Chapter 170: Chapter 170: The Thoughts of Three People (3)
"Even if you can handle your liquor, no white liquor for you. You have work tomorrow!" Mi Jing objected. She knew that Han Bin could also drink a lot. He was the type who wouldn’t stop until everyone else was drunk before he was satisfied. An absolute handful!
"What? Feeling sorry for him? It’s just a little white liquor. You don’t need to get so worked up about it. It’s not like I’m pushing him into a pit of fire." Han Bin glanced at Mi Jing, complaining coldly.
"What do you know?" Mi Jing rolled her eyes at Han Bin and said, "He’s a doctor, not suitable for heavy drinking!"
"Hmm, very nice, like a virtuous wife." Han Bin looked at the mildly angry and aggrieved Mi Jing and suddenly smiled. However, his smile carried no warmth or joy, only a hint of sarcasm and coldness. Then he added, "Can you change your habit of always thinking about others? It’s pointless worrying constantly!"
Upon hearing this, Mi Jing almost exploded with rage. She stood up abruptly, her face turning ashen, and glared at Han Bin, gritting her teeth. "Han Bin, are we going to continue this meal or not?" She had brought Shen Lingxing here happily, even though he chose this unremarkable place. That was forgivable. But he had to act as if they were scamming him out of money. Luckily, Shen Lingxing had a good temper and didn’t argue with him. But the more they tolerated Han Bin, the more he pushed his boundaries. It was infuriating!
"Ha, finally showing your true colors. Aren’t you afraid of scaring your husband away with that fierceness?" Han Bin’s tone became less sarcastic, more teasing. His smile, enchanting and mischievous, could charm anyone, looking like a mythical demon.
He had mid-length, beautifully dyed light brown hair, tied into a casual ponytail at the back. His somewhat androgynous appearance didn’t come off as effeminate at all. While Shen Lingxing had a refined and otherworldly look, Han Bin was a different kind of handsome. He had the wildness of an artist, the nonchalance of a rich scion, and a seductive, charming air. A slight smile from him could melt many girls’ hearts. Of course, Mi Jing was an exception since they had known each other for so long. She was immune to his charms.
"You don’t have to worry about that. My husband not only has a good temper and good taste, but he also knows how to appreciate me. Even when I’m fierce, he thinks I’m cute!" Seeing Han Bin finally return to normal, Mi Jing sat down. Then she held Shen Lingxing’s arm and asked coquettishly, "Hubby, I’m right, aren’t I?"
"Hmm, the latter part is true." Shen Lingxing didn’t enjoy self-promotion, so he simply smiled and confirmed part of what Mi Jing said.
With Shen Lingxing’s affirmation, Mi Jing proudly raised an eyebrow at Han Bin, only to be met with his disdainful eye roll.
The atmosphere finally eased up. They ordered food, and despite Mi Jing’s protests, Han Bin stubbornly ordered a few bottles of Erguotou, insisting that this was the first time meeting Shen Lingxing, and white liquor was necessary for sincerity and impact. It made Mi Jing want to roll her eyes.
If he were truly sincere, would he invite them to eat here? What a hypocrite!
"What’s with the pout?" Noticing Mi Jing’s displeased expression, Han Bin pointed it out directly, asking despite knowing the answer.
"Isn’t it obvious? Someone is really annoying!" Mi Jing didn’t spare Han Bin any face, speaking with sarcasm.
"Oh, tell me then, how is someone annoying you?"
"Stingy, miserly, perverted, and occasionally insane. In short, seriously ill. If not treated soon, it might become incurable!"
The two bickered back and forth until the food was served, at which point they quieted down.
"The cured meat here is quite good. Try it." Dismissing Han Bin, Mi Jing immediately forgot about him and attentively served Shen Lingxing.
Having been ignored for a while, Shen Lingxing’s dark eyes finally brightened up with a smile.
Seeing the sweet interaction between the couple across from him, Han Bin lost his appetite and, after a few bites, put down his chopsticks.
"Why aren’t you eating? The food is great!" Noticing Han Bin had stopped eating, Mi Jing casually asked.
"If it’s good, eat more. Don’t be polite with me!"
"Ha!" Mi Jing suddenly laughed out loud and said, "Polite in this place? Am I out of my mind?"
"What’s wrong with this place? Sure, it’s not as luxurious or comfortable as a Western restaurant, but at least the food’s flavor can rival any Western dish," Han Bin said.
"Alright, I’ll pretend I didn’t say anything."
Enjoying her meal, Mi Jing decided not to waste words on Han Bin. She lowered her head and continued eating without looking at him.
Since entering, it had mostly been Mi Jing and Han Bin talking, with Shen Lingxing only speaking when addressed.
Eating leisurely, suddenly, Shen Lingxing saw a hand reach into his view and grab the cup in front of him.
Looking up, he saw Han Bin holding the cup in one hand and pouring liquor with the other.
"Well, brother-in-law, let me toast you!" After handing the cup back to Shen Lingxing, Han Bin raised his own cup, saying the words with a mix of difficulty and solemnity. When Mi Jing heard this, she paused in surprise.
This sudden change was a bit odd!
He had just been cold to Shen Lingxing, and after a few drinks, he started calling him brother-in-law?
After the surprise, Mi Jing was delighted, beaming brightly. Raising her empty cup, she shouted, "Include me, I want to drink with you guys!"
"Get lost!" Han Bin frowned and scolded, "We men are drinking. What’s the point of a woman joining in?"
"Hey, Han Bin, why have you become so annoying!" Mi Jing glared at Han Bin, thinking of turning to Shen Lingxing for comfort, but when she glanced at his handsome face, he spoke first, "You need to drive later. For safety’s sake, you can’t drink."
Splash!
A bucket of cold water doused her enthusiasm. Mi Jing’s high spirits were immediately dampened. Pouting, she sulkily poked at the rice in her bowl with her chopsticks.
Clink—
The two cups clinked together, making a crisp sound. Then both men tilted their heads back and emptied their cups of white liquor.
Setting down his cup, Han Bin poured himself another drink and this time turned his attention to Mi Jing. Noticing her glum face, he gently called, "Jingjing."
