Flash Marriage: Shrewd Wife, Devious Husband
Chapter 244: The Question

Chapter 244: The Question

"You will pay for this Marcella!" Beth shouted from the other side. "You could have ended this all by letting me spend a day with him but you had to go against me!! You’ll see what I’ll do!!!"

Marcella took the earpiece far away from her ear as Beth was screaming like a banshee.

"Do what you can!" Marcella shouted back and ended the call.

Tony hugged her. "Are you going to tell me at least now?" he asked. He had lost patience. He wanted to end Beth once and for all, just to make his wife this stressed.

"I pulled her up and I am going to push her down. She’s going to..." Marcella got out of his hold and poured herself another glass of wine and gulped it down.

"She is going to the press again and talk about how you passed her around for favors. I have records of every single detail of your agenda for the past ten years; and hers too. We are going to sue her for defamation in court. She is going to lose every penny she has earned."

"That’s it?" Tony asked. He was a little disappointed. Even after seeing what the mob did to her sister, she couldn’t get creative with her enemies. Why couldn’t she leave it with him?

"I know we cannot talk much when the case is going on, but we are going to leak the court case to the public. I am going to go out more. People are going to talk about me. I am going to be the star of the nation—the uncrowned queen, while she gets thrown to the pigs," Marcella said.

Her eyes turned menacing. "Who are the people going to believe? A wife and a mother, or an actress who got famous for playing the mistress?" She scoffed, pouring herself another glass of wine.

"It’s not enough," Tony said. He didn’t think that Marcella was ruthless enough.

"Well, I did use her to keep myself safe," Marcella said.

Even if Beth did it on her own accord and Marcella never talked to her about it, she did manipulate Beth a bit.

Tony was a little convinced. "You have records of everything I did for the past years?" he asked.

He knew she had an eye on him but he didn’t know she maintained records.

"Everything you did, everywhere you went, everyone you met, everywhere you stayed...everything you ate and drank... I have recorded everything. If I didn’t care for you, who else will?" she asked.

She did want to keep records of everything. Who knows when it would be useful?

"You knew... You knew what she was planning all those years ago and that’s why you didn’t want to talk about it," Tony said.

He didn’t think she would have planned to the extent of having a detailed record of his itinerary. She was planning on taking Beth to court from the beginning.

All these years, he thought that she was letting Beth take advantage of her because she considered her a friend, but it was not the case.

He even thought that she didn’t care about him enough and that was the reason she didn’t get jealous. In a way, she scared him. She could hide her hatred well for years. Years!

"All you had to say was "Your friend is coming on to me" and I would have handled it immediately," Marcella said in a blaming tone.

He was not going to tell her the truth so what was the use of him talking about Beth in a roundabout way? She already knew what Beth was up to at that time.

"But you were very protective of her and thought of her as your friend. Apart from Mrs. Butler, she was your only other friend and I thought you might not take it well. I wanted to handle it myself."

"By killing her?" Marcella raised her brows.

"You shouldn’t have saved her," Tony said.

"And what? Bear with the perverted men around you? Or let you kill them and get dragged into scandals?" Marcella asked. "I knew I had some use for her and I used her. Now she is trying to hurt my toes and I am going to squish her head."

While she was talking, she heard someone coming down the stairs. By the soft footfall, she knew it must be their eldest.

"Joey, do you need anything?" Marcella walked out of the kitchen.

Joey stood at the last step holding on to the rail. He was twelve and still looked boyish. He was taller than his peers even though he didn’t look like he would go through puberty any time soon. His blue eyes looked dull as he shifted his eyes.

Tony was still doing something in the kitchen. Marcella walked to Joey and held his hand.

"Joey, do you want to say something to mom?" she asked.

It looked like Joey wanted to ask something. That boy had never asked for anything. Marcella kissed his head. He was not keen on her kissing him as he was not a little boy anymore but he didn’t express his disapproval.

"Come on," Marcella held his hand and brought him to the dining table. "Tell me what it is..." she said gently.

Tony came out from the kitchen with a glass of lemonade and placed it in front of Joey.

"Is this about having your own room, Joey?" Tony asked.

He thought now would be the time he would be open for it. Till now, he sleeps with Nick and Raph. He would want his privacy at this age.

Joey looked at Tony and nodded after thinking for a few seconds. "That too..." he said, wetting his lips.

"Well, we can arrange for that. You can choose which room you want," Marcella said.

She too thought it was about time he had his own room. It’s not like they lack rooms in their house. Joey shared rooms just for his brothers’ sake.

"Here, drink this," Marcella pushed the lemonade to him

Joey looked at the glass and then at Marcella. "Mom, am I not your son? Am I adopted?" Joey asked.

Marcella’s heart skipped a beat and she was lost for words. Tony’s face went pale too.

That came out of nowhere!
