Chapter 773: Chapter 760: Gu Qingtian Returns to China
Back at camp, Yue Feng recorded a brief video to explain the situation to his fans. Then, he was taken to the infirmary where he endured another round of fuss.
Suffering from his heroic injury, he lost his appetite despite having so many fresh fish available. At night, he tasted the freshest Yellow Croaker and Sablefish, and spitefully gnawed on a large chunk of flounder flesh, which finally eased his gloomy mood a bit.
With his arm injured, his planned fishing expedition was essentially complete. The next morning, Yue Feng’s arm condition had gradually stabilized. After bidding farewell to his new friends at the camp, Uncle Victor accompanied him. They took turns with a helicopter and a cross-country vehicle to send Yue Feng and the child onto a domestic flight!
Xiong Da, who was rescued, stayed at Uncle Victor’s camp. Yue Feng and the child merely brought along some Russian specialties and returned home.
The nine-day trip to Russia left Yue Feng feeling somewhat unreal, but the bruise on his shoulder and the vast amount of footage from his equipment were all too real.
Waking up from his sleep, the plane had already landed at the Capital International Airport. The child woke Yue Feng up to take care of luggage and other transfer procedures.
According to Yue Feng and the child’s plan, they weren’t intending to stay in the Capital but were planning to catch the earliest flight back to W city.
Yet, as soon as they got off the plane and collected their luggage, Yue Feng saw a large sign with his name written on it at the exit.
Someone picking them up? What’s going on?
It’s possible that Yue Feng is a common name, but the pickup sign had both Yue Feng and the child’s names on it. The likelihood of that being a coincidence was virtually zero.
“Hey, Fengfeng, look, it seems someone’s here to pick us up. Is it your friend?” the child also noticed the conspicuous cardboard.
Yue Feng shook his head, “I don’t know. We shouldn’t have anyone picking us up, and we weren’t planning on staying in the Capital either. Let’s go ask!”
Soon enough, Yue Feng and the child approached the person holding the pickup sign.
The man clearly recognized Yue Feng. After catching a clear glimpse of his face, he strode over to them.
“Hello, Teacher Yue Feng! This must be Miss Wawa, right? Hello to you both!”
“Uh, dude, who asked you to pick us up? We don’t seem to have scheduled any itinerary in Beijing!” Yue Feng asked politely with a slight frown.
“My boss arranged for me to come! He seems to have sent you an email! By the way, my boss is Gu Qingtian! We met in Palau too! My surname is Zhu, Zhu Ming!” Zhu Ming introduced himself, followed by an explanation.
Upon hearing Gu Qingtian’s and Palau’s names, Yue Feng quickly remembered, recognizing that he indeed had met this man and had a faint impression of him.
“Did Brother Gu return to the country?” Yue Feng asked, very surprised.
“Yes, he is back for a while! My boss wasn’t sure about your travel schedule, so he sent me to pick you up at the airport! I don’t know the specifics though!” Zhu Ming said.
Before Yue Feng could respond, Wawa gently tugged at the hem of Yue Feng’s shirt.
Back in Palau, Gu Qingtian had mentioned that he couldn’t return to his country because he was taking the fall for the big boss—something Wawa also knew about. She was reminding Yue Feng to be cautious.
Yue Feng nodded, “Let me check my emails first. I haven’t been monitoring my inbox while in the remote areas of Russia! Wait a moment!”
“Okay!” Zhu Ming nodded.
Opening his email, holy smokes, there were over a hundred unread messages! Yue Feng skimmed through them hastily, with most being various media and organizational partnership invitations. Amidst the pile of emails, Yue Feng found Gu Qingtian’s message.
The email was quite straightforward, mentioning that the previous issues had been resolved due to a change of leadership at the top. Gu Qingtian was already back in the Capital and would send someone to pick up Yue Feng and the child. They were to stay briefly in Beijing, and there was also a collaboration that needed to be discussed in person!
Seeing that a new cell phone number had been left in his mailbox, Yue Feng pulled out his phone and dialed it right away.
The call rang for over ten chimes before being picked up, and a robust voice came through from the other end.
“Hello? Did you just get off the plane? This is Gu Qingtian!”
“Brother Gu, it’s me, Yue Feng! Just landed and saw the people picking me up! Where are you? I’ll come over to join you!”
“Get in Zhu’s car; he knows where I live. We’ll talk more once you get here!” Gu Qingtian was still as brief as ever in his speech.
“Okay!” Yue Feng agreed without hesitation.
If it had been anyone else, Yue Feng might have needed to think it over, but with Gu Qingtian, Yue Feng felt no need for hesitation. After all, Brother Gu had been good to him. Aside from being warmly hospitable in Palau, he had also introduced Yue Feng to an international big shot like Lawrence as a friend! Now that he was back in the Country, it was only proper to meet.
Having changed his ticket back to W city, the three of them, along with a pile of luggage and equipment, got on a Toyota Alphard. Zhu drove with Yue Feng and the kid, heading straight for Gu Qingtian’s residence.
He had thought it wouldn’t take long to get there, but the drive stretched on for hours, from a little past nine in the morning until after twelve noon, before they finally pulled up in front of a huge courtyard entrance in Yanjiao.
“Brother Gu lives here?” Yue Feng was a bit puzzled.
“Yeah, this is one of my boss’s properties in Yanjiao. Let me lead you all inside!”
Zhu honked the car horn, and soon the gate opened. The car drove straight into the courtyard, and Gu Qingtian emerged from the main house’s entrance.
The courtyard was vast, built in a completely traditional Chinese style, easily several hundred square meters large. Even in Yanjiao, this place was definitely considered a mansion.
“Hi Brother Gu!” the kid greeted politely.
“Haha, hi kids! I’ve been waiting for you guys! Come on, inside the house!”
Gu Qingtian appeared almost unchanged from last year, his face sporting an easygoing smile. He walked over to Yue Feng and casually slapped him on the shoulder.
“Ouch!” Yue Feng winced in pain from his shoulder and couldn’t help but cry out.
“Ah, shoot, I forgot! I forgot about your arm injury from yesterday! Is it serious? If it’s bad, I’ll take you to see a doctor. You can’t trust those Russian medics!” Gu Qingtian wiped his forehead, slightly annoyed at his own carelessness.
Yue Feng shook his head: “It’s nothing, just a bruise on my arm! Brother Gu, did you watch my livestream too?”
Gu Qingtian nodded: “Of course I watched. I’ve been back in the country for over half a month now, and whenever I’m free, I hop onto the livestreaming platform. I’ve even got myself to Second Level on your fan badge in your livestream room!
You’re doing really well for yourself, kiddo, getting on the trending searches twice in such a short time. I didn’t expect the livestreaming industry here to have grown so quickly, and you now have several million followers!
Come in, let’s eat first, and then we can talk. The food’s been reheated twice waiting for you two!”
“Okay!”
The living room was just beyond the entrance, and the kitchen was right next to it. The dining table was laid with a full spread of dishes, not a single one touched, clearly waiting for Yue Feng.
Yue Feng was never too ceremonies in Palau, and back in the country, he was just the same. He went straight to wash his hands, then sat down at the table with the kid.
Including Zhu, there were four people in total. With the table filled with dishes, Gu Qingtian opened up the conversation.
