Chapter 778: Chapter 765 Little Zheng Ge “Changes His Ways
Zhao Zheng was momentarily startled when he saw Yue Feng so serious and solemn for the first time since they had met. Yue Feng’s usual demeanor was calm, relaxed, and composed.
But he quickly understood what Yue Feng was trying to convey.
“Don’t worry! Although I might slack off normally, I can still tell what’s important! Today, in front of the kid, I promise you that on the matter of fishing, I’ll give it my all with full enthusiasm and effort! I absolutely won’t let you down!” Zhao Zheng said, patting his chest.
Seeing Zhao Zheng making a promise, Yue Feng nodded, “Alright! Then the spot on the team is yours! It will take about a week or so before the club preparations show some preliminary results. During this time, let’s settle down first! Once the new recruits from the selection come in, we’ll start intensive training together!”
“It’s a deal!” Zhao Zheng nodded emphatically.
The rest of the time became much more relaxed. At noon, they had a sumptuous welcome meal at the store, and after eating their fill, the kid drove the two slightly intoxicated men to the Department Store.
Having come to rely on Yue Feng with nothing but his bare hands, there were quite a few necessities needed for long-term living. Yue Feng helped him buy several sets of seasonal clothing, new bed sheets, duvet covers, personal items, and finally, they stopped at the Apple store to get Zhao Zheng a new SIM card and a latest model iPhone.
By mid-afternoon, after a round of shopping with Yue Feng, almost twenty thousand yuan had been spent, plus the deposit and rent for a two-bedroom apartment found through an agent, which was another twenty thousand plus.
After everything was set up, Yue Feng gave Zhao Zheng a bank card with ten thousand yuan in it, as temporary living expenses.
Without having done anything, more than fifty thousand yuan had been spent! But Yue Feng didn’t even blink an eye at the expense.
The next afternoon, Zhao Zheng moved into his new place. As he was leaving, Yue Feng casually tossed his car keys to him.
Zhao Zheng glanced at the Lexus SUV key and frowned slightly, “Damn, you’re giving me the car to use, what will you drive?”
Yue Feng grimaced, “I hardly need a car if I’m not going out. There’s another car at the store for everyday use. Take this one! Zhao Sir can’t lose face wherever he goes!”
Although it started as a jest, Zhao Zheng responded with a grimace, “I’ll drive your Nissan instead! I can’t afford this gas guzzler right now!”
Yue Feng shook his head, “There’s a gas card in the glove box; use it as you please! We’re brothers, let’s skip the nonsense. But a reminder for you, huh?”
In a few days, the intensive training will start. This morning I heard from Manager Niu that the club’s site is already secured, and the backyard’s Practice Pole Pond has started construction. You won’t have many days of peace left to enjoy!
If I were you, I wouldn’t idle around these next few days. I’d go warm up at the Practice Pole Pond to get back in form. Once the intensive training starts, you’re expected to excel and stand out! Otherwise, even if I pull strings to get you into the club, you won’t have everyone’s respect, and people will talk behind your back!”
Hearing Yue Feng, Zhao Zheng nodded, “You’re right. I’ll head to the shop and pick up some gear, then go to Star Moon Lake for some practice!”
Yue Feng flashed a grin, “No need to do it later. I’ve got your gear all set up in the trunk! Top quality stuff! Well, you stay put, I need to head back to the company!”
Zhao Zheng reflexively opened the trunk of the car and nearly knocked himself out against the rear bumper.
In the trunk, there was a fishing box, a trolley case, a rod bag, fishing rods, landing nets, fish guards, bait, medicines, small accessories, pre-tied full boxes of line groups, and a complete set of fishing equipment—all that one could possibly need!
Seeing Yue Feng wave his hand and get into a taxi, Zhao Zheng couldn’t help but curse from behind, “Fuck, Feng, you’re too damn inhumane! I’m a guest from far away, and you plan to keep me busy all day long!”
Yue Feng didn’t say a word, just stuck his arm out of the car window to wave, then flipped Zhao Zheng an ostentatious middle finger and drove off.
Although Zhao Zheng normally acted carelessly and nonsensically, he was pretty reliable when it came to serious matters. After bumming a meal at Yue Feng’s shop that evening, bright and early the next day, he drove his SUV, equipped with a full set of gear, to Star Moon Lake’s Practice Pole Pond.
In mid-August, the weather was at its hottest of the year, and hardly any anglers came to play at Star Moon Lake during the daytime.
Zhao Zheng didn’t care one bit about the brutal sun scorching his forehead. He set up his fishing umbrella, donned his sunscreen clothing, and, after getting his equipment and bait ready, started to focus intently on practicing his casting, soon losing himself completely in it.
The owner of Star Moon Lake, Ge Xiufeng, known in the angling world as Ge ErDan, had been running this Practice Pole Pond for many years. He had seen many hardcore anglers from around the city of W, but there were not many like Zhao Zheng.
Looking at the car, it was a large imported SUV worth over a million—a this year’s new model!
Looking at the gear, it was all top-end stuff, but Ge didn’t recognize the man practicing under the sun.
After making a round of phone calls to friends and tracking down some leads through the license plate number, they finally learned that this car was a new ride bought by the Fishing King, Yue Feng, but they didn’t know why it was driven by an unfamiliar young and handsome guy who came to practice every day.
In the following days, Zhao Zheng truly entered the zone. He would arrive at the fishing grounds as soon as they opened in the morning, go out for lunch, rest a bit, and then continue practicing from two o’clock in the afternoon—more punctual than a job, treating practice as serious business!
While Zhao Zheng was engrossed in intensely practicing his skills, the club’s construction progressed steadily.
In just five days, the company’s offline agents had held over twenty selection competitions in the best-performing areas, and a total of 23 anglers earned their spots for special training, officially coming under the radar of Yue Feng and Manager Niu.
A week later, the preliminary preparations for Yuefeng Fishing Tackle’s club were almost complete, and the anglers who had won competition spots and were interested in training for a professional career had arrived at the newly established Yuefeng Fishing Club.
The club was located in a three-story building on the edge of a village within the old urban area. It was originally a retirement home owned by the village collective, but after the new planning and consolidation, it was vacated. Later, rumors of demolition meant nobody was willing to take over, and for various reasons, it was left temporarily abandoned. Through a friend, Liu Fengnian managed to rent the sizeable courtyard and its annex buildings at an extremely low price.
After the renovation and construction, the club’s premises featured an activity room and dormitory rooms for the team members within the small building. All the commonly used furniture was newly purchased, the walls were freshly wallpapered, and although it looked somewhat old, the advantage was its spaciousness and cleanliness.
Behind the small building, there was a vast open space. Soon after the contract was signed, Liu Fengnian arranged for professional construction and renovation of the area, digging out two pits for practicing poles—15 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 2 meters deep.
After a period of intensive construction, the water storage work was completed. In another two or three days, once the water quality was maintained properly, the fish could be added, and training could commence.
