Chapter 263: Secrets And Lies

Cheng Bo Jing manipulated the metal on his skin to form a firm barrier between the woman’s touch and his skin. While she had yet to touch anything more than his chest over his shirt, he wasn’t about to take the chance with anything.

He belonged completely to Wang Tian Mu, and if he had to carve off the flesh that another woman touched to make her happy, he would. But he would also avoid having gotten into that situation in the first place.

"Tell me your secret first," he murmured slowly. His lips were twisted in a smirk, but his eyes held nothing but hatred for the woman. The military had taught him many ways of getting information out of people, from torture to seduction.

In the past, he didn’t think much of doing whatever he needed to in order to complete the mission, but since he had first met Wang Tian Mu at her family’s funeral, he couldn’t do it anymore.

While he hadn’t looked at her in the same way back then as he did now, it still made him feel dirty any time someone else touched him. So, he did what he needed to do in order to make sure he was at the top of the food chain for his department.

He had secrets on every ranking member of the military, no matter who it was. And he always had the information on hand, written in a code that only he understood. While he had created a lot of enemies in those years, he had never felt so happy.

He traded in secrets but never his own. In his profession, he quickly learned that there was no way to keep a secret hidden if someone was looking for it. So, he made sure that he didn’t have many.

His love and obsession with Wang Tian Mu was the only thing he guarded close to his chest, and the only ones who knew about it were in the same boat as him.

Slipping back into his old mask made him want to rant and rave... to kill everyone inside of this store before he dropped to his knees in front of the Little Rabbit and begged forgiveness.

But first, he needed to know more about the shifter. If this was somehow an undiscovered power, they needed to know more about it. They couldn’t take the chance of a shapeshifter being one of them without them knowing it.

The woman laughed quietly, once again looking up at him from below her lashes. Cheng Bo Jing knew that she thought she was being irresistible, but all he wanted to do was force his toxic mist down her throat and mouth until she lay on the floor, convulsing.

"Fine... my secret is that I really am just a water power user," she smirked, knowing that she had him.

"Not possible. I’ve met water users before, and none of them could change the way they looked to such an extreme," denied Cheng Bo Jing with a shake of his head. If she weren’t going to tell him the truth, he would be forced to pull a confession out of her.

"Ah, but that’s just because they lack strength and imagination. I’ve always had a good imagination, and being soaked in the rainwater for more than a few days definitely helped with strengthening my power," she denied, but the look on her face never changed. "And now that I’ve told you my secret, you have to tell me yours."

"You didn’t tell me everything," countered Cheng Bo Jing. "So I won’t tell you everything either. Suffice it to say that we have three teams arriving any minute now, and if they don’t see us, there will be hell to pay."

The men and woman around them burst out laughing, their heads tilting back as if they had never heard anything funnier in their lives.

"The zombies will take them before they can even think to look for you two," shrugged the woman as she turned around and continued to walk to the back of the massive store. It had to be at least 260,000 square feet.

"Ah, but the zombies won’t touch them," smirked Cheng Bo Jing back, his eyebrow raising in challenge. "But that’s another secret."

"Fine. You want another secret? Here is one," shrugged the woman. "Did you know that an adult body between 20 and 35 years old contains about 60% water? It is roughly divided into 75% water in the brain, 83% water in the blood, the heart contains 79% water, the bones 22%, and another whopping 75% water in the muscles."

She listed the statistics off like it wasn’t a big deal, and in fact, it was one of those things that everyone knew from elementary school biology. The human body was made up of a lot of water. But what did that have to do with anything? It wasn’t a secret.

"My secret," she smirked over her shoulder at Cheng Bo Jing as if she heard his thoughts. "Is that I can manipulate water wherever it is found, in any state that it is found in. I can literally make your blood boil or freeze you from the inside out. I can also redirect your blood to make you attracted to me."

She looked down at his cock, and Cheng Bo Jing could feel his balls trying to fit themselves back up into his body in fear.

"Interesting," nodded Cheng Bo Jing as if he wasn’t internally cringing at the idea that she could force him to have an erection by manipulating his blood.

But that did make sense as to how she was able to change her body so much as to look like a completely different person.

Mystery solved. Now they could get back home.

"About your secret, I gave you mine, fair is fair," she continued as she pushed a set of double doors, bringing the small group into the storeroom of the store.

Only it no longer looked like a storeroom.

A campfire was burning at the entrance of the room, the movement of the doors sending a gust of smoke toward Cheng Bo Jing’s face. They had to have a window open somewhere, or else they were risking death due to smoke inhalation and carbon dioxide poisoning.

But what surprised him the most was the 20 or so people huddled around the fire, including women and children.

And they were definitely not being cared for as well as the water power user was.
