Chapter 247: Exiting the City
Chapter 247: Exiting the City
Orion immediately recognized the cheerful tone, turning sharply to see Magi strolling casually toward them, a bright grin plastered on his face, the small, fluffy bunny perched comfortably on his shoulder.
Orion’s expression tightened slightly, impatience clear in his voice as he responded firmly, "Magi, we don’t have time to chat right now. Fiora has gone missing."
Magi’s cheerful grin faded immediately, replaced with surprised concern. "Missing? Wait... Boss, now that you mention it, I did see something weird a bit earlier."
Orion’s eyes immediately sharpened, stepping urgently closer to Magi. "What did you see? Tell me everything, quickly!"
Magi scratched his head slightly, recalling carefully. "Well, I saw a suspicious group loading something large into their carriage earlier—like a sack or something. It was moving around a bit, like whatever was inside was struggling. They took the carriage toward the city’s exit. It looked weird as hell, but you know my cultivation... I thought it was better to stay out of trouble since I didn’t recognize them."
Orion’s eyes lit up with sudden hope, immediately turning toward Lucan with a fierce sense of urgency. "Brother Lucan, get the carriage ready! We have to hurry toward the city exit immediately. They might not have gotten too far yet."
"On it, Young Master!" Lucan replied quickly, immediately sprinting toward their carriage and swiftly climbing onto the driver’s seat.
Rina and Edgar quickly boarded the carriage, their expressions grim but resolute. Just as Orion moved to join them, Magi suddenly darted forward, jumping into the carriage without hesitation.
He gave Orion a quick, firm nod, seriousness overshadowing his usual carefree demeanor.
"Boss, I’m not strong, but let me help however I can. I might not know Fiora, but she seems quite important to you, so she’s one of our own—I won’t sit idly by," Magi stated firmly, his gaze surprisingly resolute.
Orion briefly met Magi’s earnest eyes and nodded solemnly. "Alright, stay sharp and keep an eye out."
With everyone swiftly aboard, Orion climbed inside as well, slamming the carriage door shut firmly. "Brother Lucan, hurry! Head toward the main exit as fast as possible!"
"Understood!" Lucan shouted from the driver’s seat, immediately cracking the reins sharply. The carriage surged forward, swiftly weaving through the busy city streets with impressive speed.
Inside the carriage, tense silence briefly hung thickly in the air, broken finally by Rina’s softly anxious voice, "Young Master... will Fiora really be alright?"
Orion reached forward, placing a gentle hand reassuringly on her shoulder, his voice firm but soothing, "We’ll find her. We won’t stop until we do."
As they reached the outer city gate, Lucan urgently called out to the stationed guards, "Did you see a suspicious carriage pass through here recently? Possibly carrying someone unwillingly?"
The guard hesitated slightly, glancing briefly at his partner before quickly replying, "Actually, yes, just moments ago. It left toward the southern highway at high speed."
"The fuck, you goddamn morons, why did you not stop them??" Lucan shouted in anger.
The guards started sweating as they quickly stammered, "Th-The person’s cultivation base was way beyond our level. And it seemed like he would k-kill us if we waited a moment longer."
Orion took a deep breath and quickly ordered Lucan, "Brother Lucan, we don’t have time to waste here. Pursue them immediately! We have to catch up!"
Lucan immediately spurred the carriage onward, accelerating out through the city gate and onto the open path beyond, racing swiftly into the twilight.
Edgar quietly watched Orion, silently admiring his decisive calm despite the tense situation. Rina clutched her hands nervously, while Magi sat unusually serious, his bunny quietly resting in his lap, sensing Magi’s tension as she rubbed her head against his neck.
Orion’s thoughts raced intensely, worry mingling with focused determination. His eyes stared sharply forward, silently vowing internally to himself, ’Just hold on, Fiora. No matter who took you, I’ll find you and bring you back safely.’
[Master... your Life Fire is on the precipice of igniting.]
’What the hell am I supposed to do with that?’ he snapped back, quickly realizing that he was letting his anger out on the wrong person. ’...I’m sorry, Lumi.’
Lumi’s angelic voice sounded in his mind, soothing his soul,
[Don’t worry, Master. I can understand your stress. However, I don’t know if the Life Fire Ignition will bring some unexpected change, so I must warn you beforehand.]
Orion took a deep breath, steadying himself after Lumi’s gentle warning. His emotions were chaotic, a storm within, but he forced calmness upon himself.
Suddenly, Lucan’s urgent voice shattered the tense silence inside the carriage, his shout cutting sharply through the rapid thump of hooves and rumble of wheels.
"Young Master! I see their carriage ahead! They’ve entered the forest!"
Orion’s gaze instantly sharpened, eyes narrowing dangerously. He swiftly leaned toward the small carriage window, peering forward through the twilight shadows and swirling dust.
The fleeing carriage was barely visible, a flickering silhouette rapidly vanishing into the dense thicket of trees ahead.
His voice rang out clearly, decisive and authoritative, "Intercept them, Lucan! We cannot afford to lose sight now!"
"Understood!" Lucan immediately called back, spurring their carriage faster, the rhythmic pounding of the horses’ hooves resonating through the carriage.
The gap between the carriages began to narrow slightly, the dense foliage looming menacingly ahead as both vehicles plunged into the thick cover of the forest.
Without hesitation, Lucan reached swiftly into his pocket, pulling out a smooth, perfectly balanced pebble.
His fingers tightened around the familiar cool surface, mana surging within his palm. Calmly yet quickly, he raised his hand, aiming intently at the rapidly fleeing carriage.
He flicked the pebble outward, mana enveloping it immediately as it shot through the air like a flaming meteor.
The pebble ignited brightly, racing forward and striking the ground directly before the escaping carriage, erupting in a violent explosion.
A thunderous boom echoed through the forest, sending dirt, shattered wood, and shards of metal flying wildly. The targeted carriage burst apart instantly, hurling occupants violently onto the forest ground, bodies scattering chaotically amidst clouds of dust and debris.
Lucan sharply reined in their own carriage, skidding to a rapid halt just a short distance from the wreckage.
Orion swiftly exited, Edgar immediately stepping down at his side. Both men assessed the scene rapidly, eyes narrowed, scanning for danger. Orion’s heart tightened as his eyes searched desperately for Fiora.
Rina quickly moved to follow Orion out of the carriage, anxiety written all over her face, but Orion immediately turned toward her, firmly ordering, "Rina, Magi—stay inside. If they try to take hostages, they’ll target you first. Remain safe."
Rina hesitated briefly, her eyes flickering with worry, before nodding silently and retreating inside, Magi pulling her protectively back and closing the door, his expression deeply serious.
Lucan quickly took count, his experienced gaze swiftly analyzing the enemy group now gathering themselves slowly amidst the debris. "Eleven in total, Young Master," Lucan announced gravely, eyes narrowing in concern.
Orion took a deep, steadying breath, addressing the kidnappers clearly, his voice strong yet tightly controlled, "Who are you people? Why did you kidnap my companion?"
However, the kidnappers provided no reply. Their expressions hardened instantly, hostility emanating sharply as they drew weapons without hesitation, advancing swiftly with silent intent.
Edgar immediately assessed the threat, quickly identifying the two strongest members of the group, both radiating power well above the ninth grade.
Edgar stepped decisively forward, drawing his blade with a chilling aura, commanding, "Lucan, protect the Young Master! I’ll handle these two."
Just as he finished saying it, he lunged forward with explosive power, immediately engaging the two powerful enemies and skillfully leading them deeper into the dense forest away from Orion’s position. The two of them were the leader and the vice-leader of the kidnappers.
The sound of fierce combat quickly faded into the shadows, leaving only brief echoes of steel clashing sharply.
Lucan immediately took position protectively in front of Orion, swiftly evaluating the remaining opponents. A grim realization crossed his features—five kidnappers stood at least at seventh grade or above, their expressions merciless and cold.
Lucan drew his sword, the metallic ring echoing sharply through the tense air.
