Chapter 1253: 1252 Third Party

“Hmm, someone must have tipped off the reporter. She’s a bit cunning—didn’t write about Tongtong, maybe to keep the suspense for tomorrow’s follow-up. She left some mystery at the end.”

“Suspense? Does she think she’s writing a novel?”

Wen Ran threw down the newspaper and took out his phone, “I’ll call Yiyi first to see if she has seen the newspaper. If the reporter got a photo of her and my brother, she must know Yiyi works at the pharmaceutical factory.”

“Mo Xiuchen is coming down.”

Seeing Mo Xiuchen coming down with Xinxin in his arms, An Lin immediately pointed him out to Wen Ran.

“Ranran, what were you talking about just now, still holding the newspaper?”

Mo Xiuchen looked at Wen Ran with a smile as he came down the stairs and walked to the sofa with Xinxin, setting her down before turning back as the nanny was slowly coming down the stairs with Ziyi.

Wen Ran pursed her lips and handed the newspaper to Mo Xiuchen, “Someone leaked information to the press, it says here Yiyi is the third party destroying my brother and Sister Wei’s relationship.”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes flashed with a hint of surprise as he took the newspaper, then he smiled slightly and said, “Ranran, don’t get angry over such things.”

“How can I not be angry? It’s written so nastily.”

Wen Ran fumed.

“First ask Yiyi if she knows about this. If she doesn’t, let her know so she can be mentally prepared. Don’t let her go to work today; I expect reporters will block her at the factory gate.”

“I was thinking the same.”

Comforted by Mo Xiuchen’s words, Wen Ran dialed Bai Yiyi’s number.

The phone rang several times before Bai Yiyi’s voice came through, “Hello, Ranran.”

“Yiyi, are you awake?”

“I’m up.”

“Have you seen today’s newspaper?” Wen Ran sat down between Momo and Xinxin.

“Your brother just came to see me with the newspaper, I already know.”

A flicker of relief passed through Wen Ran’s eyes, easing her worries, “That’s good, I was afraid you wouldn’t know. Yiyi, since you and my brother both know, better not go to work today, take a rest at home.”

“Yeah, I won’t go to work today.”

After hanging up the phone, Wen Ran briefly repeated the conversation. Mo Xiuchen listened and then analyzed calmly, “Definitely, someone told the reporter. That day at the hospital entrance, Fang Zhiwei told she and Ah Kai had already broken up—at that point, the reporter didn’t know about Bai Yiyi’s existence.”

“Later, I and our dad had a word with the media, and that matter wasn’t reported again. After so long, it’s suddenly been brought up again, with photos of Ah Kai and Bai Yiyi. I’ll ask Ah Kai how he plans to handle this and see if he needs any help.”

Mo Xiuchen patted Wen Ran’s shoulder reassuringly, signaling not to worry.

Wen Ran responded with a faint smile, just as she was about to speak, Qin Mu walked in from the entrance.

“I thought I was too early, you all hadn’t woken up.”

Qin Mu walked to the sofa, bent down, and gently touched Ziyi who stood in front of the sofa holding a toy gun.

His gaze turned to An Lin.

An Lin met his gaze, then quickly averted her eyes.

“What newspaper are you looking at?”

Qin Mu saw Mo Xiuchen with the newspaper, in the midst of making a call, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, his eyes conveying a hint of concern as he asked.

Mo Xiuchen handed him the newspaper to see.

**

When Gu Kai received the call from Mo Xiuchen, he had just finished talking to the head of the newspaper and was about to drive away.

“Ah Kai, I saw the newspaper. Just now, Ranran called Bai Yiyi, saying you knew about this. How do you plan to handle it?”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice came over the radio waves, tinged with concern.

Gu Kai rested one hand on the steering wheel and held his phone in the other, his voice slightly deep as it flowed from his thin lips: “I just spoke with the newspaper office, we’re meeting at Century Coffee at 9:30.”

“Are you meeting the reporter who wrote that article?”

“Yes.”

“Alright, I’ll come with you at 9:30. The editor-in-chief still owes me a favor.”

“Right now, there are already reporters waiting at both Kangning Hospital and Pharmaceutical Factory. I don’t want this to blow up, nor do I want to keep hiding it,” Gu Kai reflected for a moment, then added.

On the other end of the phone, Mo Xiuchen let out a low chuckle, “You weren’t planning to hide it anyway, you just hadn’t made it public. This is a good opportunity to let everyone know about Tongtong’s existence and advance your relationship with Bai Yiyi.”

Every issue has two sides.

The pros and cons depend on how one handles them.

Mo Xiuchen is a businessman, and a cunning one at that; he is quite adept at handling these matters.

He and Wen Ran have been the subject of reports not just once, but every scandal eventually becomes a chapter praising his and Wen Ran’s love story.

Gu Kai scoffed at himself, “I’m not you, and Bai Yiyi is not Wen Ran; she doesn’t want to get involved, nor does she want any relationship with me.”

Thinking of Bai Yiyi’s words just now, Gu Kai’s thin lips tightened slightly, feeling somewhat stifled in his chest.

He looked up at the ceiling, his self-mockery receding, he and Bai Yiyi really shouldn’t have any relationship. She dislikes him, and he dislikes her too.

“We’ll talk about it later. If you don’t have surgery this morning, come find me directly at the company later.”

Mo Xiuchen was silent for two seconds on the other end of the phone, then calmly said,

“Okay.”

Gu Kai agreed readily. He had no surgeries scheduled for the morning; he had already called his father and was not going to the hospital this morning.

“How is it, Mo Xiuchen?”

As Mo Xiuchen walked in from the balcony, Wen Ran immediately asked with concern.

Qin Mu and An Lin also turned their attention to Mo Xiuchen.

On the sofa, Momo, Xinxin, and Ziyi were curiously looking at the newspaper with pictures of Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi.

Mo Xiuchen curled his lips, speaking with an air of nonchalance, “Ah Kai has a meeting with the editor-in-chief of the newspaper at 9:30. I will go with him.”

“It seems like the reporter who wrote the article is being sidelined?”

Qin Mu’s eyes narrowed, his tone cold.

Mo Xiuchen nodded, “It looks like it, Ah Kai has decided to make Tongtong’s identity public.”

“It’s better to make it public to avoid misrepresentations next time.”

Wen Ran agreed with making Tongtong’s identity public, she felt that although her brother and Bai Yiyi always argued, her brother’s attitude towards Bai Yiyi was changing.

“Yes, I think so too. Tongtong is already two years old, they knew each other before Fang Zhiwei, just this fact alone can smash the rumors, so there’s really no need to worry.”

“Did that reporter intentionally omit Tongtong to solidify Yiyi’s identity as the other woman?” Wen Ran furrowed her brow, puzzledly asking.

An Lin, who had been silent until now, spoke up, “If that’s the case, then it must be the informer’s idea. Who is this person, so malicious, deliberately making Yiyi the despised other woman?”
