Fated Love With the Billionaire
Chapter 64 Silhouette

Chapter 64: Chapter 64 Silhouette

The beach was alive with people dancing around the bonfire. Chen Ningxi strolled arm in arm with Cheng Qiaobei, the sea breeze lightly brushing away the day’s heat and bringing a gentle, soothing coolness to their skin.

Cheng Qiaobei said, "I was a bit worried earlier."

Chen Ningxi brushed away her wind-tousled hair, "Worried about what?"

Cheng Qiaobei lowered his eyes, a helpless smile playing on his lips, his expression already providing an answer, but Chen Ningxi loved seeing his resigned look.

"Lin Hanrui can be so unfiltered, I was afraid he’d upset you."

"Oh... you mean the thing about the ex-girlfriend?" Chen Ningxi let go of him, pretending to be angry, quickening her pace. She was caught up to from behind, her hand gently placed back on his arm. "We agreed, no getting upset."

Chen Ningxi replied, "Getting upset wouldn’t make sense, just an ex-girlfriend. Why would I leave because of a relationship that didn’t continue? If that’s how it is, you might be the one who leaves first."

Quite true, who doesn’t have a past? Facing the past requires a proper mindset.

Cheng Qiaobei was relieved that Chen Ningxi was so sensible. "I’m really glad you feel that way. If we encounter problems in the future, I’ll feel much more at ease."

"What do you mean? Is there another ex-girlfriend?"

Cheng Qiaobei responded candidly, "I dated two: one in college and another after starting work, but the second one only lasted a month, I think."

Chen Ningxi nodded. "When we encounter issues, we have mouths under our noses. If I’m doubtful, I’ll ask you; if you’re doubtful, you ask me. Let’s get it all out in the open, then there won’t be any issues."

"I’ll do as you say."

Cheng Qiaobei pulled his hand out of his pocket, wrapping it around her shoulder. The blazing bonfire lit up their faces. In front of them stood a newly engaged couple, celebrating joyfully, almost like looking at their future selves.

Hopefully, so.

The young man among the couple grabbed a microphone to sing a love song to his girlfriend. As the melodious and lyrical music played, even the ocean waves seemed to calm.

They sat on the ground, Chen Ningxi leaning against Cheng Qiaobei’s shoulder, murmuring,

"Sigh... we’re heading back tomorrow, and the day after, back to work. I don’t want to go back."

Cheng Qiaobei laughed, "Why not take two more days off? I’ll keep you company for another two days."

Chen Ningxi replied, "No way. Every year after the holidays, they tighten up on work. If they find out my post was unattended, I’ll be called out by the whole system, and it wouldn’t be good for my competition for the manager position."

Cheng Qiaobei knowingly nodded, "True, at critical moments, don’t let small things ruin your future."

Her rationality was not only evident in her relationships but also in her work. She was someone with clear goals, very aware of what she wanted, and Cheng Qiaobei admired her clarity and perseverance.

"Absolutely," the subject of competing for the manager position brought a frown to Chen Ningxi’s forehead. "Do you think I can succeed?"

Cheng Qiaobei said, "You absolutely can."

Chen Ningxi smiled, "You’re so sure? More than I believe in myself."

"Of course, you’re the best, the most outstanding." Cheng Qiaobei went on praising, but Chen Ningxi covered his mouth, "Stop it, or I’ll want to crawl into a hole."

Cheng Qiaobei pulled down her hand, enveloping it in his palm, teasing:

"That might be challenging, seems like there aren’t any holes on the beach."

"You," Chen Ningxi struggled a bit but couldn’t pull her hand back and said, "You take advantage of me on your turf, is that it?" She pretended to complain to those around, "Manager Cheng is bullying the guests, is anyone going to intervene?"

Cheng Qiaobei laughed, "Yell a little louder, and they might actually think I’m bullying someone, my dear Mr. Chen."

Suddenly they were close, and when Chen Ningxi turned her head, her brow brushed against his lips, the small contact made them both freeze.

She heard the sound of her heartbeat, and he swallowed in his throat.

The newly engaged young man continued singing, "I’ll take you anywhere you want to go, you’re my woman, I want you to be my goddess for life..."

The atmosphere was romantic, everything was just right, this was the moment where emotions were intense and natural.

Cheng Qiaobei slowly lifted his hand, his fingertips entwining in her soft hair, lowering his shoulders as she cooperatively tilted her chin, closing her eyes...

Lips met in sweet harmony, it was both tender and beautiful, like soft silk. He gently pried open the shell, exploring the tender, moist flesh inside.

The air grew thinner, but he showed no sign of stopping. This was a consuming deep kiss, and when the two were reluctant to let go, they heard an unexpected sound.

Click—

Chen Ningxi opened her eyes; she was too familiar with this sound, someone took a photo.

Cheng Qiaobei sensed it, too, releasing her and shielding her with his hand, calling into the shadows,

"Lin Hanrui!"

Lin Hanrui came out grinning, "Hehehe... how did you know it was me?"

Cheng Qiaobei shot him a sharp look; Lin Hanrui replied with a playful smile, "I was capturing a beautiful moment for you."

Liang Lei came to Chen Ningxi’s side, "Oh my, you deliberately ditched us to enjoy sweet couple time. My dear Ning, you’ve learned to be naughty."

Chen Ningxi’s cheeks burned, she covered her forehead with her hand to hide her embarrassment, saying not so confidently, "Who knows what you were up to, taking forever to come back."

"What could we be up to?" Liang Lei was much more confident, bending down with her hands on her knees, seeing Chen Ningxi’s happy face, feeling happy for her too. "Of course, we thoughtfully created an opportunity for you to be alone."

Chen Ningxi’s ears grew hotter. Cheng Qiaobei casually hooked his arm around Chen Ningxi’s shoulder, telling Lin Hanrui,

"Delete the photo."

"Are you sure you want it deleted?" Lin Hanrui handed the photo over. "I only captured your silhouettes, the vibe, posture, feel, background, composition, they’re all superb."

Cheng Qiaobei held it, and Chen Ningxi noted how beautifully the picture was taken.

He asked, "Should I send it to you?"

Chen Ningxi nodded.

After the photo was sent to Cheng Qiaobei’s WeChat, he deleted it from Lin Hanrui’s phone and sent it to Chen Ningxi.

That night, they both slept lightly. Cheng Qiaobei lay in bed, gazing at the picture of them kissing, setting it as his background.

Chen Ningxi tossed and turned, holding her phone, looking at the photos Cheng Qiaobei took of her today, including the one of them standing under the heart-shaped tree, the last one being the blurred silhouette of their kiss.

The night breeze lifted the curtains, unsettling not just the curtains but also their hearts.

Cheng Qiaobei rested his hand on his forehead. In the dark, his thoughts were particularly clear and definite. Their relationship was stable, but the secret he had been hiding hadn’t been disclosed to her. Uncertain of what would happen upon revelation, considering Chen Ningxi’s family background, he wondered if she would care.

Because of his concern, Cheng Qiaobei planned to find an opportunity to talk it over with her after they returned to Danjiang.

The next day.

Cheng Qiaobei and Lin Hanrui came over to the suite to help them pack their luggage. Lin Hanrui asked, "What time is your flight?"

Liang Lei answered, "9:30 in the morning, and you guys? What time is your flight?"

Lin Hanrui said, "I’m driving back, staying for another two days before heading back. Old Cheng might be flying out this afternoon."

Cheng Qiaobei was helping Chen Ningxi adjust her backpack straps, "My flight is at 2:00 PM, with a layover for business, and then I’m going to Xiao Zhou, probably arriving at night."

Chen Ningxi said, "That’ll take about seven to eight hours to get to Xiao Zhou, right? Why didn’t you book an earlier flight?"

Cheng Qiaobei gave a meaningful smile, "Catching an evening flight to the hotel reveals many issues you can’t find during the day."

Chen Ningxi genuinely felt for those hotel staff, "Having a boss like you is pretty scary."

"Scary?" Cheng Qiaobei felt the comment wasn’t objective enough. "Shouldn’t it be responsible?"

Chen Ningxi said, "Alright, alright, whatever you say is right."
