of her companions threw out the Spirit of Faith, bypassed Amelia’s Dimension Shield, transformed into a powerful Martial God, and struck Amelia with a forceful blow.

PS: These next few days of Qingming, updates are irregular; the workload in the south for Qingming is massive, and I’m spent when I return, especially for a homebody like me.
