Fishing Livestream
Chapter 493 - 493 480 008 Sub-line Zhongda Fish

493: Chapter 480: 0.08# Sub-line Zhongda Fish 493: Chapter 480: 0.08# Sub-line Zhongda Fish “Damn, I never thought I’d use 0.3 sub-line in my life, let alone fish for mixed breeds with 0.08 fishing line?

Yue Feng is a monster, to still catch four and only lose one?”

“My mom asked me why I was kneeling and watching my phone, I told her I was watching Brother Feng’s fishing live stream!”

“I’m totally bowled over +1, there really are masters in the fishing community!

Who says it’s all about luck!”

Tiantian was also a bit stuck, thinking she was seeing things.

She rubbed her eyes and confirmed that it was indeed 0.08#.

Tiantian: “Wow, did you guys notice?

Brother Feng was using 0.08# line.

No wonder he cut off a pair of hooks just now.

If it were me, I might not even catch one out of ten!

It’s so extreme!”

Both live streams were full of admiration, but Han Luofeng was not having much luck.

At lunch, the data feedback seemed like a curse on Han, distracting him.

His mind was full of Yue Feng’s catch of 738 fish.

Han was lucky to draw an angling spot next to the oxygen machine, but it was useless, as he didn’t get a single bite from start to finish.

In contrast to Yue Feng’s extreme line setup in search of potential breathing spots, Han used another extreme strategy.

He switched to a size three new Kanto hook!

Seeing this, some might think he was aiming for big fish?

No, he was no longer planning to fish normally.

Switching to a larger hook had one purpose: to increase casting frequency and rely on luck to snag fish!

In extreme fishing conditions, using a larger hook is also a competitive strategy.

The rules don’t allow malicious snagging, but it’s hard to define such actions definitively; no one can claim that all hooks only catch fish by the mouth.

In such extreme conditions, it’s common and effective for seasoned anglers to switch to larger hooks for snagging.

The effort paid off.

After about ten minutes of casting, Han hit a fish that bumped the line, and he crisply struck with the rod.

He hooked it, and the fish wasn’t very large, but it struggled fiercely.

The moment he hooked the fish, it bolted out, nearly escaping.

The rapid movement caused the line to sing.

Han’s heart leapt, thinking he had snagged a big carp, and he carefully controlled the rod as he applied force.

But when he lifted the rod, he was stunned to see the fish.

A carp of about four ounces, hooked at the base of its tail.

Even with such a small fish, Han was very cautious, unhooking it and taking it in hand, finally feeling a bit relieved.

At least having a fish meant he wasn’t coming up empty, and he was already doing better than more than half the competitors.

Yue Feng turned around and fished for a while, then returned to his old fishing spot, sending down a new line which accurately met with the spot directly in front of him.

The bobber slowly turned and sank steadily, stabilizing at three and a half targets.

Right then, suddenly, four or five evenly-sized bean-sized bubbles surfaced.

Yue Feng saw the bubbles and narrowed his eyes slightly.

“Damn, did a carp come into the spot?”

As mentioned before, when fish are active underwater, bubbles surface, and different species produce different bubbles.

Crucian carp mostly create what are called ‘fish stars’, releasing tiny bubbles that burst before reaching the surface, appearing scattered like stars.

Even if bubbles do form, they are relatively small.

Carp, however, typically produce evenly-sized bubbles,

Grass Carp and Blueback Fish often produce one large bubble accompanied by a few smaller bubbles.

As for Silver Carp, it creates a dense cluster of fine foam.

The situation now, with four or five evenly sized fish bubbles in a row, looked very much like a larger Carp had entered the nest.

Upon seeing the fish bubbles, Yue Feng didn’t think too much, slowly lifted the rod to bring the line assembly above the water, and quickly adjusted the float to its standard bottom fishing position.

He tossed two small bait balls, each the size of a bean, into the water.

The small Carp usually hardly bite, and a bigger fish would presumably have even less appetite.

Yue Feng cast his rod without much thought.

The bean-sized bait balls were quite heavy, which significantly increased the descent speed of the float.

The larger bait meant the float’s fishing mark was also affected, standing over one mark shorter than the normal bottom fishing line.

Seeing this, Yue Feng knew he had reached the bottom!

He didn’t see any action during the descent or after reaching the bottom.

Thinking it unlikely, he habitually jiggled the tip of the rod, teasing another cast down.

It was this flick that caused the float to snap noticeably, and the remaining less than two marks of the float submerged completely.

Caught off guard by the bite, Yue Feng didn’t even perform the usual wrist-flicking hooking motion but gently stood the rod up.

The force from the fish below, transmitted through the line and rod to his hand, confirmed to Yue Feng that he had hooked something big!

With a 0.08# leader line catching a big fish, even Yue Feng himself felt it was somewhat surreal!

This was pushing the limits of catching big fish with a small hook and a fine line!

If the fish made even a slightly stronger move, it would definitely escape.

As the rod began to bow, Yue Feng’s heart raced.

He knelt down very carefully, daring not to make any movement, fearful that the fish might get startled and flee.

Luckily, the fish underwater seemed only slightly uncomfortable and didn’t detect the source of its discomfort.

It paused for half a second in the water before slowly starting to swim.

Feeling the fish’s movements, Yue Feng, with his right hand gripping the rod and his left hand’s back resting on the handle joint, carefully sensed the direction of the fish’s force.

The core of catching big fish with small hooks and fine lines lies in guiding the fish’s movements without alarming it, but how to effectively guide with such fine line?

The direction of the force exerted by the rod must be as perpendicular as possible to the direction of the fish’s movement!

It’s akin to leading an ox at a ninety-degree angle.

At this angle, the force exerted is minimal but most effective, requiring constant adjustments to maintain.

Initially, when Yue Feng hooked the fish, people in the livestream didn’t notice anything unusual since even with a fish over half a pound they would be very careful.

However, after a few rounds, they realized something was off.

“Something’s not right, has he hooked a big one?

Why several rounds back and forth and it still hasn’t surfaced!”

“0.08 leader line catching big fish?

That feels a bit unrealistic to me!

Can’t be pulled up, right?

I can accept up to around a pound, but how could several pounds of fish be caught!”

“I also think it’s a big fish, did anyone notice a detail just now?

This time Brother Feng made a bigger bait ball and even deliberately adjusted the float before casting!”

“Damn, that’s right.

If he encountered something big underwater, it’s very possible!”

“He must bring it up.

If he lands this fish, then this afternoon’s competition should be in the bag!”

After several rounds of controlling the fish, Yue Feng again entered that peculiar state.

All distractions from his surroundings seemed to disappear, leaving only the fish in the water and the rod in his hands in Yue Feng’s vision.

As the fish swam, the angle of force on the rod subtly changed and, if observed closely, one would notice Yue Feng making slight adjustments to maintain that crucial ninety-degree angle.

Every turn the fish made in the water was a risk!

The line set was thin and easily fatigued under prolonged tension; thankfully, it was a high-tech product.

If it had been regular nylon fishing line, even with flawless technique, the fish would likely have escaped.

After more than ten minutes of fighting, the fish finally surfaced.
