Chapter 59: Sleeping Face

Yeah, he would expect ’that’, wouldn’t he?

Marcella didn’t say anything. Her experiences with men in the past were not all good. Talking about it is different from doing it. She needs to take that extra step of courage; a leap of faith, to be precise. She needs to prepare herself.

She could only hope Tony would give her a good first experience. He talks big. But is he different from other men?

Tony could see the confusion return to her face. He thought that she was feeling different about him after the hot kiss they shared in the bathroom. But maybe he pushed too far.

"I’ll leave now. By the way, I’ve noted my contact numbers in the diary beside the telephone. You don’t have to travel here and there. If you need something, call me. I’ll make arrangements. Remember, you are not alone in this," he said.

Marcella walked him to the door. "I have the keys. Sleep well," he kissed her cheek.

Marcella nodded with a smile. She locked the door as soon as he left.

She cleaned up the dining table and the kitchen. It didn’t take much time. He had already washed the dishes he used to cook. Only the plates were left.

She went to bed and she couldn’t sleep. She went to the living room and took a look at the diary beside the telephone. She memorized his phone numbers. He had three numbers.

He was right about being in this together. Her sister wanted her to have the baby. At the same time, Andrew trusted Tony enough to leave their baby with him. She should put some faith in Tony regarding the baby.

She is in no position to do everything together. It is only making her exhausted. It’s not wrong to ask for help. It never is easy for her to ask for help but she should learn. She cannot let herself burn out.

She could fall asleep while reading a book. She had a pleasant night. The baby woke up only once at night and she didn’t struggle to make him fall asleep again.

When she woke up it was early morning. She blinked her eyes to see Tony on the bed. He was sleeping like a baby.

Well, she didn’t understand where that phrase came from. Babies don’t sleep that well!

He was sleeping like a log. He was facing her, and she realized that she had pulled most of the duvet and he was not left with much. It was chilly. She quickly covered him properly.

Maybe we should use separate duvets?

She is used to sleeping while hogging everything around her. She had to tell herself each night not to squish the baby. She didn’t think she can get used to sharing a duvet too.

Slowly she noticed the little frown line between his eyes relaxing. His eyelashes were darker than his hair and long with a beautiful curve. There were traces of tiredness around his eyes even though he was sleeping.

He must be working hard.

The baby started to wake up and she picked him up. She didn’t want his cry to disturb Tony. His alarm only had an hour left to ring and she wanted him to sleep peacefully until then.

After feeding and changing the baby, she played with him for some time as he was in no mood to sleep again. She learned some massaging techniques from Rosy and she tried to stretch the little hands and legs of the baby.

Joey did seem to enjoy those little exercises.

"Look at you, big head..." she chuckled.

When stretched, the baby’s hands just reached the top of his head. It was funny to look at. She scratched the baby’s belly and he smiled a little.

"I saw your little smile..." she kissed his belly. "Oh, how round you are..."

She played with the baby for some time. Looking into his big brown eyes, she wondered if he’d remember his mother. He’s too young. But he should know that she was not his mother, right?

She sighed.

Should she tell him the truth? Or should she just raise him as her own?

She had a lot of questions. Thinking about all that stressed her. She put the coffee grind in the coffee maker. She needed coffee. As she walked around the kitchen making preparations for breakfast, the baby fell asleep.

She went to the bedroom to lay the baby down. The alarm rang just as she carefully placed the baby down. She jumped and turned off the alarm as quickly as possible. She didn’t want to wake the baby up.

She sighed seeing the baby sleeping deeply.

Her eyes ended up on Tony. He was rolled in the duvet with only his face visible. He looked like a little worm in its cocoon.

Cute...

She had to hold back her urge to pinch his nose. He was sleeping so deeply. But he set the alarm to wake up. So, he must wake up.

"Tony..." she softly called him. But he was not moving an inch.

"Tony," she increased the volume of her voice a bit and placed her hand on his shoulder.

Still, he was not moving.

"Tony!" she hissed in his ear. "The alarm!" She shook his shoulder as much as she could.

He still was sleeping closely. His eyes were shut and there was no sign of him getting alert.

Dear me! He was not lying when he said he was a heavy sleeper, was he?

Marcella kneeled in front of him with a smile. With his eyes shut and hair messy, he looked like a baby. She could see the resemblance little Joey shared with Tony. The shape of their noses was almost identical.

Andrew really is his brother...

Without knowing, she stared at him for more than five minutes. She shook her head and stood up. She cannot be wasting time here. She needed to prepare breakfast.

She freshened up and prepared the pancake batter. He had quite a lot of syrup stored in his cupboard. She thought he might have acquired a taste for pancakes these days. He used to like waffles more than pancakes in the past.

She went back to the bedroom to check on the baby and to wake him up. What if he sleeps too much when he had to be somewhere for work?

He was still rolled inside the duvet. But he was facing the baby this time. "Tony!" she touched his shoulder.

"Hmm..." he hummed and rolled to his back.

"The alarm rang already. Do you have to~"

As she was speaking, he pulled her by holding her wrist. She ended up over him. Her head was on his chest. She slipped on the silk duvet but he held her tightly and pulled her up holding her around the waist to make sure she was on top of him.

Marcella looked at him. "Tony..."

"What a dream..." he mumbled looking at her face.

He then embraced her tightly. In fact, he held her so tightly, it was hard for her to breathe.

"Tony!" Marcella hissed trying to bring him back to his senses. She didn’t want to shout and wake up the baby. But at the same time, she didn’t think that she would be able to shout with how tight his hold was.

There was a duvet between them both and even through that, she could feel something hard. By the position, she could make a wild guess what that hard thing might be. She felt the same thing last night in the bathroom too.

Why is this thing always up?

While she was bewildered by his anatomy, he pulled her up and she felt his soft lips on her forehead.

Wait...

Marcella moved her head and his lips ended up on the tip of her nose.

What is happening...

She tried to struggle out of his hold. But his hands were around her like a hungry python leaving her no wiggle room. He held her butt with his hands and positioned her to be right on him. Her crotch was on his and she could feel "that" thing right on her...

He moaned as he moved his hips. She looked up and she saw a rather fierce expression on his face. Her heart pounded.

He turned to the side still holding her. Marcella pinched his arm as tightly as she could.

"The baby! Tony! Wake up! You’re going to squish him!"

"Ah!" Tony screamed after she managed to pinch through his strong muscles.

"Wha-" he opened his eyes wide and looked around.

Marcella could slip out of his hold as he was astonished by everything happening around him.

With a sigh, she stood up. Tony was still blinking as he couldn’t figure out what was going on around him.

Marcella rushed out. Closing the bedroom door, she patted her racing chest. She feared that her chest would get burst open by her leaping heart.

What was that about? What was he trying to do?

She rushed to the kitchen and started preparing pancakes. She needed something to do other than think about what happened in that room.
