Chapter 205: Pregnancy?

Tony gulped seeing the smile on her face disappear. He heard her and this issue wouldn’t get resolved easily and would take time—time that would give her stress.

After their vacation, she had been stress-free. He tried to keep her stress-free. He came home early and he cooked one meal a day. It would be unnecessary for her to be involved in something stressful like that.

But...

Just then he realized something.

He might be trying to keep her stress-free, but he was actually being a hurdle to her happiness. She loved doing what she did and his sour mood affected her. She was someone who did everything considering him and if he showed his displeasure, she would stop doing what she loved to do.

Either he can explain to her if he wanted her to stop or he can encourage her like he always did. He chose the latter.

Lately, they had a beautiful life. She was still over the clouds after returning and he was taking her to his heart’s content daily.

Daily...? Come to think of it... It has been more than a month since they returned and she didn’t have her period.

Wait... Did she not realize it? Or... is she trying to keep it from me?

She used to get too excited even if she missed her period for one day. How come she said nothing this time?

Tony wondered.

He wanted to ask her but then he stopped himself. If she didn’t talk to him about it, then it meant that she wanted to throw a surprise for him. He decided to pretend to be surprised when she told him.

So, it had happened... I am going to become a father again... This time, my Marcella is going to give me a child!

His heart bubbled with joy.

I hope it’s a girl! We can name her after her mother and my grandmother.

Tony already named his daughter.

"You never do anything wrong," Tony said with a bright smile. "I’m sorry I was dismissive, but, Birdie... Will you make sure you take care of yourself first? I worry you might get too involved..."

Tony decided to voice his concerns too. She can truly make a change and that case was close to her heart. Many times, she had voiced her displeasure in leaving that guy out. Her plan was perfect. It might take some time, but it would be effective. She was smart to come up with that plan.

He knew how much she wanted to be pregnant and she would have thought about it if she had decided to take on that case.

"I’ll be careful," Marcella held his hand. Seeing the smile on his face, she was glad. "I will need your support too, Tony."

"My support is always for you," he said and kissed her hand.

After helping her in cleaning the kitchen, they went to bed. He couldn’t stop smiling to see her belly.

My child is in there...

On the bed, he hugged her closer. She didn’t tell him about her pregnancy still and it made him curious. He wanted to keep his hands and other things to himself, but the scent of her smooth body was too strong to ignore.

He was happy; happiness excites him!

She didn’t fall asleep and leaned on his chest playing with his hair. He kissed her forehead. The feeling of her petite finger on him was titillating. He controlled his beastly urges.

"I am going to make him lose everything, Tony," she said.

"Who?" Tony asked. Her tone was deep as if it was filled with hatred and determination.

"Rourke," she said.

Tony hummed. He didn’t think that she was still thinking about that nonce. "Don’t think about him," he patted her back. "Think happy thoughts..."

"Okay," Marcella nodded.

Tony was right. It’s their bedroom. She shouldn’t be thinking about her work. He wouldn’t bring his work into the bedroom either.

"I talked to my uncle today..." Marcella said. Her lips curved up naturally. "I just wanted to hear my father’s voice..."

Tony kissed her head. "You should talk to your mother’s relatives too."

He wondered if she was thinking only about her father, they might have a boy. That cannot happen. He wanted a daughter. They already had a son.

"I will," Marcella chuckled. "Your cousin called home. He wanted to send us goat cheese."

"Cheese?" Tony raised his brows.

They talked for some time about mundane things before falling asleep. The next day, Tony got up early. Mary came earlier too and he opened a conversation with her, mainly to gather information about Marcella.

"You think she is pregnant," Mary asked understanding the meaning behind Tony’s interrogation.

"Think? Is it not the case?" Tony asked.

"I... " Mary gulped. She didn’t think it was possible.

"She didn’t visit the doctor lately?" he asked. He was sure that she would have visited the doctor after her period missed a day and confirmed the pregnancy.

"No. She doesn’t have any symptoms. She didn’t complain about morning sickness. Did she say anything to you?" Mary asked.

Tony’s heart sank to his stomach.

No symptoms?

He was sure that she didn’t get her period for a long time. Isn’t that enough proof that she was pregnant?

Mary understood what made Tony doubtful. "Sometimes, travel disturbs the cycle and... It could be nothing."

"Oh?" Tony let out a deep breath. To say he was disappointed would be an understatement. His heart clenched in pain.

Mary opened her mouth to say something, but Tony interjected her. "Please, take care of her. Make sure she eats on time and...She should eat healthy..."

Mary nodded. Tony walked upstairs. He entered the bedroom and his heart was filled with gloom. For the first time, he understood what she might have felt each month when she got her period.

He leaned and kissed her forehead. She smiled but didn’t open her eyes. She must be tired.

"I love you, Birdie," he whispered in her ear.

Yes, he was disappointed. But it was fine. Maybe next time...
