Chapter 203: Watching Them Die

Chapter 203: Watching Them Die

"What the fuck was that?" demanded Bai Long Qiang as Ye Yao Zu picked Wang Tian Mu up in his arms and strolled out of the conference room and out of the guild building.

"I don’t know," admitted Rip as he trailed quickly after them. "I’ve never seen something like that."

"It was like she completely checked out," grunted Fan Teng Fei. He pulled his monk’s staff out of his space and held it upright in his hand.

"I don’t know if praying is really going to help right now," sneered Si Dong sarcastically as he rushed up to clear a path for Ye Yao ZU.

Fan Teng Fei simply looked at him but didn’t bother to answer. This was one of the few traditional weapons that almost no one saw as a weapon. He could carry it around everywhere, and if someone attacked...

Well, he would be more than happy to show them just how efficient it was at killing.

"One of her eyes turned completely white," murmured Bin An Sha as he pressed his fingers against her pulse. It was still racing as if she was trapped inside of a nightmare that she couldn’t get out of.

"What?" demanded Rip. The men shared a look. "Not that one," was all Bin An Sha admitted to.

The eye that had been covered with a contact had not been the one to turn white... which meant that whatever had happened to her, it had affected her natural eyes. It wasn’t something that just covered the iris.

"Could this be related to her... lack of power?" asked Ye Yao Zu, looking around at everyone walking through the third ring. They needed to hurry up and get back to the condo. That was the only place where they could slow down long enough to figure everything out.

"I don’t think so," admitted Bin An Sha. "I’ve never seen anyone with... her lack of power... do something like that."

"But what would have set her off?" mused Si Dong, pushing a soldier out of the way as they approached the guard at the northern end of the gate.

"Bin An Sha, returning home with my team," grunted Bin An Sha, not bothering to slow down enough for the guard to react, let alone open the gate.

The guards scrambled as the

managed to open the barrier just enough for Bin An Sha and the rest of the men to go forward single file.

"Thanks!" called out Si Dong, pasting his signature smile on his face as he waved to the guards. "Sorry, his woman passed out, and he is freaking out. You know how it is!"

"Of course, Si Dong!" yelled back one of the guards. "We should have seen you coming and already had it opened for you! I hope she gets better."

A furious conversation broke out behind the seven men, but they didn’t so much as slow down.

"Oh shit! That’s the Angel?!?"

No matter how hard I tried to wake myself up, I was utterly helpless, locked inside my own head, watching the same scene over and over again.

The guys had been gone for three days before they found a place that had what they needed. There were at least a hundred people from City A Sanctuary around, each one taking a different store, a different house as they scoured around for the glassware, plates, and vases.

They had left whatever food they had found behind. It wasn’t part of the mission, and they didn’t have the ability to carry everything—especially something as breakable as glass.

"Think this will satisfy the Princess?" asked Si Dong as he gently threw up a crystal vase before catching it again. The smirk on his face as he spoke to Ye Yao Zu didn’t match the hatred and anger in his eyes.

"Hopefully, that would have cost a cool grand before the end of the world," answered Fan Teng Fei as he walked into one of the grocery stores the other men had just left.

I followed him, a silent observer, into the store and watched as he took all of the food into his space, only leaving behind the milk and meats that had long past their best-before dates.

I tried to scream at him, to tell him that I had a bad feeling about all of this. But he didn’t so much as flinch even as I beat on his chest with all my strength. In fact, he walked through me like I wasn’t there.

Because I wasn’t, I was trapped inside a nightmare where I knew the ending... even if I couldn’t remember it.

"Got it," grunted Fan Teng Fei with a nod to Cheng Bo Jing. He stood in the center of the street, his wrist resting on the butt of his rifle as he scanned the area.

"Let’s get a move on. It is too quiet around here," he said, his eyes never stopping for a second.

I walked up to him and rested my forehead on his chest, tears pouring down my eyes as he stood stiff. I could touch them, but they didn’t even know I was there.

"We need to get back to City A. Kitten has been stressed since before we even left, and this has taken too much time," snapped Bai Long Qiang, standing back-to-back with Cheng Bo Jing.

While Cheng Bo Jing at least appeared to be calm, Bai Long Qiang was vibrating with nervous energy.

"This isn’t the first time she said that she had a bad feeling," he continued, and I walked around to stare at the man I had been fascinated with since I was six.

He once told me that there was a soul connection between Bai men and the women they married. That they knew as soon as they saw her that she was destined for him.

Back then, I had assumed that I had transmigrated to this world because, in all the universe, he was the only one for me. And I was the only one for him.

But then I met Cheng Bo Jing. While my feelings and connection to Bai Long Qiang never wavered, I could feel that same tether to him, too. And that feeling continued to grow as I met all of the others.

I felt like I had been split into five separate sections, each one pulling at a different guy. Never different. Always all-encompassing.

And I was terrified.

I always wondered what was wrong with me. What had I done to deserve this punishment?

But now I knew. I wasn’t meant for just one of them... I was meant for all of them.

The five that I have known most of my life and two new men that impacted my life in new and exhilarating ways.

And now that we were all on the same page, I had to watch them die.
