Chapter 112: Their Next Step
Bai Long Qiang leaned over to hear what the shorter woman was saying, only to freeze at her words.
"She’s alive."
Those two words, those nine letters, changed his entire perspective on everything that was happening.
"She’s alive."
"I don’t know where she is right now, but I do know that in two to three years from now, she is going to be at a Camp outside of City I in the western part of the country. Get to City A, establish a base within a base for her to live. She is not going to be the same woman you knew, but she is alive," whispered the woman harshly. Her words were practically tripping over each other; she was speaking so fast.
Bai Long Qiang nodded his head, but he hadn’t really heard much past ’She’s alive’.
"Find the Recruiter. He goes around to different fight clubs, getting fighters for the camp. He will lead you straight to her."
Once again, he nodded. "City A, set up base. Find the Recruiter; he recruits fighters. Two to three years, City I."
She smiled up at him. "Don’t give up hope. Your fiancé is a fighter; you need to be one, too." With those final words, she turned around and walked back to the men who were waiting for her.
Not caring about anything or anyone, Bai Long Qiang turned to his team, no longer having to fake the pale exterior or the tremor in his hands.
"Boss?" grunted Si Dong, gripping the other man by his upper arms. "Your mind is a mess."
"She’s alive," repeated Bai Long Qiang. The five of them were the only ones left in the conference room, but he still kept his voice down. "Head to City A and set up a base within the base. Find the Recruiter; he recruits fighters. Two to three years, she will be in a camp outside City I."
Cheng Bo Jing took down the notes, trying to make sense out of the broken sentences that had left Bai Long Qiang reeling.
But there was only one crucial part to everything.
"She is alive," grunted Cheng Bo Jing as he and the others shared a look over top of Bai Long Qiang’s head. That was all that they needed to know.
"Can we trust the source?" asked Fan Teng Fei, pushing down the feeling of ecstasy at the idea that Wang Tian Mu was alive.
Everyone paused at his question.
"I think so. Wang Chao’s woman told me how to find her in two to three years from now," muttered Bai Long Qiang.
"She does seem to know a lot of things that have yet to happen," sneered Cheng Bo Jing. The information was a double-edged sword. On one side, the idea that their woman was alive would push them to save City Y... or at least not destroy it like they planned to do.
Their base would have been next if the tide continued its route, so maybe Wang Chao’s woman was doing whatever she had to to make sure that her base survived.
On the other hand, if they gave up and didn’t bother to look for Wang Tian Mu and she was still alive, none of them would be able to live with themselves.
"Why didn’t she tell us where Wang Tian Mu is now?" asked Fan Teng Fei, his head cocked to the side. "And how does she know where Wang Tian Mu will be in two to three years from now?"
"Maybe she lived through this all before and had a horrible death, was reincarnated back to before the world ended, and is now trying to make everything better?" suggested Si Dong, the smile firmly fixed on his face. "I mean, it could happen."
"This isn’t one of those novels you are obsessed with," sneered Fan Teng Fei. "If it was, the zombies would be a lot easier to kill."
Si Dong rolled his eyes before giving Fan Teng Fei a side eye. "And how would you know that if you weren’t reading the same novels as me?"
Fan Teng Fei returned Si Dong’s look with one of such utter disdain that the other man shuddered. "I don’t need to read them in order to understand what happens in them. Let me guess: the world ends, and one character scratches and claws his or her way up to the top, saves mankind, sets up safehouses all over the place, and becomes as powerful as a God."
Si Dong opened his mouth to argue, only to close it again... "Okay, fine. You are right. The plots might be a tad different, but for the most part, they are all the same."
Fan Teng Fei smirked at him one last time before turning his attention to Ye Yao Zu. Bai Long Qiang was still too out of it to carry on a conversation. "What is our plan?" As their second in command, Ye Yao Zu was the only one who could come up with their next course of action.
"We need to finish what we are doing now," answered Ye Yao Zu after a pause. "We need to ensure our survival, but I don’t see a reason why we need to worry about saving the base and city."
The other three men nodded in agreement. Since there was a chance that Wang Tian Mu was still alive, they had no other option but to go searching for her.
"But I don’t see why we need a base in City A," continued Ye Yao Zu. City A was halfway across the country from their home in City D. And while City D was destroyed, there was no reason why they couldn’t go back to their original territory. They knew the place better than anywhere else, and Wang Tian Mu would probably want to go back to the familiar.
"I agree. We know who can get us to Wang Tian Mu, and if he is a Recruiter, then he would be traveling around. I say we find any random city with a fight club in it and build up a name for ourselves," added Cheng Bo Jing as he started thinking about their next step.
"It doesn’t make sense for us all to be fighters, especially if we are going to end up having to fight each other. Some of us need to be the audience," continued Fan Teng Fei. "They are the ones that actually inject the money in these fights."
"Well, if anyone can pull off being a rich prick, I guess it would be you," smiled Si Dong, clasping the other man on the shoulder.
