Chapter 172: Meeting My Idol
Chapter 172: Meeting My Idol
I grinned; I was finally meeting my idol! I couldn’t believe it. I had been fascinated with him since I first heard of him. I did all the typical stalker stuff; I had checked his relationship status (single), his age (29 at the time of publishing), his location (City A), as well as all of his preferences.
I knew that he had never known his parents and had been raised in the foster care system here until he aged out at 18.
Like me, he had gone to medical school at a young age, graduating at only 20 years old. I wasn’t going to point out that I graduated at 18; I thought that might be rubbing it in his face that he wasn’t the only genius in the medical profession. But I did have a whole life that I remembered before, so I think that gave me some sort of cheat code or something.
But he was intelligent, handsome, and the equivalent of a pop star or actor in the medical field.
And he was in the same room as me.
Scratch that; he was treating me. How many people would kill (or die) to be his patient, but I had actually been moved into his place for round-the-clock care.
All of a sudden, what I went through almost seemed like the best thing to have ever happened to me if I got to meet THE Bin An Sha.
Of course, it would be when I looked more like a walking skeleton instead of a person, but that was beside the point. I was a patient of one of the best doctors in the country if not the world, and I was going to milk it for all it was worth.
And pick his brain at the same time.
"Most don’t opt for chemotherapy anymore," I nodded my head like I knew what I was talking about. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I kind of do, but cancer treatment was not my area of expertise. Mine was in Emergency medicine, thus me being the director of an Emergency Room.
I was 90% sure that before he specialized in cancer treatments, Bin An Sha had concentrated on surgical medicine, and most still equated him with that. He was the top in his field in that, too.
In fact, I was pretty sure that anything Bin An Sha touched turned to gold; he was just that perfect.
"No, given the rate of success and the amount of pain and illness that a patient would experience during chemo, it had almost been a lost practice," he admitted, a sad look on his face. "However, if you are only looking at fatalities due to disease, cancer ranked second in the world for the greatest number of deaths at just over 10 million people. The only one higher was heart disease at over 18 million. To put that in perspective, homicide was the cause of death for 320,000 cases worldwide, and yet, you would think that that number was significantly higher based on how much coverage it receives."
"I take it that is a sore point for you?" I joked, completely forgetting about everyone else in the room. I would deal with them later. But right now, I wanted to be Doctor Bin’s sole focus for a few more minutes.
"Apparently," he laughed. "What about you? Did you concentrate on cancer research or something else?"
"No, I’m afraid not. I came by your article when I was trying to figure out some of the genetic materials Cheng Bo Jing had been injected with," I shrugged. Talk about a lifetime ago. I could still remember that day at the hospital. "But no, I practiced emergency medicine."
"Wow," he whistled, looking impressed. "That one is hard."
"It has its ups and downs, that’s for sure," I grunted, sticking out my tongue. I have to admit, until this moment right now, I hadn’t really thought about my time in the emergency room. But how much easier would it have been if I could have just healed with a touch.
"Emerg was the one place I always had the most trouble with," continued Bin An Sha as he sat down on the floor and got himself comfortable beside me. "I like order and structure; the ER had neither, and it drove me crazy."
"True, you never knew what was going to come in at any given time. And heaven help anyone that said the ’q’ word," I laughed. It was that level of chaos that helped ground me. You had to be present if you were going to give your patient the best possible care.
"Well, Doctor Wang Tian Mu, it is an absolute pleasure to meet you," said Bin An Sha as he held out his hand to shake mine.
"The pleasure is all mine," I assured him.
He muttered something under his breath that caused Rip to stiffen under me, but I wasn’t able to hear it.
And it seemed rude to ask him to repeat it when he was clearly trying to make it so I couldn’t.
"How about we get you back into your new room and get a bath going for you," suggested Bin An Sha as he gracefully rose to his feet. He held out his hand, and I took it, getting up off of Rip.
"That sounds like heaven," I admitted. I reached up to pat my hair and cringed at the feeling of it under my hand. "Might need you to bring in the scissors at the same time. I need to do something with this mess, and it might just be easier to cut it all off and let it regrow."
It was hard to admit that. I might have accepted my weight, the loss of my breasts and ass, and even the state of my skin, but I was vain when it came to my hair.
It was my pride and joy, and knowing that I might be losing it all brought tears to my eyes.
Which was stupid since I knew that it would regrow given the time. But it had hung down to the small of my back before I entered Camp Hell, and considering it was now almost shoulder length, the majority of it was twisted into a single mat.
