Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire -
Chapter 107: Rose Flavor
Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Rose Flavor
Charlotte Summers pinched herself hard on her arm.
Ouch!
It seems it’s not a dream.
She tilted her head towards Serena Summers, her expression complex.
"So, President Edward Selwyn of Horizon Group is your senior brother?"
Serena Summers nodded, no longer hiding it.
Charlotte Summers: "...Why do you seem so calm? Who is spreading the rumors that you were raised in the countryside with no education and haven’t seen the world?"
Serena Summers: "Probably those who can’t see me succeed."
Serena knew in her heart that these words had come from the Summers Family.
When she was taken back to the Summers Family, Serena had also thought about revealing her true identity.
But before she could speak, she found that everyone in the Summers Family was convinced she was from the countryside.
The entire Summers Family, including the servants, looked at her with disdain and mockery.
Even if she ate one more fruit from the Summers Family, they would look at her with pity and charity.
Believing she had never eaten such good things in her life.
Therefore, Serena changed her mind.
She decided to temporarily conceal her identity.
She originally thought time would prove everything.
But instead of waiting for the Summers Family’s attitude towards her to change, she ended up being pressured by them to marry for the sake of family happiness.
Recalling the past, a trace of irony slowly formed on Serena’s lips.
Charlotte remembered the rumors about Serena and was also somewhat speechless.
She didn’t understand what the Summers Family was thinking; neglecting their own daughter and doting on the adopted one.
If they knew Serena’s real identity, they would probably regret it deeply.
"Assistant Young, do you have any other matters? If not, I need to go home," Serena asked.
"Miss, let me take you home."
"No need, someone will pick me up later."
Serena softly refused with a smile, her eyes suddenly catching a glimpse of a familiar figure, causing her to pause.
She quickly turned her head, scanning the crowd.
"Miss, what’s wrong?" Assistant Young asked softly.
"Nothing, I just saw an acquaintance."
Serena shook her head with a smile, but a hint of doubt arose in her heart.
"Acquaintance? You have acquaintances at S University?" Charlotte looked surprised.
"Why? Can’t I?"
"...Of course, I was just curious."
At this point, Charlotte was beginning to doubt her life.
She always felt that, except for looks, she was better than Serena in every other aspect.
After witnessing Serena’s true medical talent, Charlotte comforted herself that at least she had a decent family background.
But now, Charlotte felt completely overwhelmed by Serena.
Crushed in every aspect!
She felt as though she had suffered ten thousand critical hits.
However, this pain was something only she could understand.
It was just... quite stifling.
"I’m going to go now, I’m afraid if I continue to stay with you, I might become depressed." Charlotte waved to Serena and quickly walked away.
Watching her flee, Serena helplessly curved her lips into a smile.
"Assistant Young, you can go back first, I need to stop by the lab," Serena said with a smile to Assistant Young and headed back to S University.
When she arrived at the lab, it was empty.
No trace of anyone touching items in the cabinets.
Serena frowned in confusion.
Could she have been mistaken?
The next morning, Serena Summers changed her clothes and went out the door.
She and Charlotte Summers had agreed to go shopping at the mall today.
Lucas Shaw leaned against the car, waiting quietly for Serena.
He was still dressed in a pure black suit, which felt cold even under the sun.
Serena, on the other hand, wore an off-shoulder chiffon blouse on top, paired with versatile jeans and white sneakers on her feet.
Her black, shiny hair was tied up in a high ponytail, with delicate bangs covering her smooth, full forehead, giving her an exquisite and lovely appearance.
Seeing Serena’s outfit, Lucas Shaw was momentarily stunned.
For some reason, standing next to Serena always gave him the illusion of an old cow eating young grass.
"Get in."
Lucas Shaw opened the car door and placed his hand above her head, careful not to let her bump her forehead.
This thoughtful gesture warmed Serena’s heart.
She gave Lucas Shaw a big, bright smile.
Looking at that charming and lovely face, Lucas Shaw’s eyes deepened.
He leaned over and grabbed the back of Serena’s head, biting hard on her lips.
"What the heck? You smeared my lipstick!" Serena complained coquettishly.
"Rose flavored."
Lucas Shaw licked his lips, a satisfied spark in his dark eyes.
Serena’s face instantly blushed, and she glared at him fiercely.
"Who told you to eat it? This stuff has chemicals, it’s poisonous."
Lucas Shaw: "Then don’t wear it anymore."
Serena: "Many chemicals are toxic and can’t be used long term, but occasionally it’s okay."
Serena took out a lipstick from her pocket and began applying it using the car’s mirror.
"I want to make lipsticks that include herbal ingredients in the future, which can nourish the lips without worrying about the burden of long-term application."
Serena nodded silently, thinking more and more that this idea was feasible.
"You know how to make lipstick?" Lucas Shaw asked in surprise.
"What’s so hard about that? I often dabbled with these little things when I was bored in the mountains," Serena said matter-of-factly.
Suddenly thinking of something, she leaned toward Lucas Shaw.
Lucas Shaw, who was driving, saw her approaching from the corner of his eye and couldn’t help but smile helplessly.
"What’s up?"
Serena stared seriously at Lucas Shaw and asked, "Mr. Shaw, do you know why Horizon Group has developed so rapidly?"
"Why?" Lucas Shaw asked curiously.
"Because the easiest money to earn is from women and children. Oh right, and from sick people too."
Serena patiently analyzed, "Horizon Group’s pharmaceutical companies and cosmetic brands are internationally renowned. Their cosmetics and skincare products featuring herbal ingredients minimize side effects..."
To grow and strengthen a company, you must seize the initiative and be different from others. Secondly, you should innovate and create new things.
Horizon Group managed both.
Shaw Group operated large projects like real estate and high-end technology domains.
With the help from these two groups, the GDP of S city had surpassed Imperial Capital, making it the wealthiest city in Corland.
"You know so much about Horizon Group?"
Lucas Shaw tapped his fingers lightly on the steering wheel, thoughtful.
Serena suddenly choked and shrank her neck guiltily, not speaking further.
Seeing this, Lucas Shaw sighed helplessly with a light laugh.
Even if Serena hadn’t said anything, Lucas Shaw had guessed it more or less.
The reason he didn’t expose her was that he wanted to hear it from Serena herself.
He had the patience to wait.
Soon, the car stopped in front of a large shopping mall owned by Shaw Group.
