Chapter 72: Chapter 72 - Codex of Ancient Remedies

[Name: Baldric Moltenbeard]

[Level: 52]

[Strength: 290 | Agility: 67 | Intelligence: 49 | Constitution: 99 | Stamina: 121]

[Job: Craftsman]

Atlas’ eyes immediately caught at his massive Strength stat, perfectly fitting for a blacksmith. The talents listed alongside it were equally impressive, all tailored to enhance his craftsmanship and combat utility.

[Runeforge Mastery (A) - Eternal Flame Bond (SS) - Molten Resilience (A) - Overheat Surge (B) - Inspirational Craftsman (B) - Braided Flame Glow (B) - Living Anvil (A)]

[Runeforge Mastery: Grants the ability to inscribe powerful runes onto equipment, imbuing them with elemental properties.]

[Eternal Flame Bond: The flames of the forge never extinguish and can be summoned as a fragment to aid in battle or crafting.]

Runeforge Mastery...? Now this was a jackpot.

He knew a bit about runic engraving. An advanced technique that allowed someone to inscribe magical runes onto weapons, armor, or equipment. Not just for decoration, these runes could enhance elemental power, sharpen a weapon’s edge, strengthen armor, or even amplify certain user traits.

The true value was in its customization. Runes could be tailored to match the elemental affinity of the wearer, turning an average item into a powerful, personalized artifact.

The fact that Baldric possessed mastery over this rare craft meant Atlas had just unlocked a system that could potentially push every fighter on his island past their current limits.

He hadn’t expected access to this kind of ability so soon.

And then his gaze settled on a particular talent in Baldric’s status window, Eternal Flame Bond.

"Interesting..." Atlas murmured. "Could this be tied to some kind of unique power source? Is that why his physical form is so massive?"

Whatever the origin, one thing was certain, Baldric possessed an immense affinity for fire. So strong, in fact, it wasn’t just a forging trait, it was a combat strength.

With a build like his and abilities like these, Baldric could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the island’s frontline fighters. Hammer in hand, wrapped in flame, he was a walking forge and a battlefield titan rolled into one.

[Molten Resilience: Naturally absorbs heat, providing immunity to fire damage and allowing the body to temporarily harden like molten rock.]

[Overheat Surge: Enhances speed and strength temporarily when in close proximity to intense heat sources.]

[Inspirational Craftsman: Stories of legendary craftsmanship boost morale and inspire allies to greater effort and determination.]

[Braided Flame Glow: The braided beard glows brighter as anger intensifies, reflecting heightened emotional states.]

[Living Anvil : Exceptional resistance to blunt force makes it incredibly difficult to be knocked down or staggered.]

Then came the rest of the talents: Molten Resilience, Overheat Surge, Living Anvil.

Each one sounded more outrageous, and more impressive, than the last.

"Molten Resilience probably makes him insanely tough," Atlas muttered to himself, imagining Baldric walking through fire unscathed, shrugging off attacks that would level most frontliners.

These were specialized talents, built for survival, for endurance

He wasn’t just a master blacksmith anymore. Baldric was shaping up to be a fortress of a fighter, the kind you could anchor a formation around.

Overheat Surge stood out the most. It hinted at bursts of overwhelming power, triggered under pressure, ideal for turning the tide of a fight when things got desperate.

And then there was Living Anvil, a name that practically screamed unmovable force.

Incredible. Absolutely incredible!

Atlas couldn’t believe his luck. He’d summoned a craftsman... and gotten a one-man siege weapon. And finally, Atlas had his reason to call it a night.

With the discovery of Baldric’s exceptional talents and the sheer value he brought to the team, there was no need to keep chasing luck. The results of tonight’s Gacha Pull session were more than satisfying, they were outstanding.

He had something important he wanted to discuss with Baldric before the night grew too late. A conversation that couldn’t wait.

So, he decided, 30 pulls is enough.

Atlas led Baldric and Edrik into the blacksmith workshop. The heavy door creaking open to release a wave of heat still trapped from the day’s forging. The air smelled of scorched coal, hot iron, and the faint tang of enchantment residue.

He approached the central worktable and carefully placed the Soulbinding Armor Set atop its sturdy surface.

"Oh, ho ho ho... Interesting... very interesting," Baldric rumbled, his eyes gleaming as he leaned in. "To have something like this at such an early phase... My Lord, this is an extraordinary find!"

Atlas stepped back slightly, then summoned the Nightfall Sentinel Armor Set. In an instant, sleek black plates wrapped around his body, etched with glowing veins of radiant blue energy. The light pulsed faintly in the dim room, casting eerie reflections off the nearby tools and walls.

Baldric’s grin widened like a child in a candy store.

"Oh, nice. Very nice! Responsive enchantments, adaptive design, armor that evolves with its user! Now that’s not just blacksmithing, that’s artwork!"

He circled the table, practically buzzing. "The balance of material and mana flow... the core channels are refined, but there’s still room to grow! This set wants to be upgraded. It’s begging for it!"

"There are three sets," Atlas said. "Two are already equipped."

"Ah, I see, I see!" Baldric nodded quickly, examining the structure more closely. "And the grade... Epic? Not bad. Not bad at all. That’s a sturdy foundation we can build on. Trust me!"

Edrik, standing with his arms folded nearby, stepped forward. "Baldric, if we were to acquire higher-grade armor sets in the future, could we convert or upgrade these somehow? Adapt them into something new?"

Baldric rubbed his chin, the sound of his gauntlet brushing his thick beard filling the silence.

"Hmm... it won’t be easy, but.." he gave a firm nod "I’ll look into it. Might take a few prototypes, and some rare materials... but forging’s a craft of possibilities. Nothing’s impossible when you’ve got the right tools and a stubborn enough will. Leave that part to me."

Atlas nodded, satisfied with the exchange.

He then took out the Codex of Ancient Remedies and carefully brought it close to the Soulbinding Armor Set.

"Okay, now with this item, I can decode the blueprint for this armor," Atlas said with a grin.

"HA HA HA! Now that’s what I like to hear! Look at you, My Lord."

A system prompt appeared immediately:

[Activating the Codex of Ancient Remedies.]

[Decoding in progress...]

[0%]

[...]

[53%]

The progress bar moved slower than he had hoped, testing his patience.

Atlas felt his heartbeat quicken, nervous that some unforeseen error might disrupt the process. Losing the chance to decode this rare item would be devastating. It wasn’t every day you pulled something like this from the Gacha.

[98%]

He held his breath, tension coiling in his chest as the final moments stretched out.

[100%]

[Decoding complete.]

[Printing material and crafting method onto the scroll...]

Atlas watched intently as glowing lines and symbols began to dance across the surface of the scroll.

When the final symbol burned into the parchment and faded to a steady glow, Atlas slowly lifted the scroll and studied it in his hands.

His expression shifted.

And then, his face broke into a wide, satisfied smile.
