Chapter 103: City Y Sanctuary Base
Chapter 103: City Y Sanctuary Base
Ripper tilted his head and laughed at the thoughts in his head. Fuck did those in charge screw up.
A whole world of humans and zombies, ready for the taking, but this fucking Alpha decides he wanted to run a fighting ring instead.
So stupid.
So narrow minded.
Oh well... might as well have fun while he was there. The one with the black cat said he needed to be there for the healer until her men came for her.
Ripper could feel a... tension... take hold of him at the idea of her men taking her away from him. He only just found her... he couldn’t let that happen, now could he?
"You," grunted the Alpha, pulling Ripper out of his thoughts.
Ripp didn’t say anything, only cocked his head to the side. The Alpha hated him... refused to talk to him until he deemed it important.
But that was because, for an idiot, the guy was smart. He knew a true Alpha when he met him, and he knew that Ripper would hide in the shadows until the Alpha pissed him off enough to come out and play.
And that would be his death.
"The watchers want you in the ring."
-----
Three Weeks Ago
"What do you want?" grunted the guard outside of the City Y Base. He looked Bai Long Qiang and his team up and down, shuffling his feet.
"We heard that there is a zombie tide coming, and we thought we could help," smiled Si Dong, coming up to the guard like they were long-time friends.
"Zombie tide?" replied the man, his eyes wide open.
Bai Long Qiang blinked rapidly. Did the guards not know what was coming for them?
"I’ll take it from here," smiled a second man as he walked down the road toward the manmade barrier between the Base and the rest of the world.
"Yes, Sir," saluted the guard, and he quickly returned to the shack he was in previously.
"Sorry about that," smiled the new man, and Si Dong nodded his head.
"All good," replied Ye Yao Zu. "We were just surprised that he didn’t know about such an important thing."
"The Major General thought that it would be best not to scare everybody before we figure out what was actually going on," explained the man. "I am Colonel Liao Gang Bo."
"Colonel," nodded Cheng Bo Jing. "I am Cheng Bo Jing, and these are my friends: Bai Long Qiang, Ye Yao Zu, Si Dong, and Fan Teng Fei. Bai Long Qiang was one of the leaders of City D Military Base before it was wiped out."
"And yet, here you stand," smiled the Colonel as he looked at the five men in front of him. "That is impressive."
"We are here because we are the best at what we do. City D needed supplies, and we were the only ones with the ability to go out and get them," said Fan Teng Fei. They had come up with a new background for anyone who asked about them.
They had all agreed that they weren’t going to get involved in the military bullshit, but they also needed a seat at the table if they were going to be able to take down City Y.
And the Bai name was well-known in military circles.
"I am sorry to hear that. We are having a meeting in a few minutes. I was just on my way to the conference room when I saw you here. Maybe you’ll be able to give us some insight as to what we can expect," chuckled Liao Gang Bo as he signaled for the guard to lift the gate.
"Is it just the base?" asked Si Dong, trying to get inside the guy’s head in front of him. He had always been good at reading a room, but he needed to be even better now. The lives of his friends depended on it.
"No. We have people from a few different places. City J Naval base has sent a team; there is a second team from City D, and then two teams for City Q have also been sent to help. There is a sixth team, an Elysian Base that sent a team, but..."
"Huh, never heard of them," grunted Cheng Bo Jing. It was driving him insane not to have the technology needed to keep tabs on all the different working components he had been working on before the end of the world.
"Their team leader is a woman... Li Dai Lu or something like that. But she is supported by General Wang Chao and Major Liu Wei, so I guess that is something." Colonel Liao Gang Bo didn’t seem to be too impressed with the team, but that could be because of General Wang more than anything.
"Well, we would love to offer our help in any way that we can," smiled Si Dong, wrapping his arms around the Colonel and turning him around.
’Fucks sake. Does he have to be so touchy?’
The voice that entered Si Dong’s mind was familiar, but the man who spoke it didn’t open his mouth at all.
’This whole zombie tide is probably nothing more than some bullshit thing someone thought about, wanting to see the strength of our base. There can’t be that many of them, and zombies are easy to kill. Just take their heads, and it’s done. A single troop should be able to take them out. If I was in charge of this base, things would be run so much differently.’
Si Dong stared at Liao Gang Bo’s mouth, listening to the words he was speaking without saying a word.
Fuck...
"So, Colonel, I heard that Major General Deng Jun Hie is absolutely amazing to work for. Is it true?" asked Si Dong, a bright smile on his face like a child begging for a treat.
Liao Gang Bo rolled his eyes before turning his attention to the other man. "It is an honor and a privilege to work for the Major General." ’And it would be even better if the idiot fell down some stairs and broke his neck. But we can’t all get what we deserve, can we?’
The words that Si Dong heard with his ears were a lot different than what he was hearing with his mind.
Could this actually happen? Could he have turned into an X man like Bai Long Qiang and Fan Teng Fei? Could he read minds?!? This was amazing! He was like a superman now! What should his name be?
No... Si Dong shook his head, trying to think about something else. Need to have City Y destroyed first, and then he could figure out his superhero name... Maybe Dr. X?
No, that was taken.
"We’re here," grunted Liao Gang Bo as he opened the door to a building. "After you."
