Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Go Home Early, There’s a Surprise (3)
Gotta say, An Mingyuan really nailed it. With his honest looks, he has a natural advantage, making his act of innocence and confusion completely convincing.
So sometimes, we really need to be wary of people who look honest. One slip and their harmless appearance can trick us.
"I’m just speaking from experience. My husband has been acting weird lately, so I’m particularly sensitive and disdainful towards the topic of mistresses. So, you need to treat Ruanruan well, or else..." Suddenly shifting the topic, Li Bao’er said, "An Mingyuan, have you heard about Li Jia’s car accident? It’s such a relief! But the principal got caught up in it too and ended up in the hospital. These days, mistresses rarely come to a good end. Even if they do, it’s an affront to nature, probably bringing harm to the next generation! So one must strive to be a good person. Being a mistress is like being a thief."
"..."
After Li Bao’er’s lengthy speech, An Mingyuan felt uncomfortable but couldn’t find the right words to change the topic, so he chose to remain silent. Mo Tingting, on the other hand, seemed angry and unwilling to endure anymore, yet she still maintained her smile and said, "Sometimes when there’s a problem in a relationship, it’s not just about blaming others. Self-reflection is needed. Often, the problem lies within oneself."
"Miss Mo, you certainly have high emotional intelligence! I wonder if you’re just talking or actually practice self-reflection and self-encouragement regularly. If so, you must be a person of high virtue, no wonder you can forgive a mistress and even beyond. You’re really broad-minded."
Mo Tingting lowered her head, listening to Li Bao’er’s words, her expression unchanged, and she smiled as she changed the subject, "I just remembered I need to make an important call home. You guys continue."
After Mo Tingting left, An Mingyuan continued cutting the meat as if everything was normal. Mi Jing and the others helped out on the side. Once everything was ready, they moved from the kitchen to the living room, and then An Mingyuan called Mo Tingting from her room.
As they ate and drank, Mi Jing, Lulu, and Li Bao’er enjoyed their meal, but Mo Tingting ate very politely, barely picking any dishes. Compared to earlier, she was unusually quiet. An Mingyuan didn’t avoid her, constantly inviting her to not be shy and adding food to her bowl.
"Tingting, this beef is quite good. Give it a try."
Plop—
Before An Mingyuan could put the beef in Mo Tingting’s bowl, Mi Jing already placed her chopsticks on the table, glaring at An Mingyuan with a serious expression, "I have something to say to you. Come to the balcony with me."
Hearing this, An Mingyuan and Mo Tingting were taken aback, while Li Bao’er and Bai Lulu looked at Mi Jing with admiring glances. If the setting allowed, they would have given her a thumbs up because Mi Jing’s commanding presence was impressive!
Mi Jing stood up first, followed silently by An Mingyuan as they walked to the balcony.
"An Mingyuan, what exactly are you thinking?" Mi Jing didn’t look at An Mingyuan. After stopping, she stared at the slightly cloudy sky and calmly asked.
"Are you talking about Tingting? I have nothing with her..."
"I’m not targeting her, nor am I targeting you. Though we are friends, I would never have sought you out if not for Ruanruan, and I wouldn’t be bringing you out now. I clearly understand, whether you marry Ruanruan or not is your business, and I can’t interfere. But Ruanruan has been hurt enough. I must remind you not to push her to the brink with your selfishness. If your feelings for Ruanruan have faded and now you like Mo Tingting, please clearly explain this to Ruanruan and stop playing these ambiguous games. If you’re planning to continue using Ruanruan to care for your family while being with Mo Tingting..."
"Mi Jing, aren’t you overthinking this?" An Mingyuan interrupted Mi Jing, displeased but only showing mild annoyance.
"I hope I am overthinking, but you know the truth best. So I’m warning you, don’t sit on the fence!"
With that, Mi Jing walked past An Mingyuan and out. Seeing that Li Bao’er and Bai Lulu had already finished eating, she picked up her bag and said to them, "Let’s go."
The three left An Mingyuan’s rental house. There was food left uneaten, but Li Bao’er didn’t pack it up as she originally planned. It wasn’t that she forgot, but she felt that even if left there, they might not have the appetite to eat it, making them uncomfortable would be just fine!
Sitting in the car, the more Li Bao’er thought, the angrier she got, so she started complaining, "I can’t believe Ruanruan is okay with An Mingyuan blatantly bringing that Miss Mo home!"
"Yes! If it were me, I would’ve broken up with him long ago. Delaying marriage while living with another woman, it’s too much!" Bai Lulu chimed in, aggrieved.
"..."
But Mi Jing remained silent, focused on driving, seemingly not hearing their conversation. Li Bao’er and Bai Lulu expected her to join in the outburst, but unexpectedly, she didn’t react.
"Jing, shouldn’t you say something too?" Bai Lulu asked.
"This is Ruanruan’s decision to make. I respect whatever she decides." Mi Jing quietly answered, her eyes serene.
Hearing this, Li Bao’er and Bai Lulu exchanged looks, then both took out their phones, one reading a novel, the other playing a game, dropping the subject.
Actually, they knew, Mi Jing understood Ruan Pianran the best. Even though they were also close to her, Ruan Pianran was a quiet person, rarely mentioning her family or past. Their knowledge of her was limited, always relying on Mi Jing for insight regarding matters involving her.
Returning to the coffee shop, Mi Jing went straight to the balcony, but instead of drawing, she lay on the sofa, staring blankly.
After leaving An Mingyuan’s house, Mi Jing suddenly comprehended some things and understood Ruan Pianran better. Indeed, women’s intuition is usually accurate, especially for someone as sensitive and observant as Ruanruan. She couldn’t possibly miss what she and Li Bao’er could see. She chose not to mind because she had been with An Mingyuan for too long, and their past love ran deep. Losing this relationship could hurt a hundred times more than Mingyuan’s betrayal. So, until she was completely disillusioned, she couldn’t let go. Therefore, Mi Jing felt a deep sorrow for her friend and a bit of unease.
