Chapter 69: Just Kidding
Chapter 69: Just Kidding
The kiss was simple, yet Mira felt as if she were floating on clouds, fireworks exploding in her mind. It was a moment suspended in time, one she would never forget. If there were a better way to describe it, she would have used it, but nothing could tell the way her heart raced or the way her senses heightened. Just then, Zamian pulled away, and the crowd erupted into applause, snapping her back to reality. It was only then that Mira realized they were not alone, and her cheeks flushed a deep pink.
Zamian had specifically instructed the priest not to say the words: "If you don’t want the marriage, say it now or forever hold your peace."
Mira had no idea about this clause, and now the next item on the agenda was bouquet tossing. Her mind was still reeling from the kiss, making it hard to focus on the festivities around her.
Mira stood with the other ladies at the back, all ready to catch the bouquet. Being bad at aiming, she finally closed her eyes and tossed it in their direction. Everyone jumped, but the bouquet flew off in a completely different direction. In a moment of perfect timing, Lily caught it just before it could hit her in the face. The girls began to scream, their voices ringing out in excitement, a cacophony of joy that filled the air.
Lily’s heart raced as she grasped the implication of catching the bouquet. Did this mean she was next in line to get married? She quickly raised her head and turned to Mira, who had just opened her eyes. A wide smile spread across Mira’s face as she stared at Lily, her excitement palpable. The thought of love and commitment, of finding someone to share your life with, filled the atmosphere.
As the day wore on, it was time for Zamian and Mira to leave the festivities. Zamian, who had remained calm throughout the celebrations, finally spoke up, breaking through the noise around them. "My wife is looking stunning today." A smile danced on his lips, and Mira felt her heart skip a beat. It was those small moments that made her feel special, cherished.
She turned her head slightly, heat rising in her cheeks as she stared at his lips. All she could remember was the kiss they had shared moments earlier. It lingered in her mind, a sweet reminder of the bond they were forming. He exited through the front of the church and walked toward the car, the crowd parting for him, their admiration evident.
As they both entered the car which zoomed off. "You too," Mira whispered, her voice barely audible, but Zamian pretended not to hear.
"Me?" he teased, a playful glint in his eye.
"You look handsome," she replied, her confidence growing slightly, emboldened by their shared moment.
Their playful banter was interrupted when the car came to a stop in front of a magnificent mansion. As Mira stepped out, she was greeted by a lady. "This way Mrs. Mira. We’d like to change your clothes," she announced, her tone formal yet welcoming.
Mira’s eyebrows shot up, uncertainty crossing her face. She turned to Zamian, who finally explained, "We’re going for our honeymoon. I thought you might want to change out of your wedding dress since it’s heavy."
"But if you’re okay with this, I don’t mind," he added, a hint of concern in his voice, wanting to make sure she felt comfortable.
Mira felt a mix of emotions swirling within her but ultimately decided it would be fine. "It’s fine," she finally said to Zamian, appreciating his thoughtfulness.
She followed the lady into the building, where the woman helped her slip out of her wedding gown. Mira stared at it for a moment, still in awe of how beautiful it had been. The lady then brought out a light pink maxi skirt paired with a cute matching top. It was a refreshing change, much more comfortable than the heavy gown she had just worn.
As Mira was not used to wearing makeup, the lady gently assisted her in removing it, ensuring that she felt like herself again. After slipping into the new outfit, Mira touched her lips with a bit of lip balm and grabbed a matching pink bag before heading downstairs.
When she reached the car, she found Zamian already seated inside, having changed into his usual attire, which looked more like a business outfit, albeit a more relaxed version.
"Where are we going?" Mira asked as she climbed into the car, her curiosity piqued.
Zamian turned to her, a hint of a smile on his lips. "To the airport."
Mira furrowed her brow, confusion crossing her face. "Why are we leaving?" She felt a flutter of anticipation in her stomach, not quite sure what to expect.
"We are going for our honeymoon," Zamian replied, his eyes twinkling with excitement.
Mira’s cheeks flushed as she processed his words. A honeymoon? They had just gotten married, and now they were going somewhere together. The reality of it filled her with a mix of joy and nerves.
After a silent drive, the car came to a stop, and Mira and Zamian stepped out at the airport. Just then, two ladies arrived, unloading a large box from the back of the car. Mira felt a question bubbling up inside her: What is happening? Why is there a box in the back? She realized she hadn’t packed anything, so she turned to Zamian for answers.
Zamian, already anticipating her thoughts, replied, "Your things are in there. Everything you need is in the box, and anything else you want can be provided for you."
Mira nodded, her curiosity piqued about what they must have packed for her. But she trusted Zamian; he was always two steps ahead.
As they entered the airport, they were handed two tickets and guided to a different exit from the rest of the crowd. Inside that exit, only one airplane awaited them—a sleek black aircraft. Mira’s eyes widened in awe; she had never seen a plane like it before. It looked magnificent yet entirely new to her.
Just then, a lady approached them. "Welcome! Good to see you, Mr. Zamian, and good to see you, Mrs. Mira," she said, smiling as the staff carried their boxes inside.
As they stepped onto the airplane, Mira’s jaw dropped. The interior resembled a luxurious suite rather than a conventional aircraft. There were two beds, including a large king-sized one, complete with all the essentials. In the corner, a door presumably led to a bathroom. Mira had expected to see other passengers; knowing Zamian, she assumed they would be in first class. But this airplane was clearly designed for him alone, meaning it was just her and Zamian on board.
"Oh my," she exclaimed, "just how rich is this man?"
Zamian smiled at her, his eyes glinting with mischief. "Make yourself comfortable." With that, he lay back on the bed, clearly at ease.
Mira turned to him, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and apprehension. She needed to ask, "Are we going to one of your mansions abroad?"
Zamian chuckled, the sound deep and inviting. "No, we are going to my island."
Mira’s words came out as a surprised yell. "You h—have an island?" The revelation took her completely off guard, and she turned to the side, her face reddening. Why had she raised her voice? Maybe because the surprise was overwhelming.
"Mhm," Zamian answered as if it were something entirely normal. He spread his arms invitingly, as if inviting her for a hug on the bed, before he spoke again. "Now come, let’s continue where we stopped."
"What are you saying?" Mira asked, her brow furrowing in confusion.
"Our kiss," he replied playfully, a teasing smile on his face.
"Who knew those innocent lips of yours could be so tempting, huh?" he spoke.
Mira glared at him before she spoke. "Stop saying that."
He smirked, and just then, the flight attendant spoke, "Please make sure you’re seated or lying down properly; the airplane is about to take off."
"Come," Zamian spoke, then continued, "this airplane is one of my more dangerous ones. It’s really risky during takeoff," he said as he spread his hands. Fear flickered in Mira’s eyes, and she quickly climbed onto the bed, hugging Zamian tight. She shut her eyes tightly as the flight took off, her legs wrapping around his waist and her hands clutching his abs.
As the plane came to balance, Zamian bit his lips to suppress a smile. Mira raised her head, glaring at him like an angry cat.
"What? This is not funny at all."
"The plane is safe; I was just kidding," he replied.
Mira’s eyes widened as she pulled her body away from him, her neck red with embarrassment. She turned to the side, clearly annoyed. Did he just deceive her?
"Not funny," she muttered.
Zamian broke into laughter, which only added to her annoyance. Just as she felt his hand on hers, she pulled away.
"Don’t touch me," she snapped.
