First-Year Internship—And You Went to Site 749 to Contain Monsters?! -
Chapter 299: Soul-Reaping Gale, One More Guest on the Viewing Platform
...
Too bad Yan Feifan wasn’t here.
Otherwise, he’d definitely ask—
“Brother Lu, when did you make your name?”
Lu Ding would’ve replied—
“Today!”
BANG!!!
The ground cracked beneath Lu Ding’s step.
The soul-reaping gale and blood rain surged forward with his graceful, powerful form.
Everywhere it swept, the earth turned into a bloody swamp.A Si Ming Realm expert from Zhupo Kingdom blocked the path.
Lu Ding raised his blade.
Slash!!!
With Path of Jinche boosting his strength, razor-sharp blade energy carved through.
Figures were instantly torn apart, limbs flying, blood spraying.
Blood rain washed the scattered flesh.
The soul-reaping gale gathered the souls fallen beneath the blade.
Congratulations—one more guest had joined the viewing platform.
Next up: a Divine Palace Realm cultivator from Zhenla.
Lu Ding charged in head-on, left arm forward, using his arm armor as a shield.
BAM!!!
A blade at the elbow slashed through flesh.
The target was torn to pieces—shattered on impact.
A pure display of overwhelming physical power.
Violence, too, was a form of aesthetic.
Lu Ding didn’t know any blade techniques,
but Oneness with Heaven and Man gave him terrifying comprehension,
and White Snake Scale-Shake gave him perfect control over his physical body.
With both in effect—
Lu Ding simply swung his blade.
Slash! Slash!! SLASH!!!
He left the rest to incomprehensible intuition
and power beyond human standards.
It was a scene of unrivaled carnage.
The audience of drifting souls in the sky gained new members, one after another,
mindless and dazed—
yet still following Lu Ding.
This, too, was a form of performance.
Lu Ding called it: Chinese-style horror.
One man slaughtering.
A crowd of “people” watching.
Up ahead in battle—
Three Earth Observer Realm cultivators were besieging a 749 Investigator unfamiliar to Lu Ding.
He figured it was likely a Great Han powerhouse sent to maintain order.
Among the attackers, Lu Ding recognized Du Dong—father of Du Yongchun.
Since he had killed the son—
How could Lu Ding let the father live? That would just leave trouble for later.
If you don’t pull the root, the weeds grow again in spring.
Others cut downwards—Lu Ding cut upwards.
He stood still.
Eyes locked forward. He didn’t move—then suddenly raised his hand.
A Si Ming Realm enemy had rushed in from the side.
Lu Ding struck first, grabbed the man’s head.
A flash of dark red gathered in his hand.
The Si Ming Realm cultivator’s eyes went wide in terror.
At point-blank range—
Qi-Devouring Death Ray blasted his skull apart.
From beginning to end, Lu Ding never even glanced at the man.
His gaze never left the front.
There, Du Dong—along with several other Earth Observer cultivators—was bombarding the Great Han expert.
While spouting useless chatter:
“Dan Hanlu!!”
“We have no grudge with you, and today’s mess has nothing to do with us! The Heaven Observer Realms are the ones driving this whole battle!”
“They’re the deciding factor—not us! So why fight to the death?”
“Let’s just drop it. We’ve already exchanged blows—what do you say?”
While saying this, Du Dong scanned the battlefield with sharp eyes, searching for Lu Ding.
When he looked in Lu Ding’s direction—Lu Ding smiled, vanished on the spot.
Du Dong’s gaze hit empty air.
He frowned, wondering, “Where did Lu Ding go?”
A son’s death couldn’t go unavenged.
But Dan Hanlu kept interfering,
preventing Du Dong from locking in on Lu Ding earlier.
It frustrated him deeply.
He didn’t want to waste time tangling with this woman anymore.
All he wanted was to find Lu Ding quickly—
preferably mid-battle—
to strike with full force and kill the one who left his son in pieces.
Dan Hanlu dragged her hooked-blade spear behind her.
She was about to speak instinctively—
But then, she looked ahead.
There—some distance behind the three attackers—Lu Ding appeared.
He had just pierced a Si Ming Realm cultivator through the heart.
Then he looked toward her.
That glance said a lot.
Dan Hanlu understood.
She swallowed her words,
lifted her spear—
and launched a cold flash of light, summoning a Blue Luan that soared and pierced forward.
The three were ready. They blocked.
BOOM!!!
Though the strike didn’t injure them,
it sent all three flying back hundreds of meters.
Du Dong, who had blocked the strike head-on,
felt his spear hand tremble uncontrollably.
His expression darkened. He gripped the weapon tighter.
Now, General Du was truly angry.
He swept his spear horizontally, his aura shifting:
“Then I’ll kill you first!!”
He retracted his spear, built up power—
like a balloon inflating,
ready to explode at any moment.
Suddenly—
The wind stirred.
A blade struck his back.
Cold steel sliced through flesh, pierced the heart, and burst out the chest.
The power he had just gathered—
was deflated with one stab.
Du Dong looked down in disbelief at the red blade sticking out of his chest.
A voice rang in his ear.
“General Du, how’s my blade? Handsome, right?”
Du Dong swept his spear behind him.
Lu Ding twisted the blade, slashed upward—
Cut through Du Dong’s chest, slicing out from the shoulder.
Blood sprayed like a fountain.
Du Dong’s body lurched backward.
His spear tip barely grazed Lu Ding’s forehead—
the force of it smashing another hole in the pit wall behind them.
Lu Ding turned and chopped downward.
Path of Jinche, amplified by Bloodfrost, burst forth.
A monstrous force behind the strike.
Du Dong raised his spear to block—
BANG!!!!!!
He managed to stop the blade—
but not the momentum powered by Bloodfrost and Jinche’s Path.
The slash ravaged his flesh.
Blood exploded. Du Dong turned into a man soaked in red.
His forearm bones shattered entirely under the force of Lu Ding’s strike.
The two other Earth Observer cultivators nearby were stunned.
They rushed forward—
only to be intercepted and blown back by Dan Hanlu.
Du Dong spat out a mouthful of blood:
“Despicable!! Shameful!!”
He couldn’t believe it.
Lu Ding—such a top-tier prodigy—
Had ambushed him?!
That was his move!
He always thought only unscrupulous people like himself would use sneak attacks—
He never imagined a prodigy like Lu Ding would stoop to it!
“AHHHHHHHH!!!!”
Du Dong roared, channeling all his Spiritual Qi—
His aura surged into the heavens.
A lotus appeared—its petals slowly beginning to open.
This was his final strike—burning his soul and Qi in one last shot.
Lu Ding’s heart-piercing stab had nearly sealed his fate.
But he refused to die quietly.
Even if it cost his life—
He wanted to drag Lu Ding with him,
to show his son in the afterlife that—
“The one who killed you—I killed him back!”
“Lu Ding—let’s die together...”
Wishful thinking meets brutal reality.
SSSSHHHK!!!
One blade!
Another blade!
The first pierced his heart—
from back to chest.
The second—through his throat—
straight into his open screaming mouth, and out the back of his skull.
The soul-burning strike he had prepared—never launched.
The terrifying aura he built—didn’t stop Lu Ding’s blade.
It just left him vulnerable—
A full-power charge-up gave Lu Ding the window to stab him right through the brain.
“In your next life—remember—
Never wind up a move with startup frames in front of me. I charge up better than you do.”
