Chapter 1027 - Chapter 1027 Chapter 596 The True Use of the Secret Technique
Chapter 1027: Chapter 596: The True Use of the Secret Technique Chapter 1027: Chapter 596: The True Use of the Secret Technique “Is it possible that the Evil God is the Lord of Annihilation, and so he wants this skeleton, exchanging it for the Starburst Array?” Negris speculated.
“Is it necessary? If he is the Evil God, then he has the ability to mass-produce the Lord of Mourning. Why exchange a Starburst Array for a skeleton?” Anthony asked.
“Maybe he lacks a body, and there is only one Mourning Skeleton in this world?” Negris guessed.
“If he’s missing a body, he traps Locke. If he’s not, wouldn’t he be invincible?” Feiti said.
Everyone hesitated, as they couldn’t make this decision; they could only turn to Ange.
Ange tilted his head in confusion.
“We’re asking you, to exchange or not? Have you been distracted by farming again and didn’t hear our discussion?” Negris said angrily, sure that the dead skull had shifted his attention elsewhere.
Ange nodded, “Exchange.”
“Uh, did you not listen to our analysis? If we exchange it, then the Lord of Annihilation may have a new body, becoming a very powerful being,” Negris felt sure the dead skull hadn’t listened and quickly emphasized the key point again.
“Powerful? Mourning? Kill it,” Ange said.
The others’ spirits lifted. After looking at each other for a moment, Negris nodded, “Right, how powerful could it be? Even if…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, but everyone understood, even if ‘powerful to the Monarch’s level’, Ange might not necessarily lose.
Feiti, Durken, and Anthony had all seen the Undead King. The king’s soul was vast and boundless, but so was Ange’s.
Just looking at how Ange could only move the hands of his Black Crystal Body, the Monarch’s soul seemed far stronger than Ange’s. But don’t forget, Ange had six or seven God Statuses and Divine Techniques that could trouble any enemy.
In a real fight, even the Undead King might not be able to firmly suppress Ange. So, how powerful could the Lord of Annihilation become after obtaining the Purple Gold Body? A Mourning Skeleton?
As long as it wasn’t as strong as the Undead King, there was nothing to fear.
And what could Ange do with the Starburst Array?
“Farm,” Ange said.
“Farm your head!” Negris shouted angrily, “We could shoot Faith Storms at others.”
Durken quickly threw cold water on the idea: “Don’t get too excited yet. The Sorcerer Alliance is willing to exchange the Starburst Array because there must be some problem with the Star Burst Magic, and it’s a serious one. It’s been months without charging energy, even though they said they would attack inside the Annihilation Boundary. I’m worried that the Starburst Array might not have the ability to fire anymore.”
Negris was unconcerned, “But you’re here, aren’t you? What spectacle has ever troubled the King of Alchemy?”
That left Durken speechless. He might be the King of Alchemy, but not the God of Alchemy; how could he guarantee to handle a Starburst Array he had never seen before?
“At least we can ensure that the Starburst won’t fall on us. Otherwise, living in constant fear is too uncomfortable,” Negris added.
“?” The God of Life exuded confusion, popping out from Ange’s shoulder.
Who’s constantly on guard? Did they think it didn’t exist? If the Starburst Array made a move, it would have alerted everyone early on.
Talking without regard could offend people. If Ange wasn’t covering for it, the Little Yellow Dragon would have been wrapped in a shroud and beaten up.
Next, after carefully examining the situation with the Breath of Death’s surge, they finally allowed Durken to find the switch for it.
“Here, there should have been something blocking the air here. The air within the Farm Barrier was trapped, unable to escape. That is until the Lord stirred the Resting Wind and removed some of the Breath of Death here, causing an imbalance in pressure. The object fell, air rushed in and gushed from the bottom of the Liquid of Breath of Death, triggering its rapid vaporization, leading to the outburst,” Durken explained.
“What was the object?” Negris asked.
“Probably a stone. It should have fallen nearby into the Liquid of Breath of Death. Have someone feel around for it, see if they can find it,” Durken suggested.
Ange extended four Spirit Touches, sweeping swiftly into the Liquid of Rest, feeling out seven or eight large stones, until the ninth, when Durken suddenly said, “Stop, that should be it. See if you can wedge it back in place.”
This stone had a very smooth ring of compression marks on it, fitting almost exactly with the size of the hole.
Using Spirit Touch, Ange gripped it, adjusted the angle, and pulled it up. It fit snugly into the passage, seamless and tight.
“That should be the one. Cat, go outside and check if the Breath of Death’s eruption has stopped, will you?” Durken said.
Big Cat ran out to the large open space, plunged to the ground, and quickly morphed back into a chubby cat form, fiercely nodding.
“Then it’s settled. It seems the Liquid of Breath of Death was under pressure, kept in check here. The Lord’s Resting Wind removed a part of it, probably causing a surge of the Liquid of Breath of Death, which loosened and slipped down. Since it sank into the Liquid of Breath of Death, we didn’t notice and overlooked it,” Durken explained.
Negris incredulously said, “The eruption of the Breath of Death is such a severe issue, and it was simply blocked with a stone? Your Majesty, isn’t that a bit too child’s play?”
“An ingenious setup often requires only the simplest means to accomplish. However, this is probably Locke’s doing; it loves to use brute force, and it’s obvious that the stone was forcibly twisted into place by it,” Durken said.
Anthony commented, “What’s truly ingenious are these farm barriers. Without the multiple, stacked farm barriers, it would have been impossible to produce air here, let alone trigger the rapid gasification of the Liquid of Breath of Death.”
Upon hearing this, Durken proudly raised his head, Anthony really knew how to speak. The farm barrier was also his invention.
Just then, Durken felt something scratching at his foot. Looking down, he saw a large cat emphatically pressing its paw against the ground in front of it.
“Uh, do you want a reward? Just because I let you out to take a look just now?” Durken was a little puzzled.
“Aowu~” The big cat said as a matter of course, “Equivalent exchange, understand?”
“Uh, alright, alright, will a Dimensional Badge do?” Durken begrudgingly coughed up a hefty price to appease the big cat.
Having identified the cause, Ange once again pushed the large stone aside, letting it roll into the Liquid of Breath of Death, and the eruption of the Breath of Death resumed.
This was part of the plan, first to let the Breath of Death fill the land within the death line, then to check where the Breath of Death was particularly thin, and thereby locate the Evil God.
“Let’s go, let’s go, restore the place, and leave here,” Negris called out, then suddenly thought of something, “Take some Liquid of Breath of Death with us.”
It didn’t need to say that; the collection had already begun.
Ange stuffed the Bronze Book into the Dimensional Space, and then Negris saw a large pit of Liquid of Breath of Death. Ange had dug a large hole in the Dimensional Space and poured at least several tons of Liquid of Breath of Death into it.
To prevent the diffusion of the Liquid of Breath of Death, Ange’s hole was made with a wide bottom and a small opening, which he directly covered.
Returning to the Undead Temple, they set down Kent, then teleported to Northern Wind City. The moment they emerged from the Teleportation Array, they saw silver coins.
“Silver coins? What are you doing here?” Negris asked.
Silver had been too busy, wishing to split in half to manage everything. He shouldn’t have had the leisure to return to Northern Wind City, as according to his words, the commercial foundation here was poor, not conducive to his performance.
“Good day, Lord, good day, Lord Negris, here’s the thing – the harvest season is upon us, and I’m arranging for the urgent collection and purchase of the crops,” Silver explained.
“The harvest season is here?” Anthony was the first to exclaim in surprise, “Then that’s really great, the famine can finally come to an end.”
During this time, the famine had actually never stopped. The shortage of food was a rigid situation, not like before when it was due to regional imbalances or delayed transport. Indeed, the food reserves were not enough for the consumption of all sentient beings on this plane.
However, thanks to Ange’s Elf Rapeseed Cakes, plus the full-scale relief efforts of the Sorcerer Alliance and the Undead Empire, there were no widespread starvation deaths.
But there were still occasional outbreaks of famine, and it wasn’t uncommon for the entire village to starve to death from time to time.
Anthony didn’t have tens of thousands of soldiers or thousands of capable administrative staff. Relying solely on himself, he couldn’t do much. By himself, it would take him several years to traverse the entire plane and he wouldn’t be able to accomplish anything.
Only with the harvest season and the great abundance of crops could the famine possibly come to a complete end. Alternatively, more cruelly, by waiting for some of the population to starve, thereby reducing the demand for food, the famine would end as nature, in its most ruthless way, would restore balance to the food chain.
“It’s soon; in another week, the crops of Northern Wind City will be ready for harvest. As for other places, the crops planted vary, as do the temperatures and climates, but the main staples will be harvested in the next two weeks,” Silver said.
“Thanks to the Sorcerer Alliance and the Undead Empire, we have a bountiful harvest today. This year we had two major typhoons, one flooding the main grain-producing area, and another a drought, both of which were mitigated by their Wizards and Alchemists,” Silver said excitedly.
Negris’ eyes widened: “Such a grand gesture?”
The most powerful aspect of arcane magic is its ability to manipulate weather patterns, like Tyrone who, when intercepting the Dragon Clan, used his own arcane magic–Typhoon. However, Tyrone’s Typhoon was several magnitudes weaker compared to naturally occurring typhoons. Now, the Sorcerer Alliance and the Undead Empire had managed to dispel two typhoons with sheer manpower?
This meant they had released at least as many arcane magic spells of the caliber of Typhoon as there were.
Having discussed the details with Silver, Anthony couldn’t help but marvel, “It’s astonishing, this is the true use of arcane arts, flood prevention and drought resistance, rainfall and fertilization, aiding productivity, and eliminating famine from the world.”
With the cooperation of the two great powers, at least they weren’t undermining each other. This planting season’s exceptionally great harvests, with growth exceeding double that of previous years, as long as no man-made disasters occur, marked the true end of the famine that lasted for half a year.
Relieved, Anthony couldn’t help but entertain other thoughts and turned to Ange, saying, “Lord, why don’t we organize a Spring Breeze Cup grain competition here, what do you think?”
Negris was taken aback, “Are you crazy? Aren’t you afraid that your identity will be exposed, and you’ll be bombarded by the Starburst Array?”
Anthony smiled slightly, “What is my identity? I am the Pope of the Church of Light, Saint Anthony, and I have a bunch of bones here that the Annihilation Warlocks want. They probably won’t bombard me, right?”
