Chapter 117: A Rumor

I followed his gaze and looked down at the military man’s hands. The blood had long since dried, but the memory of it would never leave.

I wanted to open my mouth and say something, offer him some sort of condolence, but there was nothing I could say to make this better.

And I needed to stop putting myself out there only to be abused when he realized what actually happened here at Camp Hell.

Since he wasn’t fighting me, this healing went a lot better than the first. His body wasn’t fighting the invasion but rather warmly welcomed me.

"So, more than a doctor then, huh?" he said, a slight smirk on his face. "You’re a healer?"

I nodded my head at his words while internally; I wondered if I should completely heal him, even the old wounds that still left him in pain.

Would my actions be thanked or looked upon as me being a sadistic bitch?

My mind flashed to Bai Long Qiang. He might be dead by now, but if he was in this man’s position, I would want him completely healed, no matter how he felt about it later.

Letting out a long sigh, I wrapped my green magic around his old injuries, fixing them until there was no more evidence of what once happened.

I didn’t bother with his scars. He could keep them.

"Thank you, Healer. However did they manage to get their hand on you?" His soft voice cut through my thoughts as he looked up at me in wonder.

"I was here before anyone knew what a healer was," I said, my voice flat. I dropped his hand back onto the bed and turned around. I had done more for him than I should have, but what else could I do?

He reminded me of the guys.

As soon as I got close to the door, the Reaver had it opened and was once again gripping my upper arm. "Good job, bitch," he sneered. "Or maybe I should tell Alpha you fuck up just so he would give you to me for the night. What do you think?" he continued, gripping his cock through his pants and jerking it up and down.

I didn’t bother to reply, knowing that anything that I said would be answered with a hit to the face.

And let’s face it. At the end of the day, it wouldn’t change anything that happened to me.

----

"Rip," grunted Alpha from behind his desk. The Reaver had set himself up in one of the cabins like he was some sort of big deal, but Rip knew one strike and the piece of shit would be dead. That wasn’t the issue. It was the hundreds of other Reavers who followed him that held his hand.

He knew he could take them on and win, but there were too many variables when it came to fighting them all at once and protecting Wang Tian Mu at the same time. And if he left so much as one of them alive, then they would be able to track them down wherever they went, and they would never be safe.

No, it was better to stay here, at least for now, until Rip could be sure that they could get away without any consequences. He would not put up with anything that could compromise her safety more than he already was.

"What?" he grunted after the pause lasted too long. It was something that every man in their position did, knowing how it affected the other, but he had been in the Firm too long to care about pissing contests like that.

He wasn’t going to be separated from Wang Tian Mu for a moment longer than he needed to be.

"I heard you might have a thing for the Healer," smirked Alpha as he leaned forward and folded his hands together.

Rip didn’t bother answering the question. As far as he was concerned, he had more than a ’thing’ for her, and anyone with eyes could see it. The Reavers were just as dumb now as they were as a zombie. Or maybe this was their normal level of intelligence, even as a human.

"A rumor got out that we had one here at the camp, and now everyone who thinks they have a bit of change in their pocket wants her," sneered the Alpha. Apparently, he wasn’t impressed with the offers he got for her.

"And?" asked Rip, not sure where this was going. His plans would go a lot easier if Alpha sold her to some human. They were much easier to kill, and you didn’t have to worry about being tracked down by the rest of the horde after you did it.

"And I need you to keep close to her at all times," replied the Alpha as if it were obvious. Rip raised an eyebrow at the request but didn’t say anything else.

"Like at night?" clarified Rip. He couldn’t get in trouble if it was what the Alpha was demanding... and he didn’t need to put up with the other shits either.

"Like all the time," confirmed Alpha.

"Are you going to at least give her a pillow or a blanket or something? You know, now that you realize that she is actually valuable?" pushed Rip. He was skirting the edge a bit too close, asking for those supplies, but he needed to see just how far he could push.

"Fuck that. She gets a glass of water more per day," sneered Alpha. He might have something that everyone wanted, but it was still his to treat as he wanted. She didn’t need a pillow or blanket in that cage. She just needed to listen to orders.

Rip didn’t say anything, only clenched his fist a bit tighter behind his back.

"And when you are in the rings, someone else will look after her."

Fuck that. He wasn’t trusting anyone else around her. Now that she was healing him, he didn’t feel the need to rip random people apart anymore. He would and could keep killing people that pissed him off, but he didn’t need to leave Wang Tian Mu in order to do it.

"But what is one of your horde trying to sell her behind your back?" asked Rip, putting the idea in Alpha’s head. He had enough free time on his hands; he might as well be paranoid while he was just sitting here.

"Bring them to me if that is the case," growled Alpha, coming to his feet.

"No need," shrugged Rip. "I am sure that you are strong enough to keep the horde in their place."

Spinning around, he left the cabin, the smile on his face well hidden from anyone who was possibly watching.
